Chapter 12: Coming back Home with daddy

I listened to the sound of the shower till the growl in my stomach became progressively louder. Shit. I had been right in front of that massive spread, and yet... yet I ended up eating nothing.

I sat on the edge of the bed, feeling a little suffocated by the dress I was wearing. I leaned forward, then removed the shoes and set them aside. I took a second to admire them. I couldn't believe I had just worn them. Just hours ago, they were such a distant dream. Such an inconceivable wish.

I sighed, then started to reach for the buttons behind me. I could only reach for the bottom ones, and I stretched a little harder, a groan escaping my lips.

Suddenly, I felt a cold, damp hand lightly graze my back. I stopped, turning slowly. Sin was leaning to my back, his hair all over his face in wet, thin strands, his eyes dark.

I swallowed, then turned away as he gently removed the buttons, his fingers pushing my hair away so it fell on my shoulders. Once it was all opened, he slowly let his thumb graze my spine down to my lower back.

I swallowed, feeling electricity course through me. I wasn't quite sure what he was doing, but he did it a couple of times more, his thumb just running along my spine, causing me to arch a little inwards.

Slowly, he moved away, his eyes lifting to me.

"Don't wear that again," he said simply.

I sucked in my bottom lip, then turned behind me, trying to see why he would not want me to wear the dress again. It was really beautiful, and in my opinion, it did fit me really well.

"Why?" I asked, my eyes meeting his. He was now lighting up a cigar, but he suddenly dropped it, like he had lost interest.

"Because I said so."

I nodded. "What am I going to wear to the auction, then?"

His head slowly tilted to the right, his lips parting. I am not sure how any of the women around him had been coping with this view. He looked like both danger and beauty. Like the allure of a poisonous snake.

"A dress," he said simply, just as a knock came on the door. I turned to it, then slowly stood up, my hand going to my back to put the lace together.

Sin slowly grabbed a robe, then stretched his hand to me, his eyes watching me almost curiously. I watched his hand for a while, and my eyes slowly lifted to him, my lips parting lightly.

I collected it, then walked past him towards the closet. I turned to make sure he wasn't anywhere close, then slipped out of the dress.

I turned around, putting my hair up so I could see my back better. To my surprise, where the buttons had been on my back were dark red spots, probably from them pressing on my skin due to just how tight it had been. I had simply thought the tingling was a result of the net and ignored it.

I swallowed, my hand leaving my hair so it tumbled down my back again, my eyes thinning. Maybe Sin wasn't as bad as I thought he was?

I mean, he didn't seem very devilish. Yeah, he was unforgiving, but he seemed to have a reason. Larissa left him for another man. I wasn't sure what the other man did, but... I didn't want to be either of them. He had seemed impressed with me earlier, so I would just keep that up.

Five months of being married to a wealthy man didn't seem that bad, did it? Might be hard going back to being dirt poor, but...

Wait.

My brows furrowed. Did he really mean it when he said he would give me a million dollars? A million dollars?

I immediately wrapped the robe around me and scurried out in time to hear Sin's phone start to ring. It had this ominous vibration I had started to grow a little familiar with.

His eyes lifted from the cup of wine he had been drinking, and he moved it to take the phone. I did see the large spread of food on the bed now, but I was less hungry with the prospect of a million dollars in my mind now.

"My Angel," Sin said into the phone, and my ears immediately perked up.

I could slightly hear the person on the other line, and I heard a small squeal that sounded a lot like Daddy.

Sin gave a small smile. "I will be back in a week, sweetheart. Do you want anything?"

Sin's smile faltered a little before he shook his head. "I promise you, I will bring something even better, okay?"

He gave a small pause. "Angel? We promised to behave. Didn't we? I will bring someone. Okay?"

I bit down on my lips, then slowly walked towards him. I stretched my hand towards him, my eyes holding his.

He looked up to me, his brows furrowing. "What?"

"Let me talk to her." His eyes squinted before he slowly gave the phone to me, then turned back to his glass of wine.

"Hello?" I said, my voice immediately dropping. I wasn't sure what to do with a child, but I could perhaps talk to her the same way I had yearned to be talked to all my life.

"Who are you? Why are you with my dad?"

I looked at Sin, then slowly sat beside him. "Well. Guess."

"Guess?" She asked, her voice dipping. "Are you my mum now?"

I gave a laugh. "Do you want me to be?"

"Where is my real mum?"

Sin was looking at me now, his eyes squinted.

"She... well, let me tell you a short story. Your mum has some commitments. She is trying very hard and she asked me to come take care of you."

"She did?"

"Yes. The catch is... she will take some time to observe you. She will come back sooner the better you behave."

She gave a small pause, then sighed. "When are you coming? Are you coming with Daddy?"

"Definitely," I said, smiling. "I will come back with Daddy."

Sin's brows shot up at the last word, and his eyes met mine. Maybe I hadn't meant much with that last word, but... hell.

"Give Daddy the phone!" She yelled, causing me to immediately move and give the phone back to Sin.

He slowly accepted it, his eyes fixed on mine all through, the wine glass still hovering right above his lips.
