I took large strides toward them, my fist grazing Seth’s face as I pulled Anna behind me in one swift
motion.
“Don’t drag my wife into your bullshit!” I warned coldly, feeling Anna struggling against my grip.
Seth threw a punch at my chest. I didn’t even flinch.
“You’re going too far! I knew Anna when she didn’t even know you existed!” Seth shouted, his face twisted with rage.
Displeasure surged in my chest. I kicked toward him, watching with satisfaction as he stumbled
backward.
Seth charged forward, landing another blow. The force wasn’t much, but it was enough to fully ignite
my fury.
I glared at Anna, seeing the fear in her eyes only fueling my anger further.
I began unbuttoning my suit jacket, determined to teach this arrogant bastard a lesson.
Suddenly, Anna darted in front of Seth, arms spread protectively. The sight pierced through me.
“Blake, you’ve gone far enough,” she said, her voice carrying that familiar stubbornness.
I noticed her concern was entirely for Seth, and bitterness rose in my throat.
“Move aside!” I commanded coldly.
Seth pushed Anna away, posturing heroically. “Anna, go wait in my car. I’m definitely taking you
home after this! I think he’s lost his mind!”
I threw a punch that Seth barely evaded. His clumsy movement improved my mood slightly.
Anna ran between us. I nearly struck her, panic rushing through me as I pulled back just in time.
Anna instinctively closed her eyes, bracing for impact. For a moment, I felt heartache, but it quickly
turned to pain knowing she’d only done this for Seth’s sake.
Seth stepped forward to steady Anna, warning me, “If you dare hit a woman, our friendship is over!”
“If I really wanted to hit her, she’d be on the ground already,” I responded coldly, while knowing I could never actually harm her.

I grabbed Anna’s wrist, breaking Seth’s hold on her arm, and pulled her against me.
Anna seemed disoriented, then gave a bitter smile. “Should I thank Mr. Wright for showing mercy?”
I ignored her sarcasm and explained to Seth, “You can go. My family wants me to bring her home.” I deliberately emphasized “my family,” reminding Seth that Anna was my wife now.
Seth stood helplessly, but the concern in his eyes for Anna only fueled my anger.
I dragged Anna to my car. Her lack of resistance somehow agitated me more. The old Anna would have fought back fiercely. Was she afraid fighting would make me return and hurt Seth?
Just as she reached for the door handle, I slammed my palm against the window, blocking her. I watched her freeze.
A nameless fire burned in my chest. I curved my arm around her waist, feeling her stiffen.
I lifted her chin and kissed her without warning, reminding her who she was married to.
She was pinned against the car door. I could feel her resistance and rejection.
I grabbed her hands and held them above her head, preventing her from pushing me away.
My kiss was full of anger, without tenderness, only wanting to assert ownership.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain and tasted iron. She had bitten me.
I pulled back in surprise, seeing disgust in her eyes–something I’d never seen from her before.
When I cautiously approached again, she positioned herself to bite once more. I avoided it just in time, a bitter smile crossing my face.
“What’s your problem?” I asked impatiently.
“Don’t touch me!” Her warning carried unprecedented resoluteness.
“Is it that you don’t want me touching you, or that you don’t want me touching you in front of Seth Price?” I questioned, wiping the blood from my lip and chuckling darkly.
She remained silent, looking over my shoulder at Seth, making my jealousy flare.
“You said you wouldn’t touch me again,” she said coldly, turning away to enter the car.
Her indifference hurt more than her resistance.
I pressed my hand over hers as she reached for the seatbelt, feeling her slight tremor.

I helped with the seatbelt. “Why aren’t you resisting now? Don’t you hate me?” I asked, my voice deeper than intended.
She calmly shook her head, closing her eyes. “You’ve done this before too.”
Her words startled me, memories flooding back–of how she used to blush at my kisses, not respond
with coldness.
“You weren’t like this before,” I said resentfully, gripping the steering wheel until my knuckles
whitened.
The car started moving, Seth’s figure disappearing in the rearview mirror.
Silence filled the space between us, more suffocating than any argument.
I remembered how she looked at me during our wedding, her eyes full of love. Today, they showed
only disgust.
The phone’s ringtone broke the silence. It was the hospital–Claire’s condition had changed.
I answered, learning Claire wanted to see me. Our destination changed to the hospital.
I noticed Anna frown slightly at Claire’s name, deepening my suspicions.
“Has Claire’s condition become serious?” she asked tentatively, her voice carrying an unreadable
emotion.
I studied her puzzled expression. “Anna, tell me the truth. Was it you who arranged for that guy to
stab Claire?” I stared directly into her eyes, searching for deception.
“It wasn’t me!” she denied firmly, her gaze steady, but I no longer knew whether to trust her.
I swerved to the roadside and slammed on the brakes, needing to face her directly.
With one
eering wheel, I felt utterly exhausted. I closed my eyes and pinched the
the throbbing in my temples.

I felt a moment of doubt, but Claire’s injuries kept my suspicions alive.
not a judge. Investigations are for the police,” she said defensively.
e police are at the hospital now, waiting to take you in. If you confess now, I can help smooth things over,” I responded with a cold smile.
