Chapter 25: Angel's father

"Sin," said a male voice, and I moved to get a better view.

Callum was standing by the door, his eyes a little wide, his lips parted.

"What do you want?"

"Are you happy?"

"I am. Why do you ask?"

Callum raked his hand through his hair, then turned away, his hands coming to his waist. He turned to Sin again, his eyes darting across both of Sin's.

"You know Larissa is going to go bankrupt, right? Did you ask that woman to do this?"

I started to move forward, but Sin gave a small chuckle. "Face me, Callum. I am the one you know. As for Larissa's bankruptcy, let's just say I am taking all of the money she took from me in order to put her father's business on top."

Callum let out an exasperated breath. "She was once all you could talk about, Sin."

"Once."

"You loved her with everything!"

"Loved."

"Sin!"

"Don't fucking yell at me, Callum. Times changed. I loved her. I fathered a child with her. It could have been two. But that's all gone now. She deceived me, and she is paying for it."

Callum sighed, then took a step back. "You snatched her from all of us, just so you could treat her this way?"

"No," Sin said, his voice low, controlled anger lowering it even more. "She chose me out of all of you because I had more money. She left me once she got what she wanted and killed my child."

"Why do you think she did that? Why do you think a mother ingested so many pills that even though she carried the pregnancy to term, the child was damaged beyond repair? Why do you think she chose to torture herself like that?"

Sin didn't reply, and Callum shook his head slowly.

"Because she didn't trust you to be a father anymore. Because she knew this was the kind of monster you are!"

For a second, Sin didn't say anything to him, and silence fell between them. Callum was seething now, his eyes wide, and he looked ready to say more. Sin was as calm as always, and he slowly straightened, his jaws clenching.

"Give me my gun, Annalise."

My eyes widened. "Wh... what?"

"My gun!" Sin yelled, and I flinched, my heart thumping hard in my chest. Callum didn't move even as I reached for the dresser and grabbed the gun.

It was cold, and Sin collected it, then turned to Callum.

"I have said nothing to you, Callum, despite everything you have done. You were my friend, closer to me than anything else, and I favored you. No matter what. I know what happened between you and Larissa the night before our wedding, Callum. You were my best man, but you fucked my bride a night before and still wished us the next day like a fucking hypocrite and I kept that secret with me. I am willing to let you off for more, but I swear, one more word about my child, and I will not hesitate to end you."

Callum swallowed, his jaws clenching hard. "You didn't say anything because you knew you didn't have the right to. And... if you know that, then you probably know who Chloe's real father is. You probably know why Larissa wanted to name her Chloe after my beloved grandmother. What would you do if I decided to take her from you? What if I file for custody and..."

Callum didn't get to finish before Sin hit his head with the butt of the gun, causing him to swerve violently to the right and fall on the floor.

I gasped, my hand coming to my lips, but Sin wasn't done yet. He followed Callum to the floor, expertly turning the gun to the butt again as he hit Callum with it once more.

Callum let out a groan of pain, his lips parting as he coughed up blood.

"What the fuck did you say? You are going to take Angel from me? I will ruin you, Callum. I will step all over you and ensure you never, ever stand up. I swear it."

Callum gave a small laugh, then turned to Sin. "You only call her Angel because you are in denial. Larissa would never trust you to be a father. Not back then, not ever!"

Sin raised the gun again, this time, ready to shoot, when a shrill yell pierced through, stopping him.

Larissa ran the remaining stairs and immediately pushed Sin off Callum, her hand wrapping around him.

"What is wrong with you?!"

Sin was left alone, looking like the monster between them. From everything I had heard, if I was given that gun, I doubt I would be any different.

I slowly covered the distance to Sin, then leaned to the height he was at. I wasn't sure what he would accept, but I wrapped my hand around him, bringing his head to rest on my shoulder.

"Callum, are you okay? Sin, why would you do this? He was your friend! If you have a problem with me, take it out on me! Why do you have to go after everyone and everything I have ever loved? Why do you keep haunting me like this?"

Safe to say, Larissa was the most twisted woman I had ever seen, my mother included. Ever since I came here, she had been the one running after Sin, obviously jealous of the fact that he had seemed to move on.

Now... she had a different father for Angel and then aborted the child she had with Sin? Then, left him after taking enough money to marry some pushover? Why didn't she marry Callum? It was a surprise Sin hadn't killed her yet because the Lord knows I would have.

Sin slowly moved away from me, then grabbed his gun.

"Get lost," he said, his eyes colder than ever. His hand tightened around me as he pulled me to the room and closed the door, a small breath leaving his lips.

I watched him, the grip of his hand around mine tight, his eyes closed. Slowly, he let me go, then sighed and walked away to the bathroom, his steps stiff.
