Chapter 13: The Right Spanking

This one sentence hit me where it hurt the most.

"Damn these tears," I sniffled and scrubbed my cheeks hard.

"Mia, you know I would never. I didn't mean to," he was saying and I was nodding.

Bobbing my head up and down because I understood.

"My stupid tears just won't stop falling," I chuckled, trying to bubble with laughter, but he wasn't buying it.

His expression was creased with guilt. And somehow that brought me relief.

"What are you doing with my breeder so late at night?" The voice thundered through my emotions as I found myself wanting to hide behind Kylanor. Before I could take that step, Ashton had grabbed my hand and put me behind him.

"He hurt you?" he asked me as he peered into my eyes.

I was shaking my head and saying no. But he wasn't listening.

"You bastard!" he roared, swinging his fist high in the air and landing the force on Kylanor's face.

I heard right... I heard a crack.

"Wait, he didn't do anything..." I cried out, my tears momentarily dried up to face the elephant in the room.

I noticed then how dark it was.

"Stay out of this. You didn't finish your food and this bastard took you away. Do you realize what you were brought here for?"

"I just needed a stroll. I needed to get some fresh air. He didn't kidnap me or anything."

"Let me remind you, human!" he turned to me while Kylanor groaned and staggered to rise to his feet, "you are here to bear my heir and nothing more. You do not deserve the luxury of sightseeing. Fatten up and put yourself to use."

"But he..." I wanted to say more words in Kylanor's defense, but our eyes met at that moment and he shook his head at me, showing me his bloody teeth in a painful smile.

It was all my fault.

My chest constricted with guilt.

"I don't keep useless things around!" he warned, his white fangs shone under the moonlight and a fear of the unknown gripped me.

I remembered Kylanor's words then... "A fate worse than death" from this man who had killed his own blood out of greed.

"So you choose," he tugged my arm and threw me in between himself and his brother.

"Do you want to be of use or would you rather sightsee as a corpse?"

I gulped.

Kylanor, I looked towards him but this time, he avoided my gaze. He was trying to help me... Trying to tell me to choose the right thing and I wouldn't have done that, because choosing Ashton was literally the beginning of the terrible fate.

But I knew that he wouldn't hesitate to hurt Kylanor if I did that.

The punch was bloody enough.

"I'm sorry, I won't leave my room again," I lowered my head and answered.

Tears pooled in my eyes and fell, silently.

A sob tearing through me would be worse than accepting defeat so I tightened my lips together.

"I thought as much," he said and jerked me over to his side, I almost stumbled.

And if I hadn't raised my head to see his dark face at that moment, I wouldn't have noticed the triumphant look in his eyes. Was I nothing more than a prize, a trophy in his eyes?

"Now let's get you back to your room," before I could process the full depth of his words, he made a move that made me feel weightless despite the fact that I was feeling bloated.

The ground tilted, dipped then spun over, then he bent me in half over his shoulder.

I sucked my stomach in, but the scales on his shoulder still dipped in my flesh. It would bruise no doubt. Yet I couldn't complain. Aside from the muffled groan that left my throat when he hoisted me up.

Besides, there was someone in a worse situation than me.

Kylanor's lip was burst and bleeding yet he shook his head at me to calm me.

The smile he offered stung my eyes and my hate for his brother deepened. Because the more he tried to tell me it was okay, the more I wanted to fight for him. So even if I couldn't hit him back, I could jab him with my words.

Ashton reminded me of the ingrate I shared blood with. He took from me and when I tried to draw boundaries or do things for myself, he only got more violent, aiming to hurt me to satisfy his selfish desires.

"He didn't do anything wrong," the words bounced out my throat with each step.

"That's what Kylanor made you think," his reply came with a dry chuckle. I squinted trying to make sense.

Kylanor said everything as it was, and it was him who acted with deceit, yet he was trying to label Kylanor as manipulative.

If I hadn't spent time with him, I would have had my doubts. But I knew better.

"I can think for myself. Plus I have eyes, after all, you're not the one with a burst lip," I argued as the distance between us and Kylanor widened just before we rounded a dark corridor into the house.

It was unfamiliar, given how I'd gotten out through the window.

"Looks like we'll have to put those smart lips of yours to good use," his hand came to my backside as he ended his sentence with a smack.

I would have expected it to hurt because of the strength Monster Beasts carried.

But not this one.

For the first time, a spank felt just right on my ass and I couldn't bring myself to complain.

It felt so right that I could only swallow the rest of my words and moan out.

I mean cry out... damn it!
