Chapter 636: Not Speaking

The reporters swarmed in, bombarding everyone with questions.

Flora was exhausted and had no desire to answer any questions. She hid behind Zoey, who was equally worn out.

Zoey said, "We're really tired and need to rest. We'll talk in three days."

They needed time to heal their wounds.

With that, Zoey led the Dawn Squad away. The reporters wanted to follow, but they were just journalists, not special forces.

There was no stopping the squad.

Back at the dorm, Flora collapsed into bed without a word.

Everyone else tended to their wounds, changed clothes, showered, ate, or slept.

No one had the energy to talk.

Zoey and Henry were no exception.

Shadow Warlord had the least severe injuries, just some scrapes.

Zoey looked pale.

Shadow Warlord offered to cook for everyone. They were too exhausted to refuse.

Six hours later, everyone was up.

Shadow Warlord had timed the meal perfectly. They gathered in the living room, looking disheveled and worn out.

No one cared about appearances. They sat on the floor, bowls in hand, eating hungrily.

No one criticized them. They had just survived a crisis and were still shaken.

After eating, Flora finally asked, "Zoey, what do we do next? Mr. Stewart set us up so many times. Are we just going to let it go?"

"What do you want to do?" Linda asked.

"Get revenge!"

Flora wasn't usually vengeful, but she couldn't stand being manipulated.

"We almost died several times. Shouldn't we get back at him?"

"Sure, but do you have a plan?"

Flora deflated. "I have ideas, but Zoey's the one with the plans. She's amazing!"

She looked at Zoey expectantly.

"Revenge is necessary, but it's not our priority right now."

Zoey looked around.

Everyone still looked unwell, despite resting for a few hours. They were injured and poisoned.

"I've contacted Kerry. We're meeting Mr. Stewart to get the serum."

"Will he give it to us?"

"And doesn't he only have one dose?"

Flora and Glenn asked anxiously.

Zoey smiled.

Flora was puzzled. "Zoey, why are you smiling? Did we say something wrong?"

"Do you really believe he only has one dose?"

Flora's eyes widened. "What do you mean? Was he lying? Why would he do that? He used the serum to threaten us. If he didn't have it, we wouldn't be afraid of him."

"If he wants to control us with it, he needs to make it seem scarce."

If it were common, Zoey could make it herself.

"True," Flora muttered, then turned to Alvin. "This is good news for you."

Alvin looked down.

He hadn't smiled since they returned.

"I don't need the serum."

"Why not?" Everyone was happy to have escaped the crisis and thought of good things.

No one considered the worst.

Flora joked, "Did your leg heal itself after the crisis?"

"Do you think that's possible?"

Alvin looked at her blankly.

Flora was stunned. "No way, is your leg..."

She couldn't finish.

"My leg probably won't heal." Alvin laughed bitterly. "You always called me a cripple. Now your wish has come true. I'm going to be paralyzed."

"I was just joking." Flora didn't like him, but she didn't wish him paralyzed.

She looked at Zoey.

"Zoey, do something."

Zoey knelt in front of Alvin and squeezed his knee.

Alvin remained expressionless.

"I'm going to test your leg. If you feel anything, let me know right away," Zoey said.

Alvin nodded.

Zoey squeezed his leg, watching his face closely.

At first, Alvin showed no reaction. Then, as she squeezed a spot on his knee, he frowned.

He seemed surprised.

"It..."

"It has feeling," Zoey said, looking up.

Alvin nodded, excited. He hadn't felt his leg since they returned, no matter how hard he squeezed or hit it.

It was like his legs didn't exist.

If he couldn't see them, he'd think they were gone.

But now he felt something.

"How did you do that?"

Zoey stood and sat next to Henry. "Your leg has a minor issue. It won't paralyze you. It just needs time to heal. But you need the serum soon. If you wait ten days or more, you might really be crippled."

"Okay, I'll do what you say."

Alvin instantly became obedient.

Flora was stunned. "Where's the attitude you had with me?"

"You can't heal my leg."

But the biggest problem was solved. Glenn said, "I really don't want to see Mr. Stewart."

He seemed like a demon.

"Who said we're going to see him?" Zoey asked.

Flora was confused. "Is he coming to see us?"

Zoey didn't answer, looking at the door.

Someone knocked.

Flora thought it was impossible. She opened the door and was shocked to see Blake.

He really came.

"Can I come in?"

Blake asked politely.

Flora stepped aside.

Blake and Kerry entered.

"I'd prefer to meet in my office, but you're heroes. We'll accommodate your reasonable requests."

Blake started with pleasantries.

Zoey sipped her water.

She didn't respond, and neither did anyone else.

Blake glanced at Kerry.

Kerry cleared his throat. "Mr. Stewart knows you had a tough mission and got hurt. He wants to compensate and reward you. If you have any requests, let us know. We'll do our best to fulfill them."

"We do have a request," Zoey spoke, her gaze cold. "But can you fulfill it?"

"Of course. Mr. Stewart..."

"I mean you. Do you have the authority?"

Kerry was speechless.

Blake waved him back. "You can tell me. I have the authority."

"The serum."

Zoey didn't beat around the bush.

Alvin tried to stay calm, trusting Zoey to handle Blake.

"Okay."

Blake agreed easily.

"And I want a grand celebration in two weeks."

"I didn't think you liked parties." Blake smiled, almost calling her vain.

Zoey caught the hint but didn't care.

"You said we completed a great mission. We're the Dawn Squad, we're heroes. Don't heroes deserve medals?"

Blake had said those words before. They were perfect to shut him up.

Blake nodded. "No problem."

"I haven't thought of a third request yet. I'll save it for later."

Blake smiled dismissively. "Who said you get three requests?"

"You didn't say we couldn't have three."

Blake took a deep breath. "Do you have a fourth request?"

"No, I'm not greedy."

Blake stood. "I've arranged for fruit and new clothes, and added funds to your cards. I've also called a doctor. If you need anything, contact Kerry."

"Thanks. Goodbye."

Zoey dismissed him.

Blake walked to the door, but Zoey's voice stopped him.

"I want the serum by midnight. If it's not here, I'll assume you don't plan to give it. And then... who knows what this hero might do."

Blake turned sharply. "Are you threatening me?"
