Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Along the road, Merri enjoys the beautiful scenery, like the green mountains and the sea waves dancing in the air. She closed her eyes and put her hand in the air.

“Time goes fast indeed…” she whispered as she closed her eyes. They're on their way back to Evan's mansion.

It was past one pm in the afternoon. The sun was strong, but the wind here in the mountains was cold enough to counter it.

“I would probably miss this place,” she whispered and slowly opened her eyes.

“Don't worry we can come back here if we have a chance,” Evan said, which made her glance at him.

He was sitting next to her. His personal driver was driving the car.

She smiles. “I hope so,” she replied and rested her head on the man's shoulder.

“You can take a nap, l will wake you up when we're almost there,” Evan whispered before he kissed her head.

“But, do you know where my parents' grave is? If l will sleep, who will give the instructions?” she said and lifted her head to see the man's face.

Evan stares at her for a moment. As if he was trying to figure out what she was thinking at that moment.

“Just tell me the name and the address and our driver will probably find ways to locate it,” Evan said to her.

“Ahm, okay. It's in Greenwood Rest,” she replied and then she rested her head once again at Evan's shoulder.

“I see. Don't worry, l got this. You can rest a little bit then,” Evan whispered to her and held her hand.

“I know I made you stay up late last night. So you need more sleep,” Evan added and then he brushes her hair using his fingers. She closed her eyes and squeezed herself to him. Evan immediately put his arms around her shoulders to pull her closer to him and support her.

“Rest well,” Evan whispered as he continued to brush her hair using his fingers as if he was doing it to help her fall asleep faster. After a few minutes, she slowly fell asleep.

Shortly, Merri wakes up when she feels something touching her cheeks. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Evan poking her cheeks.

“Hello, sleeping beauty. We're here,” Evan announced.

She immediately sat straight and scanned her eyes around, and she found out they're inside the Greenwood.

“Do you need time to fix yourself?” Evan suddenly asks her.

She blinked her eyes and glanced at him, then she nodded.

“Yes, please. Could you wait for me outside?” she requested.

Evan stares at her for a moment. “Alright, take your time.”

“Thank you,” she sincerely replied, and waved at him when he had already gotten out of the car and was about to close the door.

When she was finally alone. She took a deep breath and fixed her hair and clothes. Then, when she feels satisfied and ready, she gets out of the car.

“You're done?” Evan asks her when he saw her.

“Yes, shall we?” she replied.

“Sure, but wait. I will just get the flowers from your parents,” Evan told her, and walked toward the car compartment, and got the two baskets of flowers.

She bit her lower lip. God, how could she forget about bringing flowers? Luckily, Evan has emotional intelligence and buys it for them.

“Here, one for you and one for me,” Evan said and handed her one of the baskets. She immediately accepted it.

“Thank you. I forgot about it. Luckily you brought flowers for them,” she said, and lowered her gaze to the ground.

“Don't be so hard on yourself. You are tired and that's because of me. So, to make it up to you, I will do the things you couldn't do because of me,” Evan softly explained to comfort her.

“Oh, Evan.. Why are you so good to me?” she said, and couldn't help but be emotional.

“Shh, you deserve everything l'm giving for you,” Evan replied and pulled her and kissed her forehead.

She closed her eyes and savored the sweetness her husband was showing her.

“We should move faster before it gets dark,” Evan whispered, which made her step backwards and nod her head.

“Give me your hand,” Evan told her, while extending his hand.

She understood what he meant, and immediately gave her hand to him, and they walked towards her parents' grave while holding each other's hands.

A few minutes later, they finally arrive. Since her parents were buried in a public cemetery, they didn't have so much space or a proper gravestone.

“Tomorrow, we will schedule their transfer in the private cemetery,” Evan stated while looking at her parents' grave.

“Thank you so much, Evan. My parents will probably be happy knowing their son-in-law will take care of them even in their grave,” she said sincerely.

“Of course, without them you wouldn't be here and l would've probably met a wonderful wife like you. So giving them a proper grave would be just right,” Evan said, and put down the flowers to offer them to her parents.

“Thank you. You don't know how much you make me happy today. I don't know how I should repay you,” she said emotionally.

Evan pulled her and hugged her from behind. “As I always said, you deserve everything I'm giving to you, so you don't need to worry about repaying me. Just stay by my side, and never leave me, that would be enough for me,” Evan seriously said to her and rested his chin on her shoulder.

She closed her eyes and opened her mouth to speak.

“That's easy. Even if you don't command me to stay. I will stay by your side, Evan,” she whispered and then she lifted her head to see the man's handsome face.

Evan scanned her face, then he lowered his head and held her chin, and before she knew it, Evan's lips pressed against hers. She closed her eyes and, open her mouth to let his tongue in, she put her hand in the man's neck to deepened the kiss.

“That w.as good!” Evan stated when they ended the kiss. She just nodded her head and smiled at him.
