Chapter 20: Is it too early?
"Sir? I... I truly apologize for this. I will prepare a seat for her at the back and..."
"Are you fucking stupid?" Sin suddenly asked, turning to the man for the first time since we got here. "You want to send my wife to the back? Have you lost respect?"
"Sir. I... I apologize, I was... Madam Larissa..."
Sin slowly moved, then gently took the name tag on the man's suit. He let his fingers caress the tag before he pulled it off, letting it fall to the floor.
The man gasped, his head lowered, his fingers clasped respectfully in front of her.
"I would like to see you get employed again."
My eyes widened, and the man slowly leaned, his lips parting.
"Sir, please. I..."
"Let's go, Annalise."
I swallowed. He would really leave the auction he had been looking forward to so much simply because they did not provide a seat for me? I knew Sin was a ticking time bomb, but if he was like this with Larissa, why in the world would she ever want to leave him? Why would any sane woman ever want to leave him?
"Sin!"
I turned, and the crew were all on their feet now. Callum ran over to Sin, who looked unfazed by the fact that he was already single-handedly ruining the auction just by attempting to leave.
"Sin," Callum said as he got to Sin. "Where are you going?"
"Where there is a seat for my wife," Sin said, his brows raising.
"But..."
"Yes? Are you going to tell me that you did not know that she was coming with me?"
Callum swallowed, and his eyes darted to Sin's side as Larissa walked up to us.
"I did not reserve a chair for her because the lower class people are on the bronze seats. There is a seat for her on the bronze line," she said, her eyes holding mine throughout.
My lips parted as I thought of something to say, but I had a better idea.
"Sin?" He turned to me, his eyes dark.
"We should go sit."
"What?"
"Please," I said, a small smile on my lips.
"I am not going to let you sit on a stupid bronze seat."
"I am not going to sit on one. I am going to sit with you."
His brows furrowed as he turned to the arrangement of the seats, probably just to make sure I hadn't gone completely crazy.
I held his arm, completely ignoring Larissa and Aldo.
"Let's go," I said to him, my eyes holding his steely gaze.
He nodded, then let his arm cup my waist.
"Sin, you are here. It is a ple..." Larissa started to say before Sin walked right past her, without acknowledging neither her greetings or her presence.
We got to the still empty seat, and the rest slowly returned to their seats. I could feel their eyes on me as Sin slowly took the last empty seat on the diamond row, leaving me standing.
He looked up to me, his brows furrowed. I gave him a small smile, then moved my hair to slowly fall on my shoulder, so my back and the long string of body chain were now out in the open.
Sin let out a small breath, and I turned to back him. Slowly, I lowered myself right onto his lap, my hand gently resting on his thigh for comfort. It was the most scandalous thing I have done all my life, and I heard a few surprised gasps all over. Sin was quiet, however, and I slowly turned to him.
He looked like he had been expecting me to because he immediately met my eyes, his eyes thin with a mischief that matched mine. Something about Sin, he somehow did get me. Or was I the one who got him? I wasn't so sure.
Slowly, his fingers moved around the curve of my waist to the very base of my stomach, his fingers intertwining with each other.
Gently, he pulled me back to him till I could feel his lips on my back, till I could feel every breath on my skin. I sucked in a deep breath as he adjusted his legs, fitting me right in him. His hands stayed wrapped around me, so I knew my back would be safe, but hell, his face.
I turned to Larissa, who was watching us with eyes that threatened to pop out of their sockets, her chest heaving hard with the rage she was trying her very best to contain. I gave her the same sickly sweet smile that she had given me earlier.
"Oh, Larissa. I didn't quite see you there."
She turned away from me. "Sin, you know this is not allowed. You know these are premium seats, and they are only booked for..."
"Name your price."
I swallowed, turning slightly to Sin. He wasn't looking at her, and he moved his right hand to my back, his thumb slowly pressing down on my skin and doing nothing more.
"Sin," Larissa said, ready to start a scene when Aldo held her hand, keeping her in place.
"We are glad you didn't leave, Sin. It was an oversight to not provide a diamond seat for your wife."
Sin didn't reply to him, and I turned away as the lights came on the stage. Honestly, maybe Sin was a better person that I ever would be. If one of my men stole my wife, he would never be able to sit next to me. Or at my table.
I pushed my fingers through my hair, letting them fall over my shoulder. Sin was surprisingly comfortable, especially when he pulled me closer to his body, his face coming to my waist, his eyes the same expressionless slits.
It was hard for me to concentrate even as the lights came on stage, however, with Sin right behind me, his hands firm around me, his breaths warm against my skin.
I slowly turned to meet his eyes and got a few seconds to feast on his profile. The straight perfect nose, the slightly tanned complexion.
Slowly, he looked up at me, his eyes slowly blinking as he held me in a chokehold. It was easy for him to hold me or any woman in a chokehold.
Is it too early? Is it too early to say that this man knew how to make my stomach churn? Is it too crazy to want him to look at me that way more often?
