Chapter 82: Out of Control

"Hello?"

Holland, slightly out of breath, spoke into the phone, "May I ask who's calling?"

Covington squinted slightly, lightly biting her earlobe, causing Holland to scream.

"Mr. Drake!"

Holland coquettishly said, "You don't..."

The person on the other end of the phone breathed heavily and immediately hung up. Covington raised an eyebrow and distanced himself from her.

"Lately, have you been receiving many calls like this?" Covington asked thoughtfully.

Holland nodded. "Some calls are silent when answered, while others are seeking medical advice. But with my finger injured like this, I can't see patients at the moment. The hospital has been urging me for a long time; Dr. Yannis told me to come back to the hospital, but I don't need to see patients, just to collect my salary."

"They all like you."

Covington pushed her hair behind her ear and said, "I'll take you home first, then go to the police station to handle Roman's matter."

"No need, I'll go back by myself." Holland didn't want to take up his time.

"Then I'll have Tate take you home."

"Okay."

During such a special period, Holland did not prefer to travel alone.

Covington's gaze fell on her shoulder, lightly picking at her strap with his finger, a hint of a smile hidden in his throat. "Your strap is showing."

In a state of confusion, one always lacks self-control. Holland blushed. She bit her lip and straightened her clothes.

"Tate's car is parked at the entrance of the building."

"I know. Mr. Drake, goodbye!" Holland walked briskly, reached the door, then turned back. She tiptoed and kissed Covington on the corner of his lips. "This is return the favor."

After speaking, she ran out.

Covington's eyes darkened slightly. Once he fell in love, sometimes he couldn't control himself. His patience was running thin.

Yet she unconsciously seduced him.

Holland went downstairs and returned home in a cheerful mood.

Donovan sat in the living room, looking particularly anxious.

Seeing her, Donovan quickly stood up to greet her. "Holland!"

Holland paused, politely calling out, "Donovan."

"Holland, can you come with me somewhere? I have an emergency." Donovan looked anxious, sweat beading on his forehead.

"I..."

"It's not dangerous, I beg you, please." Donovan interrupted her, pleading.

Holland furrowed her brow, eventually nodding reluctantly. Donovan and Korbin had always been kind to her, even better than her biological parents.

"I knew you were a good kid. Let's go! My car is parked outside." Donovan took her hand and led her outside.

They got into the car, which immediately started. Holland looked at the familiar scenery and asked, "Are we going to the Drakes' Family Mansion?"

Donovan's expression was not quite natural as he hesitantly explained, "There's a situation at Morgan's place, and I don't trust anyone else, so I had to find you. Holland, I'm not trying to make things difficult for you. Just help me out."

Holland remained calm. She remembered what Covington had told her at the Drakes' Group. He said that tonight, something would happen at the Drakes Family Mansion. She looked out the window; the sun was setting, casting a glow of twilight.

It would be dark soon.

After an hour's drive, the car finally pulled up at the grand and imposing Drakes Family Mansion.

"Holland, hurry up!" Donovan was in a rush.

   Following him, Holland jogged inside.

The butler, Prescott, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw them. "You've finally arrived. Mr. Morgan and Mr. Ramsey are still in the room. It's insane!"

After speaking, he led the way. Holland noticed the hurried and anxious expressions of the mansion's servants. Even the usually arrogant Daphne was nowhere to be seen.

She had a strong intuition that something significant had happened here.

"Is Morgan inside?"

Donovan sighed; he knew Roman had been arrested, and Ramsey had done something absurd again.

Their family was truly unfortunate! He felt even more sympathy for Morgan.

"Mr. Morgan is indeed inside. But Mr. Morgan instructed that if Miss Brooks arrived, she should go in alone," Prescott reminded.

Donovan pointed to himself. "Can't I get in? But Holland..."

Holland tightly pressed her lips, looking at the door in front of her. "I'll get in by myself."

She placed her hand on the door handle and gently pushed it open. Blocked by a wall of bookshelves, she couldn't make out what was going on in the bedroom. This was her second time in Morgan's bedroom.

Prescott closed the door behind her. Holland hesitated before walking in. She saw Ramsey being restrained on the floor by a burly bodyguard, his face contorted in pain. Morgan sat with closed eyes in a recliner, a few pills left on the table.

"You're here." Morgan's voice was hoarse and weary as he slightly opened his eyes to look at Holland, devoid of any spark.

"Did you come here on purpose?" Holland looked at Ramsey, who was in a sorry state on the ground, then turned her gaze back to Morgan.

"Yes." Morgan's tone towards her had softened.

He waved his hand and said, "Could you please check what's in these pills for me?"

Holland approached cautiously, picked up the pills, and sniffed them. It was a familiar scent.

"These pills contain poison. Ingesting them directly would lead to poisoning and death. This is the medicine Zane used to take on Mr. Drake." Holland said lightly.

Morgan took a deep breath after hearing her. "Bastard!"

He smashed the glass in his hand towards Ramsey, instantly causing a swelling on his forehead.

"Morgan!" Ramsey cried, tears streaming down his face in agony. "It's all because Covington is too ruthless. He sent my father to prison, and now he has to deal with me. I must get thirty percent of the shares to stand up to him."

Morgan was so angry that he coughed for a while.

"Even if you get the shares, you won't be able to stand up to him."

"Why? Why are you also siding with Covington? Since your seventieth birthday party, you've been wanting to give the shares to Covington, right?" Ramsey roared, lifting his head defiantly, his eyes filled with hatred.

Morgan spoke in a hoarse voice, "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have been biased. During the car accident, I cleaned up the mess for you because I didn't want to lose both grandsons at the same time. I didn't expect you to be even more excessive. Have I not been good enough to you?"

"You've been good to us because we're easy to control, right? Whatever you say, we listen to you. We're not like Covington, who has his own opinions."

Ramsey laughed bitterly, his eyes red with anger.

Morgan waved his hand in disappointment and said, "You poisoned today, and I won't hold you responsible for it. Take him out; I don't want to see him."

Morgan never expected that at seventy, he would lose all his loved ones. The bodyguard escorted Ramsey out of the room, leaving only Holland and Morgan in the spacious room.

"You must have found it amusing," Morgan said, eyeing Holland.

Holland remained calm, looking at him. "You didn't call me here just to identify the poison, did you?"

Morgan whispered, "Go open the first drawer of the bedside table."

Holland's brow furrowed as she approached the desk. She slid open the top drawer to reveal its contents.
