Chapter 15 his ridiculous demand
Anaya felt as if the sky just crashed on her the second words left Lucifer’s mouth.
Her breathing was ragged, and she looked at Lucifer with wide eyes, still processing what she just heard.
Both Lucifer and Beast were startled too. They proposed a marriage between him and Anaya on a whim yesterday before going back, but this was a ridiculous demand given the fact that they can't have a mate because of a curse on their family, and they never intended to take a chosen mate.
Beast didn’t know why Lucifer spoke that. It only felt as if they were possessed, and Anaya was their only salvation.
Lucifer’s grip on Winnie tightened at the same time.
Theo, Winnie, Alfred, and all the other people present there were also startled by Lucifer’s demand.
“Accept me as your mate and as your alpha, Anaya, and I will let everyone go.” Lucifer demanded angrily once again when he saw Anaya freeze at her place, but the placement of her hands didn’t falter even for a second.
“What’s going on, Lucifer? How can you ask her to accept you as her mate? Are you insane? She is a human.” Theo yelled at Lucifer through the mind-link.
Beast growled at Theo through the mind-link, making Theo suck in breath and show his neck in submission in front of Beast.
His mind was completely fried by now.
Ever since Lucifer met Anaya yesterday, he also noticed that both Lucifer and Beast were acting weirdly.
Their sudden possessiveness towards Anaya when Theo told them about Vincent and their resemblance to that dead man, their anger when Theo told Lucifer what Anaya suffered after her mother’s death, and how difficult it was for her to create a life in the human world.
Anaya almost pulled the trigger in a fit of rage.
Winnie was now standing in front of Lucifer, but her small physique was like a small bundle in front of a mountain.
Anaya could kill him at any time in one shot, but all the people lying on the ground or subdued by Lucifer’s warriors were already in danger.
One bullet leaving her gun will kill them all.
Lucifer growled angrily, and all the warriors immediately forced on everyone, making a few critically injured warriors scream in pain.
Anaya’s jaw tightened, and she shot daggers at Lucifer through her eyes.
It was her mate.
She was still confused because if she, a human, recognized him as her mate, why didn't Lucifer, an alpha, recognize her?
His demand sounded ridiculous to her ears.
“You mean that you want me to accept you as my chosen mate?” She asked him coldly, and he laughed.
Lucifer didn’t know why he was laughing, but the word "chosen mate" irked him.
“No, I want you to accept me as your mate and as your alpha.” He clarified in a dangerous tone.
Theo was exasperated by Lucifer’s ridiculous demand.
For a second, he thought about knocking Lucifer out and taking him back to their pack.
Anaya laughed coldly and slowly lowered her guns.
Her laughter irked Lucifer more. He was now breathing heavily. That sarcastic laughter was like both daggers and temple bells to his ears.
He wanted Anaya to accept him as mate, but the chosen word pissed him off.
“I am an alpha, Lucifer. If you want me to accept you are my alpha, fight with me, kill me or make me submit to you. This is the procedure of making another alpha accept your authority, right?” she challenged him in straight words, boring holes in his skull.
His demand was like humiliation to her. She was his fated mate, and yet he was demanding something ridiculous.
“Lucifer is cursed, Anaya. He is 29 and didn’t find his mate yet because he can’t feel the mate bond," Jacob told her through mind-link.
Anaya widened her eyes in realization, stopping laughing and looking at Jacob in shock.
He nodded by blinking as his face was harshly pressed to the ground.
Anaya and Jacob had a blood pact between them. So, Jacob can mind-link her.
He was the only one who could mind-link her.
“Do you actually think that you have a chance in front of me, woman?” Lucifer asked her in a growl, snapping Anaya out of her gaze.
No wonder he didn’t recognize her as his mate.
She can’t even ask him to reject her because of that curse.
“Whether I have a chance or not, leave it to my fate, Lucifer. I will never accept you as my alpha until you defeat me.” Anaya stood her ground and slowly tucked her guns inside the belt on her back.
Lucifer’s jaw ticked, but Beast felt a weird kind of pleasure in Anaya’s challenge and refusal to their authority.
This was a trait of a true alpha.
A true alpha never submits himself to another alpha without a fight.
Lucifer struck his knee on Winnie’s thigh with a little force.
Winnie screamed in pain and fell forward. She felt as if her thighbone was broken by Lucifer’s strike.
But Lucifer didn’t let go of her hair and neck.
Now her body was hanging awkwardly in front of him.
“I wonder how pleasurable and satisfying taming you would be, Anaya.” Lucifer taunted, and Anaya scoffed at his attempt to humiliate her.
“And I wonder how pleasurable and satisfying it would be to break your arrogance, Lucifer. Tell me, Lucifer.” She slowly leaned forward, showing a sarcastic, amusing expression on her face.
“How did it feel to be rejected by a human, huh?”
Beast growled aloud through Lucifer this time.
Anaya felt a jolt of pleasurable shivers run through her body, and she both hated and enjoyed this feeling at the same time.
Facing Vincent’s face like an enemy was already taking a toll on her, and now the effect of the mate bond was messing with her emotions.
“I, Lucifer Hawthorne, with my wolf, Beast Hawthorne, accept you, Anaya Rivers White, as my mate and my luna.” Lucifer suddenly announced with Beast.
His voice sounded animalistic because of Beast’s presence.
Everyone held their breaths in shock, widening their eyes to the maximum.
Anaya’s heart was hit by a jolt of electricity as soon as the acceptance hit her eardrums.
Her knees almost buckled because of the sheer pleasure that ran through her body because of that acceptance.
Even if Lucifer didn’t recognize her as his fated mate, she knew, and this was like an acceptance of his fated mate.
“Don’t let yourself drown in this pleasure, Anaya. Remember what happened to your mother.” Her inner soul warned her angrily.
Anaya felt tears in her eyes again.
She can’t let herself walk on the same path, and living with a person with the same face as Vincent, and above all her fated mate, would be like going through hell every second for the rest of her life.
“Say the word 'rejection,' and the whole pack will be drop-dead, Anaya. Their lives are in your hand.” Lucifer declared in the coldest tone, Beast’s presence evident in his voice.
