Chapter 1266: Who Exactly is Master Y?
Master Y cast a nonchalant glance at the man in black, saying nothing.
She wore a heavy mask as she sat in the car, her heavy iron shackles replaced with electronic ones.
As she gazed at the swiftly passing scenery outside, her thoughts drifted just as quickly.
It had been many years since she last saw the sky or the world outside.
This time, that ruthless woman had actually allowed her to come out. Breathing in the long-lost fresh air and looking at the ever-changing world outside, she felt a sense of hopelessness.
If it weren't for that woman's need for her this time, she wouldn't have been temporarily released.
The car sped away from the secluded research institute, raced through the dense forest on the outskirts, crossed rugged mountain roads, and finally reached a smooth highway after about an hour.
Master Y sat quietly in the car, as if everything outside had nothing to do with her.
Inside the robot arena, the audience patiently awaited the arrival of Master Y.
They kept discussing and debating, time passing slowly, each moment feeling like an eternity.
Occasionally, they could hear the crazy robots still singing and dancing or incessantly cursing at Lucille.
The scene was bizarrely comical.
Lucille was so angry her face turned green. The robots were malfunctioning and going haywire; if she didn't know better, she'd think someone was deliberately targeting and insulting her.
Lawrence was still immersed in the excitement of meeting Master Y, not noticing Lucille's dark expression.
Sabrina and Marco had also heard about the chaos and rushed to the arena to support and comfort Lucille after finishing their tasks.
After all, this was a major event for everyone to celebrate.
Yet it was also an exasperating incident.
Seeing her children arrive did nothing to improve Lucille's mood; she only felt more irritable.
She kept urging, "Where are you now?"
"Why aren't you here yet?"
"Everyone's waiting for you!"
Her relentless calls bombarded the driver of Master Y's car.
The driver responded hastily, "Yes, yes, we're almost there."
"Alright, maybe another twenty minutes."
Was she kidding? She knew full well how far the secluded research institute was from the city center's robotics technology arena!
At least a two-hour journey.
She knew this yet continued to push relentlessly.
It was maddening.
Master Y sat in the car, listening to Lucille's low growls, a faintly mocking smile tugging at her lips.
How ridiculous!
If this woman weren't absolutely desperate, she certainly wouldn't have let her out of that dark, coal-mine-like research institute.
The audience inside the arena had grown impatient, voicing their dissatisfaction. "What's going on? Where is Master Y? We've waited so long, why hasn't she appeared?"
"You aren't tricking us, are you? It's already dark outside!"
"Exactly, how long are we supposed to wait?"
Everyone began expressing their discontent loudly.
Sylvia was getting hungry from waiting. She rubbed her stomach. "It's past dinner time; why isn't she here yet?"
"Master Y is probably far from here," Franklin glanced at Jax. "Go buy some bread from the restaurant. Sylvia needs something to tide her over."
Jax nodded immediately and headed towards the restaurant.
Just as Jax returned with bread, a screech of brakes echoed from the entrance of the arena hall.
The noisy crowd fell silent for a moment, each person craning their necks to look towards the door.
"Is it really Master Y?"
"I'm so excited."
"Is it really her?"
"Hurry up! Come in!"
Some even started moving towards the door, eager to catch a glimpse of the legendary figure Y.
Amidst everyone's anticipation, three people slowly entered from outside.
Two men in black supported a masked middle-aged woman as they came into view.
The middle-aged woman had graying temples and a slender figure, appearing somewhat frail. She wore a loose shirt tucked into black trousers, revealing a slim waist.
On her feet were soft-soled shoes that made almost no sound as she walked.
She moved slowly, as if she truly wasn't in good health, just as Lucille had said.
The two men in black stood on either side of her. To Sylvia, it seemed more like they were guarding her than assisting her walk.
As if they were afraid she might escape.
"Master Y, may I interview you?"
A reporter excitedly rushed up to her and asked loudly, "You're so mysterious. Can you take off your mask?"
Seeing him rush up regardless of anything else, other reporters quickly followed suit. "Master Y, why have you remained so mysterious all these years? What's the reason?"
It had been many years since Master Y had seen so many people surrounding her. Cameras clicked incessantly around her.
She glanced distantly at Lucille standing by the robot. Lucille stood with arms crossed, glaring coldly at her as if warning her that any wrong word would send her straight to hell.
Master Y's lips curled faintly. Her hoarse voice carried an inexplicable weakness. "For research."
"Everyone please make way. Let Master Y come through to fix the robot's malfunctioning program," Lawrence urged impatiently. He quickly stepped forward and respectfully said to Master Y, "Please follow me."
Lawrence held great respect for such a prominent figure in technology.
He led Master Y to the robot without sparing Lucille a glance. She first examined the robot before reaching out with dry hands to operate on its control panel.
Sylvia only saw her slender back beneath the loose shirt appear even more fragile.
It was hard to associate this frail middle-aged woman with the tech giant Y standing before them.
Everyone held their breath as they watched Master Y. What had been difficult for Crimson Team seemed as simple as eating or drinking under her fingers.
Strings of incomprehensible code flowed from her fingertips as the control panel's code updated and changed continuously.
After about ten minutes, a dancing robot was repaired.
Seeing the robot finally stop dancing, Lucille breathed a sigh of relief.
The audience erupted into applause.
"Great! Amazing!"
"Master Y is incredible!"
Amidst cheers and applause, Master Y continued repairing other robots while Lawrence curiously asked about causes and solutions.
Master Y explained softly without any impatience.
It was clear she was a well-mannered woman.
Crimson Team members stood behind her attentively learning from her every move.
Occasionally they whispered among themselves.
It seemed as if these robots weren't even their creations; they appeared somewhat unfamiliar with them.
Vaughn stared wide-eyed at Master Y. "A true master."
"So detailed!"
He couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
In about half an hour, Master Y had repaired all the robots and provided instructions for daily maintenance and handling methods.
Lucille finally smiled and said, "Master Y must be tired now. Please escort her back to rest. After all, mental labor is more exhausting than physical labor."
As soon as she finished speaking, the two men in black by Master Y's side led her away immediately.
She walked slowly as if lacking strength; her whole demeanor seemed devoid of energy.
Sylvia watched as people surrounded Master Y and couldn't help but squeeze through the crowd herself.
She stared blankly at Master Y until she finally reached the front row.
However, just as she got there, Master Y brushed past her shoulder-to-shoulder.
In that fleeting moment of passing by each other, Sylvia felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity wash over her.
But why it felt familiar eluded her understanding entirely-a strange sensation indeed-like something long forgotten...
As she pondered this odd feeling internally while observing several reporters rushing towards Master Y with questions ready on their lips...
More reporters gathered around along with some fans unwilling to let go so soon...
The two men guarding Master Y struggled against such enthusiastic crowds pressing closer...
Who pushed whom first? Who kicked whom first? Chaos ensued rapidly...
Several reporters fell onto floors while some fans got trampled underfoot...
"Ouch!" Even amidst chaos surrounding them all around...
Master Y herself found no escape from being jostled unexpectedly onto ground...
Instinctively Sylvia pushed through throngs towards where she lay fallen...
Her heart clenched tightly seeing this unfold before eyes...
Why did she feel compelled forward despite knowing full well whose side this woman belonged?
Sylvia urgently called out amidst thronging masses: "Make way! Please make way!"
"You've trampled your idol-Master Y-move aside!"
She pushed through relentlessly until reaching where Master Y lay...
At that moment simultaneously...
The slender middle-aged woman turned towards Sylvia...
