Chapter 60: All for love

"Nice to meet you, and I am sorry about the mishap from last night. I didn't know you were my little brother's wife. I only knew Larissa. I..."

"I want to talk to my husband. Alone."

Enrique raised a brow, and his eyes twitched. I could tell he was trying his best to reign in the actual demon he was since he was relying on Sin now.

"I don't think she likes me, brother."

"Do as she says," Sin said simply, his eyes resting on me. "Get out."

Enrique said something under his breath, then turned and walked away, closing the door noisily behind him. Silence enveloped the room, and I struggled to grasp what was happening.

If Sin knew about Enrique, if Sin knew how scared I was, why did he think it was a wise idea to test my bravery by bringing him right into the house?

"Why?" I managed to say, my eyes lifting to Sin. "Why would you do this to me?!"

"Because I can. Was I going to wait for you to scream his name every time I lie beside you? Definitely not. Because then, I would have killed him myself."

"Sin!" I yelled, my chest heaving as I got out of bed, trusting my wobbly legs to keep me afloat. "You don't know what he can do! He killed my mother right there! He... he..."

"Then think of them. Think of how you ran to the hospital with your father, despite what he had done to you. I brought him right at your feet. Choose. Are you going to let him go scot-free?"

I blinked, my chest heaving. It took a while for everything to sink, but once it did, I looked up to Sin, my brows furrowed.

"How do you know so much?"

His lips slightly pursed, and he took a deep breath. "You yelled most of it in your sleep, and I heard the rest from him."

"Does he remember me? Does he remember my mother?"

"He probably does," Sin said, his eyes meeting mine again. There was a bit of remorse in his eyes, and I wondered where that was coming from. He gave a small sigh, then covered the distance to me.

His hands gently held my shoulders, and he pulled me into his warmth, his other hand cupping the back of my head. I gave a small breath, then leaned into him, my eyes closed.

"I am scared, Sin. I am so scared."

He nodded, his fingers sifting through my hair. "I will fix you. I will find you. And if what you need is to be rebuilt all over again, then I will make you."

I leaned away, my eyes looking up to search his eyes. They were the deepest, darkest parts of him, and I searched for the sincerity I already heard in his voice.

He said nothing, then gently cupped the left side of my neck, his thumb running slowly across my skin. My lips parted as he slowly started to lean into me. My heartbeat spiked, and I grabbed handfuls of my dress, my eyes closing involuntarily.

I could almost feel the heat and moistness of his lips on mine when the sound of a ringing phone pierced the still silence, breaking the allure that hug had built between us.

Sin stopped, then opened his eyes, meeting my now-opened ones. Something passed between his eyes, and he simply backed away, then turned towards the bedside drawer where his phone was.

I watched as he answered the call, one hand resting in his pocket, his eyes thin as he listened to the other person.

"I will be down in a minute," he said, then kept the phone again.

He turned to me, his lips slightly pursed. "I will be downstairs with Alejandro and his boss. Do not be afraid to come where I am."

I nodded, and he slowly, almost reluctantly turned away.

"Sin?" I called just as he reached the door.

He stopped, his fingers resting on the doorknob as he turned to me. I let my eyes get used to his features, the perfection, the aesthetics of the perfect reaper.

"Thank you," I said, a single tear rolling off my right cheek. "For everything."

"If you do want me to go down and attend to my business, do me a favor and get rid of those tears."

I broke into a smile, then immediately wiped the tears away, my heart fluttering with the way his gaze lingered on my lips, like it was an unfinished quest.

"Thank you," he said after a while. "For letting me go."

Before I could reply, he opened the door and walked out, his scent lingering in the air, but his words, his eyes, his touch taking precedence in my head space. Not even the blinding fear I felt for Enrique could diminish these feelings.

My heart rested on my chest, and I closed my eyes, my body experiencing a new sense of calmness. I loved how it felt. From his eyes on me to the kiss we still haven't shared. From the aggressive way he made me take my stand, to the soft way he protected me.

I smiled to myself, my hand gently massaging right above my chest. My eyes landed on a small card in Sin's drawer, and I walked up to it. It looked like a birthday card and a very childish writing inside.

Definitely from Angel. In front of the card, however, was the simple quote.

All for love.

I smiled, the flashbacks filling my mind, sending warmth through my veins. All for love.

I turned to the bed, right where we had both been, right where Sin had almost kissed me. I don't think I would be able to stand straight now had he done it.

I smiled again, sighing, my fingers gently caressing the card. All for love. I didn't know how that felt. The closest I could relate it to was how much I still missed my father.

But this aching need. This deepening desire. This sizzling attraction. All the things I felt for Sin that I had never felt for another man... was it love?

I blinked, my lips parting as I dared to ask myself the question I had been skirting around all through.

Was I falling in love with Sin?
