Chapter 6 she still refused
Anaya’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“I am telling you the truth, Anaya. I think Alfred has lost his mind completely.” Jacob spoke again, his brows knitting tightly, a scowl dancing on his face.
“He did some bad investments in the past 10 months, losing everything. He sought help from the council, and the council put a strange request in front of him.” He paused and looked at me with a complicated gaze as if he were contemplating whether to tell me or not.
“What happened then?” I asked him sternly, digging my nails deeper in my palms in the process.
A dread crept in my heart, and I really hated this feeling.
“They proposed a marriage alliance between our pack and the Night Howl Pack, Alpha Lucifer Hawthorne to be precise.” My heart sank as soon as I heard the name.
The name alone was enough to make me feel a chill running down through my spine.
That man was called the death devil in the disguise of a human face.
His pack was the strongest, stronger than the royal pack, and the king also fears him.
“Alfred provided your hand in marriage, giving your details, but hid that you have no wolf.”
“What the fk? How could he do this? I am no longer part of that pack.” I yelled in shock and anger, cutting him mid-sentence.
“He did, Anaya. He did exactly what I told you.” Jacob yelled back, punching the air in the process.
He was angry and helpless, and despair was evident in his voice, but I gave a fk to his situation because my brain short-circuited by what he told me.
“Then Riley exposed everything in front of the two council members when they came to the pack to discuss the arrangement. She wanted to be the bride of Lucifer Hawthorne, and blinded by her own greediness and ambition, she messed up everything. Whe… when Winnie tried to calm Alfred down, he …. He beat her.”
I stopped breathing.
I just stared at him without blinking.
He looked at me helplessly, but I caught the severity of the situation.
Riley was my stepsister. If I remember correctly, she turned 18 last year. She must be 19 by now.
And yes, she was a btch ever since she started speaking.
“Somehow, Lucifer got the whiff of Alfred’s lies, and now Lucifer is demanding your presence there, or else he will destroy the whole pack.” Jacob finished the whole situation in the same stiff tone, but I felt suffocated.
I rubbed my chest, trying to wrap everything around my head, but it was too much.
“So….yo… you mean to say th… that Alfred used me as a bait?” I asked breathlessly.
Jacob sighed, giving no reaction, but a complexed gaze.
But it was enough for me to understand that I am right.
“So….. now h… he wants me to face Lucifer Hawthorne’s wrath, putting Winnie’s life as a bait for me, right?” I asked in a shaky voice, glaring at Jacob in the process.
I was still shocked.
I was also confused.
Winnie was my father’s fated mate. My father was in love with my mother, and that’s why he married her, making her his chosen mate.
He met Winnie after ten years of their marriage. I was 7 at that time.
My father wasn’t the abusive type, but after my mother’s death, he changed.
“Come with me for Winnie, Anaya. Riley is now a greedy btch. She only thinks about herself. She was there when Alfred was beating Winnie, but she didn’t stop him.” Jacob pleaded again, adding what Riley did to her mother.
“My groom died a few days ago, Jacob. I am supposed to marry him in three days. The only person who loved me an... and cared for me is dead. I am still grieving, and I have no strength left in me to face this mess. Please. Don’t force me. I beg you. Go back… do whatever you want to do…. In whatever ways you want to clear this farce, but spare me, please.” I shook my head furiously, pleading not to bother me.
“Above all, Alfred disowned me years ago. I no longer have ties with both that family and the pack. I will find a way to take Winnie away with me later, but for now.” I paused and inhaled sharply before speaking again.
“Anaya.”
“Go back, Jacob. Leave me alone.” I commanded sternly, my voice cracked a bit, but I moved on my heel to go back to my room. I had listened to him enough, and now I had no desire or strength to listen about the pack and my family anymore.
I felt tired and wanted to lie down now.
“Anaya, please. Don’t do this," Jacob pleaded behind me.
“I said go away.” I yelled while moving back, anger evident in my voice.
The next second, I was struck on my neck. My body swayed immediately.
He wrapped his hand around my waist.
My eyes widened in disbelief, and I tasted betrayal on my tongue, but I blacked out immediately. Bastrd took me off guard.
Jacob’s P.O.V.
“I am sorry, Anaya, but you left me with no choice but to do this. This is for the existence of our home.... our home... yours and mine.” I apologized to the woman in my embrace, who was now unconscious.
She was stronger than I had anticipated, but she was the only hope of our pack.
I scooped her up and mind-linked Fred, one of the warriors who came with me.
“Fred, come inside and have a dose of wolfsbane.”
“What have you done to her? Where are you taking her?” I looked at two women, her friends, running towards us while yelling aloud in panic and anger.
“I am sorry, ladies, but Anaya needs to go back home.” I replied to them coolly, holding Anaya tightly and securely in my embrace.
She is still as light as she used to be in the past.
“How dare you strike her? Put her down and leave now.” The redhead pointed a gun at my face; her face became red because of the fury, but her hands didn’t shake.
They knew what we were, and I was still amazed at how fiercely she was standing in front of me to protect Anaya.
“I mean no harm to her, Rose. I assure you that she will be back in a few days in the same state as I am taking her back.
Fred came inside and looked at me at the same time.
I signaled him through a jerk of my head to inject Anaya with wolfsbane.
“Trust me, with the mess her father has made back home, Anaya is the only one who can save us.” I tried to convince her that I am no threat to Anaya, but their distrust was still evident in their gazes.
"What are you injecting her with? Stay back, or I swear that I will shoot you. It... it's not a normal bullet." Rose threatened us while yelling, but I narrowed my eyes.
"You are not the first wolf whom I am going to shoot, Jacob."
