Chapter 23: Nathan’s Anger
Evans froze. “Where?”
Nathan stood up and picked up his jacket. “Don’t worry about it. Stay home. I’ll take care of it.”
“But—”
“No.” Nathan’s voice was cold and final. “Just stay here.”
He leaned down, kissed Evans’s forehead, and left.
Nathan stepped into a dark building with metal walls and dim lights. A man in black led him through a hallway until they reached a cold, concrete room.
Inside, the chubby man was tied to a chair. His face was already swollen.
Nathan walked in slowly. His boots echoed on the floor. The man looked up, eyes shaking.
The man swallowed hard then begged “M-Master Nathan… It was a mistake! I didn’t mean—”
Nathan didn't wait and punched him across the face.
“Urgghh!” The man groaned, blood spilling from his mouth.
Nathan grabbed his collar. “You touched what’s mine. Why?”
“I-I heard him!” the man stuttered. “He was talking with someone named Leo. They said something about being careful of you… I thought he was special. I wanted to give him to you… as a gift! Please!”
Nathan’s fist slammed into his ribs.
“You think you can touch what is mine?” he spat. “You drugged him, then Touched him with your filthy hand, I want you to fucking pay!.”
Nathan didn’t stop. He gave Blow after blow, He made sure every punch hurt. The man continued to scream and blood soon stained the floor.
When Nathan was done, he looked down at the man, panting.
“Make sure he never forgets this,” he said to the guards. “And dump him where no one finds him.”
He walked out, blood on his clothes and hands.
He entered the shower room, threw off his shirt, and stepped under cold water. The blood washed away slowly, But the anger inside didn’t.
Meanwhile, Evans sat cross-legged on the floor, sorting through his medical notes and books. He had already cleaned up the living room and was now folding some clothes.
Just then his phone rang, He opened his phone and saw Megan’s name. He felt helpless and really didn't want to listen to her tactic, but still, he picked it up.
“Evans… please,” her voice was quiet and shaky. “I need to talk to you. Can we meet tomorrow?”
Evans stared at the wall, silent for a moment. Then he nodded slowly.
“Okay.”
He hung up and sighed.
Just then, the door opened and Nathan walked in. Fresh clothes. Damp hair. Tired eyes.
Evans looked at his changed cloth but didn't ask him anything, only said “You’re back,” Evans said softly.
Nathan nodded then suddenly said, “Let’s go for a walk.”
Evans blinked and wondered why all of a sudden but he didn't argue “A walk?”
“Yeah. You’ve been locked in all day, Let’s get some air.”
They walked side by side under the sky. Nathan had his hands in his pockets, and Evans skipped beside him, occasionally pointing at silly things like a crooked mailbox or a tree shaped like a duck.
For once, Nathan smiled.
They turned a corner and passed a small pet store.
Evans stopped. “Wait! Let’s go in!”
Nathan groaned. “Why?”
“Come on, please? Just to look.”
They entered. The bell above the door jingled. Inside, cats, rabbits, and dogs made soft sounds.
Evans gasped. “Look at that cat!” He knelt in front of a small white kitten with big blue eyes.
Nathan frowned. “I don’t like fluffy things.”
Evans pouted. “But he likes you. Look, he’s staring at you.”
The kitten meowed.
“That’s not staring. That’s judging,” Nathan muttered.
Evans looked up with a teasing smile. “I’ll take care of it. I’ll feed it, wash it, clean its poop. Please?”
Nathan stared at the kitten. It sneezed.
He sighed. “Fine. But it’s staying out of the bedroom.”
Evans hugged him. “Thank you!”
Nathan rolled his eyes but let a small smile slip.
They walked out of the store, Evans holding a box with the kitten inside.
“What’s its name?” Nathan asked.
Evans thought for a moment. Then grinned.
“Fluffy.”
Nathan groaned. “We’re returning it.”
Evans laughed loudly. “Too late!”
And just like that, the evening felt lighter.
The next day, the sun rose gently over the city. Students rushed to class with backpacks swinging behind them. Evans walked calmly through the school gate, his books hugged to his chest. He wore a soft smile, feeling lighter than before. Maybe things were finally getting better, of course, why wouldn't it be? Things had been pretty normal between him and Nathan, and to be honest, he hoped things continued to stay that way.
His classes went smoothly, though his thoughts often drifted to Nathan and their time together. Call him shameless, but he couldn't stop thinking about that night sex. It had been crazy and just thinking about how Nathan had kept banging into him he that night—
Evans trembled as he thought about it then he looked around to see if anyone was looking then awkwardly covered the down part of his body with a book.
When the final bell rang, he gathered his things and stretched tiredly, and Just as he was about to leave campus, his phone buzzed. A message popped up and seeing the name that showed he sighed again as he remembered he had promised to meet her.
Megan: “Can we meet at the coffee shop near school? I want to talk.”
Evans stared at the message for a few seconds, unsure. But he sighed and replied with a simple “Okay.”
