Jamal Kunis POV
I felt the burning urge to ignore her pleading and force myself on her but there was this tender innocence that her pleading radiated that made it intensely difficult to ignore the pleading.
“Why are you pleading?” I asked. It vexed me that I had paid a large amount of money I had paid only to have this girl refuse me. things were not done that way. “Why then did you agree to the contract if you were going to plead? Did you not read the contract?”
“It wasn’t me,” the Methis said.
“What?” I was genuinely confused.
“It was my stepmother who sold me I swear. She just did it out of nowhere.” She sat up on the bed but still did not dare to look me in the eyes as we talked. “I had no idea we were going to do this on my first night. I had not prepared for such thing, my lord. If only you could just give me a little time to adapt, I promise I would not be this way.”
I held her face and stared into her eyes, adjusting her head so she stared back. Tiny traces of tears had begun to trickle down from her eyes onto her cheek. But now was no time to be weak, now was a time to step up so I could save myself and the entire werewolf world from plunging itself into utter chaos. Did this girl not understand? Of course, she did not. She was human and all they cared and ever thought about was their feeling. Delicate creatures, those ones, I said to myself.
I hardened my heart from the pleas of Methis who was just right in front of me, pleading in her soft tune with an eye filled with tears and a mask of fear washed across all over her face. It was almost as if I was torturing her as if I was a monster. It was probably the way she saw me now.
“I will not ask politely again,” I said, my own anger pounding hard against my heart.
Methis sniffed and pulled herself up, kneeling on the so she could be at par in terms of height with me who was currently standing at the edge of the bed. She tugged at my clothes, doing her very best to take them off. She was not very good at it. Either that or her shaky hands would not just let her do as she was commanded smoothly. With my help, she was able to take my shirt off and she now fondled with my belt. It was a simple belt so it did not take long before she took it off. However, she hesitated to take off my trousers. Perhaps for fear of what would come next after that. She leaned back, sparing a quick glance at my face and catching my eyes before looking down.
At this point I was already turned off, her demeanor had killed any ounce of mood I had previously had. I turned to her, watching as she struggled to not break down into complete tears. The memories of the Dark Witch came in a flash and I was convinced that this could not be her. The attitude did not just match in any way. The Dark Witch did not fear me, in fact, the Dark Witch feared nothing, there was no way she was going to weep over being intimate when for a fact I knew that that little whore must had slept with a variety of creatures aside werewolves.
But Methis was different, soft in every way including her heart and light in weight, I had my doubts as to whether she was even capable of killing a fly without being traumatized by the experience. She lacked confidence, she lacked power, she lacked everything that was needed to become a suitable mate for a Lycan King such as myself and I felt insulted by it. In the peak of my youthful days and now, even now, I had had more suitors than this girl could dream of having an entire lifetime. I have had noblewoman try to woo me, female werewolves from various powerful clans, and even a witch the nearly as much power as a goddess yet this mere human had the audacity to look at him in his own room when they were nearly into it and reject him, telling him that she was not ready. An insult it might had been but I could not vet out my anger on her.
That would be a futile thing to do as she was so weak that a jab or even as little as a shove would kill the girl. In as much as I had a name to protect and an entire werewolf world to save, I was in control now. Complete control.
Reluctantly, I stood up from the bed, looking down at Methis with anger. Anger that I did not want to show out for her to see.
“You can go,” I said. “Get out.”
She rushed to her feet immediately and took a quick bow shuffling to where her clothes laid and dressing up in haste. “Thank you, my lord,” she muttered.
“Just get out.” I was trying my best not to lose my cool and I think the tone of my voice was betraying my true feelings.
I sat on the bed, quiet as a graveyard. There is no way I would allow this human to toy with my emotions, I would not allow it. Not today, not in a million years. However, it was quite queer, I had to admit, that just a few seconds ago I was having this deep craving for that human – someone who I had promised myself that I would have no attachment towards. Yet, the rejection hurt like a spear to the chest.
Her likeness to the Dark Witch still could not leave me and the more I thought about it, the angrier I became about the rejection which unsurprising enough, had begun to form a connection and bear a resemblance to the betrayal I had suffered in the hands of the Dark Witch. I clenched my fist in frustration. What the hell was wrong with my Beta? Of all the girls the world had to offer, he just had to go for the one that would mess with my head. The one that resembled the woman that I once loved.
My anger flared in me and I called one of my many servants. “Get me the Beta. We have combat training to talk about.”
A few minutes later, the Beta entered. “You know if I hadn’t known you long enough, I would have guessed you were drunk,” Conrad joked. “What sort of combat training do you want to engage in in the middle of the night?”
“Where did you get the girl?” I asked.
“What girl?”
“Don’t play dumb, Conrad.” There were quite a lot of things I needed to get off my chest and the tension I was feeling because of this human girl was one of them.
“Oh. Methis, they call her.” Conrad moved around my room as he spoke. “From the land of the human. That’s where I found her. Just as you and the White Witch commanded. Is there a problem?”
“Something tells me you chose her as a tease.” I stared deep into Conrad’s eye. Unlike Methis, Conrad stared back, unmoving.
“I don’t get your meaning,” said Conrad to me.
“Why does she look so much like the Black Witch?”
“I did not create her. I don’t know.”
“Are you messing with me?” my anger was near uncontrollable now as I took dangerous steps loser and loser to Conrad. Conrad still did not back down. “Is this the start of your mutiny?”
Conrad scuffs. “Let’s get to combat training, shall we?” he said, waving off the topic of Methis I had just brought up. This made me angrier. “Let’s go to open field for the combat practice.”
“No.” I held Conrad on by his shoulders. By this time, he had begun to catch on to my intentions. “We can do combat practice right here.”
Conrad got the message and immediately tried to shield himself but I was quicker. One jab and he was flying across my room. He got back to his feet and lurched towards me in an attempt to escape but I was not having it now. I dodged his strike before tackling him to the floor and constraining both his hands behind his back.
He then tried to negotiate peace. “What are you doing?”
“What I should have done a while ago.” Then I began raining punches down on him, hitting him anywhere, everywhere: ears, eyes, mouth, nose, forehead, and head. Since his hands were constrained behind his back, the best he could do was to swerve his head from right to left, dodging the attacks to the best of his efforts.
After about a minute of brutality, Conrad was able to break free and then stood on his feet. I reached for an antique staff from off the wall and swung it towards his head. Conrad did not dodge and it connected with him, I swung again and it hit, and on my third swing I stopped, observing Conrad as he stood and watched me without an attempt to fight back anymore.
“Damn it, Jamal, do it for all I care. Do it for all I fucking care it won’t change a shit.” He was furious, so was I. “After everything, eh? I stood beside you every day for all your life being loyal to you. Being your bloody Beta. We fought the Dark Witch together when she deceived us.”
“I fought the Dark Witch!” I yelled back at him. “It was my fight! I was deceived!”
“Damn right you were deceived,” Conrad lowered his voice. He took a few steps closer to me as if wanting to whisper something important. “…but the entire pack went down hard with you, didn’t they?” the silence that followed his questions was deafening. “If I did not defect and follow the Dark Witch then when things were rough, why would I follow her now when we just discovered the solution to her curse?”
My mind wanted to come back because I wanted to bring her back, but it could not. Somehow there was sense in what Conrad was saying. Before I could say anything, Conrad turned around and walked to the door where he stopped. Without looking back, he said: “The gods know I’ll do anything to protect you. You can have my head should I ever stand against you.”
With that, Conrad exited my room and I was left alone with my thoughts. I have never heard him speak like that. I knew he talked like that because he was feeling deeply bitter about what had just transpired but in my state of mind, I could not care less. I still had my doubts about how he came across this girl and, maybe, just maybe, his motives.
Methis matched the description of what the White Witch had required to break the curse: an 18-year-old human virgin. But surely there had to be many more 18-year-old female virgins than this one. Why her? I asked nobody in particular. Why Methis?
