Chapter 16: That woman
I slowly turned to Sin, my lips parting as a single tear rolled down my left eye, my fingers tightening around the robe I was wearing.
"S... Sin... I... I am not sure what's happening, I just..."
"I am not a wild animal, Sin. I am not to be tamed."
Sin slowly moved, his hand moving slowly till the gun leveled right between Larissa's eyes.
"I have tried my very best to avoid any sort of confrontation with you, Larissa."
"Why does it seem like you have been trying to..."
"Shut the fuck up. I am not here to banter or exchange words. How the fuck dare you go to harass my wife?"
Her eyes were wide, and I swallowed, blinking rapidly. Never in my life had anyone treated me like this. Like my humiliation did matter to them.
"I said fucking answer me, Larissa!"
"Sin, please," Aldo said, jumping in. "I beg of you, please, just... please don't do this. Have you forgotten? You never hurt women. No matter what. Please take it out on me..."
"Are you going to answer me, or should I force it out?"
"Sin," Larissa said, moving forward. "I... I can't believe you drew a gun on the woman you once married and the man who had been with you for a bitch who..."
It was so fast I almost didn't see it, but Sin let my hand go, and switched the hand he was holding his gun in, then swiftly grabbed Larissa's neck, bringing her to him like it was nothing.
I gasped, my eyes wide. I didn't think he would actually go through with it, but in his eyes and his actions, I could already see the hatred he harbored for her. If he truly never hurt women, Larissa must have crossed all boundaries.
"What the fuck did you call her?" His voice was low, threatening. The sort I didn't wish for in my worst nightmares.
"Let me go, Sin."
He pulled her closer, his eyes darting across both of his. "You... when you left me, I vowed never to come close or lay a hand on you. With what you are doing right now, the next time you dare to disrespect my person, I will fucking kill you. I will kill you the same way I kill men, Larissa. I swear it."
She slowly brought her hand to his hand. "Kill me. Kill the only woman you have ever loved. The only woman you could ever take to bed. The only woman who made you feel like a man. Take my life the way you used to take my breath on those wild nights. You are this angry because you lost. You will never be able to replace me. You want me back so badly...-"
"The only place I want you is six feet under. Next to my child that you killed."
She chuckled. "You think she will give you one to replace it?"
Sin's forehead bulged with green veins, and he pushed her roughly away, his chest heaving. Aldo caught her before she hit the floor, and Sin took my hand again. He was warm from the anger, and my eyes took in his profile.
Larissa killed his child? Was that what he meant when he said he had lost a child? How could she have...
"One more. Cross my boundaries once more. I will smear this hotel with blood."
Larissa was now on the floor, her eyes red and glistening with tears, her hand covering her neck. Aldo was alternating between begging for pardon and trying to pacify her.
She moved, her eyes meeting mine, her chest heaving. I could see where her hatred for me stemmed from. She probably had the conviction that Sin would never be able to move on. That he would forever be hung up on her.
Maybe she was right. But now...
A small smile lit up my lips as I watched her, then held on to Sin's hand even tighter. Slowly, I moved, my hand wrapping around Sin's back, my head resting on his shoulder, my eyes still fixed on her.
My smile stayed on my lips as she seethed even more, but there wasn't much she could do with Sin standing right there.
Sin said nothing and pulled me away, his steps brisk, his hand wrapped protectively around me. I followed obediently, turning only once as we reached the door.
Aldo had brought water, but she was watching me still, her lips set in a defiant straight line. I turned away as we walked out and back towards the suite.
Sin let go of my hand, then closed his eyes, his chest heaving.
"I am sorry," I said, my voice a mere whisper.
"For what?" He asked, his voice low.
I swallowed. "Your child. I am not sure what happened, but..."
"Exactly why you need to do what I tell you. If you are sorry, show it tonight. I am getting too damn tired of having that revenge etched at the back of my mind."
I nodded. Sin would be using me for his revenge. I was like those pawns that turned out really well played. Each fragment of my destiny showed how I was meant to be here. How I was cut out for this.
He pulled this shirt off, then let it go on the floor with a soft, wet thud.
"Should I get you a towel?"
He turned to me. "Take a nap. You look like a mess right now."
I nodded slowly as he started to walk past me. Suddenly, I heard the door start to open. I turned to it just as Larissa popped up behind it, her eyes thin as she watched me.
Maybe she had come to talk to Sin, but she was too late. I held his hand before he walked past me, then pulled him to me. My hand wrapped around his naked top, my nails digging into his flesh.
I closed my eyes as his scent crashed over me, his skin soft in my hands.
"What are you doing?"
I smiled at Larissa, my eyes thinning as I let my fingers slowly trace down his body. "Marking a territory."
He did not reply as I let my nails glide over his skin. Sin might be using me, but from now on, I would be using him, too.
I would be using him to show Larissa that he can indeed... forget all about her in the shadow of another woman.
And I was determined to be that woman.
