Chapter 68
She then signed the papers while Lev's remorseful eyes glazed at her wound, which had crashed her fair and glowing skin viciously. Furthermore, he noticed her hands shivering while signing the papers.
Leonid was searching for Elvira all around the city, unaware of the dark forest where a little house was built.
The gloomy sun disappeared, bringing the darkest sky.
A black car came at high speed and skidded in front of Leonid's office. A woman was being pushed out of the car. It was Elvira.
That car emptied the place as soon as the guards and staff ran outside rushingly.
Elvira was unable to move. She could breathe only, and that also carried some heavy and miserable feelings as her weary, reddish eyes yearned for help.
"It's chairwoman!" One of the male staff shouted, informing everyone. Thereafter, guards helped her and brought her in.
The receptionist dialled Leonid's fast and informed him about Elvira.
Within ten minutes, he arrived there.
He panted and stopped running to her as soon as he glanced at her refusing to get treated. His run became slow steps once he gazed at her tiresome body, which barely gathered the energy to push the doctor away.
The staff and others emptied the place. The doctor and Leonid were the only ones standing in front of her.
"What happened?" His voice dripped with concern. Clenched his fist, spotting her cheek wound. "Who did this?" His voice was dreadful.
Elvira straightened up her face from weighing the floor with her tears and contemplated his, declaring, "I told you they won't leave us peacefully."
"I will take care of it. First, let him dress your wound." He requested her.
Giving a judging glance, she showed her palm. "Then promise me you will destroy all of them!". Her voice was heavy with the thought of avenge.
He perched his palm over hers. Furnishing with a promising eye, he concurred, "I will."
She then allowed the doctor to treat her wound. However, she tightened her grip, feeling insecure as Lev's deadliest glare kept flickering in front of her eyes.
After finishing treating her wound, the doctor escorted Leonid a little far from Elvira and informed him with a lower voice, "It seems someone injected her slow poison through her blood vessels."
Leonid heart skipped the beats. His spooked eyes interrogated him instantly. "What are you saying?"
The doctor came to his side, hiding Leonid's flutter from Elvira's sight.
"Act normally; she is watching us." The doctor reminded him.
He barely managed to digest the truth.
"That's why she feels tired. I need to examine her blood for confirmation. Will you..." The doctor laid back in hesitancy.
"Do it!" Leonid permitted right away. He put a mask on his fluster and flashed caring towards her.
The doctor took an empty injection and took a sample of her blood.
"Why is he taking my blood?" Elvira questioned Leonid.
"For the test," Leonid said without second thoughts, earning confusion and shock from the doctor.
"You are tired. Aren't you?" He stammered, trying to make up his misspoken words.
She nodded.
"He needs to check your haemoglobin level. Only then could he offer us a suitable medicine."
Her understandable nod confirmed that she believed it.
An hour later, Leonid put Elvira to sleep in bed tenderly as she acted so clingy to him by hugging him all this time.
"Sleep with me," she declared with pleasing eyes.
"Okay," he nodded and lay next to her.
She hugged him tightly, embedding her face over his chest until it made her comfortable.
He offered her a head pat along with a gentle kiss on her head.
She fell asleep as soon as she earned warmth in his arms.
A drop of tears shed through his eyes as he remembered the doctor's dictation, "Someone injected her with poison."
He. At some point, that concerned-looking face turned into a vengeful.
The next day was born.
Elvira didn't seem to be cured. She was still hearing for his proximity. She kept following him wherever he roamed inside the house. She didn't even miss his brief steps.
"Sit already. You must be tired." Leonid pulled her and made her sit on the sofa.
She gripped his wrist and stopped him. Flashing weary-looking eyes and an innocent drooling face, she informed him, "Why do I feel like I can't see you anymore?"
Leonid, lost without words, failed to comfort her insecure thoughts.
"I'm feeling like I can't see you anymore." Elvira groused.
Sighing in desperation, he masked his tears and spilt a comfort-giving speech: "Don't overthink, Elvira. I will always be by your side. How about I'm taking leave for you? We can stay together today."
However, that didn't appear to cool down her longing heart. "What about other days?" She questioned and enunciated that she wasn't satisfied with his words.
"I will! You are my charm, Elvira." He teasingly pocked her cheek and sowed a smile on her.
She wrapped her hand around his neck and hugged him tightly. "Then I won't leave you even an inch."
Leonid eye squinted with a tinge of scepticism, "She is acting so weird. Is it because of the poison? Did it already damage her brain?"
At the right time, his phone rang in the doctor's name.
Elvira handed him with expected eyes.
Leonid's finger hesitated to attend the call when he noticed her curious eyes.
She pressed the green floating button.
"Hello?" Leonid attended it and got himself distance from Elvira, which ached her heart a little.
"Leonid!" Her voice was overwhelmed with a yearning that she couldn't control.
He held her hand and quickly elaborated on his proximity.
She smiled and dropped her forehead over his with the cutely pouting face.
Leonid eyes switched to concern real quick hearing the doctor saying, "It is confirmed. Is she acting weird?"
"Hmm," Leonid murmured, barely reaching Elvira but being audible to the doctor.
"It is because of the poison. And sadly... we can't save her." The doctor revealed after much nervousness and hesitancy.
Leonid jaw clenched in outrage while his eyes swelled up with tears looking at Elvira falling asleep on his lap.
