Chapter 18 getting no good vibe
Lucifer’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“I thought that you were just a simple woman with a miserable past, Anaya. But you proved me wrong every time I thought that I knew you enough.” I mumbled to her, still stroking her face, ignoring Beast's jealousy.
To be honest, I was also jealous, but it also gave me hope that I would be able to mind-link her too.
If she can do it with one person, then I can be the next.
I guess I needed to talk to Jacob. According to the information that Theo got on Anaya, Jacob was closest to her back then.
Forcing her to accept me as her mate was a decision taken on a whim driven by jealousy and possessiveness.
But now we are mates, and I am now really intrigued by what more I don’t know about her.
She was like a Pandora's box.
The more you open the layers, the more layers you will find hidden inside.
Theo entered the room again.
“Why did you do that, Lucifer?” He asked me in a low and grim voice after closing the door.
I didn’t reply to him because I also didn’t know why I accepted her as my mate.
Why did I want her to accept me as her mate?
“You know very well that your bloodline is cursed. You can’t have a mate. You can have bed partners or a wife, but not a mate. Yet, you forced her to accept you as her mate, and you …. You were the one who accepted her as your mate first. Why did you do that, Lucifer?” He questioned me angrily.
“I don’t know.” I mumbled, holding her hand tightly.
I felt at peace and calm whenever I held her hand or held her in my embrace.
“Did you forget that you have someone back home who has been eyeing the Luna position for a long time? What do you think she will do if you take Anaya back with you?” he questioned me angrily again when I didn’t give a satisfactory answer to him.
I stiffened when I remembered about the she-wolf who had been my bed partner for a long time. I never promised her anything in return other than satisfaction in bed, but she dreamed about being my Luna.
It’s just that I was too lazy to correct her, but I never let her act like an active Luna.
After my mother’s death seven years ago, it was Theo’s mother who worked as the active Luna until Theo found his mate three years ago.
“People can dream whatever they want, Theo. You can’t stop them from dreaming. The fact is that I never promised anything to her in return except money and satisfaction in bed. I am a man of my word. If I said that I will not have any other woman in my bed except Anaya, I mean it.” I replied to him firmly this time.
“But you forgot that your face is identical to her first love.” He argued, but I growled slowly, making him stop.
“We aren’t identical. I have this unique scar on my face, Theo. I am different from him, and I will always be. She called me by his name once, but after that, I never saw her trying to find him in me.”
My argument was logical, but I still felt jealous that she had someone else in his life as his first love.
They were together for more than two years. Of course, they would have done everything two people in love do, and I shouldn’t be jealous because I am not a saint either.
Yet I felt jealous.
Theo growled angrily, but there was nothing that we could do to reverse it.
“What now? Are you going to take her to the pack?” he asked me, exasperated by everything that happened.
“And what about our money? Alfred and his mate had not a single penny left in their accounts.” I craned my neck in his direction and glared hard at him.
“Can’t you be happy for me?” I asked him grumpily, and he widened his eyes in shock.
“How could I be happy, Lucifer? You put an innocent girl’s life in danger for…. For goddess knows … for what reason, and I don’t know how this is going to affect you? How can I be happy when your life is in danger?” he continued yelling at me.
“Shut it, Theo. I am not going to die young.” I grumbled and looked back at Anaya.
“The scar on our face. She went through so much that she didn’t get time to process that we are the ugliest among all the men around her. Will she be disgusted by us when she calms down?” Beast asked me anxiously.
She stirred a little and whimpered in pain.
I immediately took her hand between my palms, looking at her worriedly.
“I am going to ask the kitchen to prepare something for her.” Theo grumbled, but I stopped him from speaking further.
“Don’t trust anyone here, Theo. Ask two of our warriors to prepare a meal for us. I don’t know why, but I always got a weird vibe here. It seems that someone is using dark witchcraft here.”
The silence in the room was suffocating, but Theo sighed in the end.
“I thought that I was being paranoid. I also felt the same, especially whenever Alfred is near us. He seems possessed or under a dark spell.” Theo mumbled, and I hummed in response.
“She is our Luna now. I suggest you take her to the pack. She can come back at any time after she wakes up and gets her strength back.” Theo suggested the next, and I narrowed my eyes, thinking about his suggestion.
"He is right, Lucifer. Alfred wants our mate dead, and that girl, her stepsister, Riley. She is still missing. We can't trust a single person here, not even Jacob. I don't get a good vibe from him either." Beast commented grumpily, but his worry for Anaya was evident in his voice.
I took a deep breath and looked at Theo once again.
"Get ready to leave right after this bottle is finished, Theo. Also, connect their security system with us, and leave fifty warriors under Hank's command. He will report to us every two hours and find Riley. That girl is still a grave danger for Anaya." I instructed him firmly, moving my face back in Anaya's direction.
"What about Luna Winnie?" He asked me in a serious tone.
"That woman is spineless, not fit to take care of this pack. Keep her under strict surveillance in their villa. Tell our warriors to take over the pack house, but they will not disturb a thing here until Anaya comes back and decides what to do next." I replied to him firmly and smiled while looking at her face.
