Chapter 50 Chapter 50
Tessa
By ten we were all tipsy, well on the way to drunk; the drinks were flowing freely. Sarah and Maria were on the dance floor dancing. Ben was telling us about a customer he had last night and about what they were talking about that had us laughing. I felt the phone vibrate, and I pulled it out—a message.
KAI: Be careful, beauty; don’t drink too much.
TESSA: Where are you?
I waited; I saw the three dots appear, then disappear, then appear again.
KAI: Close by
I dropped the phone back into the clutch. I didn't have time to deal with him. Sarah grabbed me and pulled me onto the dance floor. We were dancing when I felt hands on me. When I spun around, a guy was behind me; I pushed him away. Sarah, Maria, Ben, and Liam were beside me in an instant.
“Back off, buddy,” Liam said, getting in between us.
“Hey, we’re just having fun. Come on, sweetheart,” the guy said, his words slurring as he tried grabbing me. Suddenly he was pulled away as if someone grabbed him from behind.
The music stopped, and people stopped dancing. Kai was standing there, dressed in black with his signature hat and mask, with only his eyes visible.
“Holy shit,” Ben murmured. He just looked at me. He then turned around and grabbed the guy and began dragging him out. After a few minutes the music came back on and the atmosphere went back to normal. I tried to shake it off but couldn't. We left around eleven. Ben was drunk, and so was Sarah. After they left, I made my way to my car. My steps were unsure, and when the cold air hit me, the alcohol hit hard.
I was too drunk to drive. I fumbled with the keys, opening the door and getting in. I pulled my phone out; my vision was getting blurry. I dialed his number.
“Beauty?” he answered on the first ring.
“Kai, I… I’m too drunk to drive… Can you…?”
“Where are you, beauty?” he asked, cutting me off.
“In… in my car, not far from the club.”
“I’ll be there in a few minutes, beauty; stay in the car,” he said, ending the call. I dropped the phone back into the clutch and leaned back against the seat, closing my eyes.
A few seconds later I heard a knock on the window. I turned and opened my eyes; his entire body was blocking the window. I unlocked the door, and he held it open for me as I got out. She stood looking at me, his eyes piercing into me.
“Let’s go, beauty; Jax will get the car. Can you walk?” he asked. Before I could answer, he picked me up, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he walked towards his car. He smelled clean and smoky; it was a heady scent. I leaned into him.
I heard a car door open, and he got in with me, still holding me. I heard another car door slam, and the car started. I didn't even bother trying to pull the mask off; I wanted to but didn't. I could easily see who he was.
I moved, straddling him, looking into his eyes.
“Careful, beauty,” he murmured.
I raised my hands slowly up to his face, and he caught my hand, his eyes staring into mine. After a few seconds he let go of my hands, I leaned in, closing my eyes and pulling the mask off, and kissed him. I leaned into him; I felt his hands cup the back of my neck, pulling me into him.
He deepened the kiss; when he groaned into my mouth, my body shook.
“Beauty, if you don't stop, you’ll end up with my cock buried to the hilt in your pussy,” he said with a groan.
“Yes,” I whispered into his mouth.
“Fuck,” he groaned. ”Keep your eyes closed,” he said. I felt the car come to a stop, I heard the door open, and he moved. He got out and began walking with me, his hands around me and my legs wrapped around him. I heard the door open and then close.
Suddenly I was on something soft, probably my bed. “Can I open my eyes?” I asked, but I didn't hear anything.
When I opened my eyes, the lights in the room were on, and I was alone. I sat up, and my head began swinging. My clutch was on the bedside table.
I stood up and walked out to the living room; it was quiet. I walked back into the room; he was gone. He actually left, and I began laughing. I stripped and headed into the shower. After my shower, I wore my pajamas and got into bed and pulled the covers over me.
I was deep in sleep and i felt it, the deep dipped and the air changed, my eyes flew open and suddenly a hand was around my waist pulling me into something hard. His cologne hit me first, and he buried his face in my hair.
“Sorry, beauty, something important came up, an emergency,” he murmured.
I didn't answer him; I just couldn't. I didn't even care at this point. I had my freedom, and him showing up and climbing into my bed at all random hours was a very small price to pay for my freedom and protection.
“Beauty, are you angry?” he asked, but I didn't answer. He squeezed my waist tighter. “Beauty, don’t be like that,” he said. I still didn't answer; I wasn't angry or anything, I was just tired. I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep.
Suddenly he moved and pulled me and was over me, and my eyes flew open.
“Kai, don’t,” I said, and he paused. I had told him my rule: don't touch me without my permission. Now I would see if he respected me enough to accept and follow my rule.
“A family member had an accident; I’m sorry I left you like that,” he said before burying his face in the crook of my neck; he bit me, marking me again.
“I’m not mad or angry, just tired,” I said truthfully.
“Okay,” he answered, kissing my forehead. He moved and pulled me back into him and just held me. He really wasn't going to try and force me. I closed my eyes and let the sleep consume me.
Kai
I wanted her, but I would respect her wishes; I wouldn't touch her without her permission. The fact that she called me because she was drunk was good enough for me. She didn't need a job, didn't need to work, but that was what she wanted, and I let it slide, but she was running herself down.
I squeezed her waist. “Bryce’s mother’s funeral. Will you be going?”
“Yes. Anthony messaged me earlier this evening; the funeral is tomorrow,” she replied.
"I see.”
