Chapter 123: Chapter 123
Greer’s POV
The closing ceremony of the National Beauty Trade Fair felt surreal, like I was watching it happen to someone else. The grand hall was packed, lights blazing down on the main stage as the host called out the final results.
My heart hammered so hard I could barely hear anything over the blood rushing in my ears. Cassey gripped my hand tightly behind the booth, both of us barely breathing.
“And the Grand Winner of this year’s National Beauty Trade Fair Brand Showcase… Lumina Bloom by Greer!” The words hit me like a thunderbolt. The entire hall erupted in applause. Cheers. Flashing cameras.
For a second, I froze, stunned. Then Cassey screamed and pulled me into a crushing hug.
“You did it! You actually did it!” she cried.
I walked toward the stage in a daze, legs shaking. The bright lights blinded me as I stepped up. The trophy felt heavy and real in my hands. It was a sleek crystal engraved with the fair’s emblem. But that wasn’t all. The host continued with a big smile,
“Along with the title, the grand winner receives a brand new Mercedes-Benz G-Class and a cash prize of two million dollars to support brand growth!”
The crowd went wild. I stood there, gripping the trophy, tears stinging my eyes as a representative handed me the keys to the Mercedes with a big red bow. Two million dollars. A luxury car. My brand, my brand had just been crowned the best. I stepped up to the microphone, voice thick with emotion.
“Thank you… thank you so much. This means more than you can imagine. Lumina Bloom was born from struggle, from being told I wasn’t enough. Tonight proves that resilience wins. To every woman fighting in silence, keep blooming. We’re unstoppable.”
The applause thundered again. I scanned the crowd as I stepped down and caught Calder’s eyes from the side of the hall. He wasn’t smiling openly, but the intense pride and heat in his gaze made my stomach flip. He gave me a slow, deliberate nod, a promise that we would celebrate later, away from prying eyes.
By the time I returned to the booth, my phone was exploding. Lumina Bloom had skyrocketed to number one trending in the beauty category and nationally. Hashtags like #LuminaBloomWins, #GreerRising, and #UnderdogVictory were flooding social media. Sales notifications kept pinging nonstop. Orders from major retailers were already coming in.
Cassey was jumping up and down, laughing through happy tears. “We’re number one, Greer! Number one!”
I laughed too, the sound was shaky and overwhelming. For the first time in what felt like forever, pure joy broke through the exhaustion and fear. All the sabotage, the attack from Indira, the confrontation with Veda, the emotional war, it hadn’t broken me. It had fueled me.
But even in the middle of triumph, shadows lingered. I knew Veda would be seething somewhere, especially after the scandal I had unleashed. Indira would be plotting with fresh venom. And Calder… our complicated situation was about to get even more dangerous now that I was in the spotlight.
Still, as I posed for photos with the trophy and keys to my new Mercedes, red lipstick shining under the lights, I felt something powerful settle deep in my chest.
I had won.
Not just the competition.
I had won against everyone who tried to bury me.
Lumina Bloom was no longer a small dream fighting for survival. It was a force. And I was just getting started.
Later that evening, as the hall began to empty and Cassey and I packed up with huge smiles, I allowed myself one quiet moment of reflection.
Two million dollars. A luxury car. National recognition. This was only the beginning of my bloom and no matter what storms came next from my mother, from Indira, or from the complicated fire between me and Calder, I would face them.
Stronger. Bolder. Unbreakable. I was Greer.
I was Lumina Bloom. And I was finally shining.
The hall was slowly emptying as Cassey and I finished packing up the last boxes. My arms ached, but the smile on my face refused to fade. The crystal trophy sat safely on top of one of the boxes, catching the light every time I moved. My phone kept vibrating with notifications, Lumina Bloom was firmly number one trending, and the comments were pouring in faster than I could read them.
A representative from the organizers approached me with a bright smile and a tablet. “Miss Greer, congratulations once again. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is waiting for you in the VIP parking area, fully transferred under your name. And the two million dollar prize has just been wired directly to your account. You should see it any second now.”
I refreshed my banking app. The notification popped up. The two million dollars, sitting there in my balance. My breath caught. It was real. Before we left the booth, I turned to Cassey, who was still buzzing with excitement. I took her hands in mine.
"Cassey… none of this would have happened without you. You believed in me when almost no one else did. You stood by me through the attacks, the sabotage, everything. I want you to have this.”
I quickly transferred five hundred thousand dollars to her account right there. Her eyes widened as her phone pinged. “Greer, no — I can’t accept this. I didn’t do it for money. You’re my friend. This is your win.”
I shook my head firmly, closing her fingers around her phone. “You deserve it. Take it. Buy yourself something nice, invest in your future, or just breathe easier for once. I’m not taking no for an answer. I know you have more than that but I want you to have that."
Cassey’s eyes filled with tears. She pulled me into a tight hug, whispering, “Thank you… thank you so much, Greer. I don’t even know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything,” I replied softly, hugging her back. “We did this together.”
We loaded the final boxes into my new sleek black Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The car smelled of luxury leather and fresh detailing. Cassey slid into the driver’s seat with a grin, carefully driving us home while I sat in the passenger seat, still in disbelief. The city lights blurred past the windows as she congratulated me again and again, both of us laughing and replaying the best moments of the day.
When we reached my apartment building, she parked smoothly and hugged me once more before heading off in her own car.
