Chapter 271
Anna’s POV:
His eyes locked onto mine across the table.
You say you never thought about being with me forever, yet here you are, enjoying yourself and reminiscing about our past. Blake said, his voire a mix of demand and vulnerability.
He laughed quietly, but his eyes betrayed intense pain. Tears dampened his handsome face. “Anna, aren’t you just lying to yourself?”

A bitter ache spread through my chest as I looked at him. The years had left their mark on his face we weren’t young anymore. After today, we’d be nothing but figures from each other’s past.
“Call security and your manager,‘ I said calmly to the waitstaff. ‘We reserved this entire venue. You let unauthorized people in, and I want an explanation
The models who had crashed our dinner paled instantly. I could see the panic in their eyes – they were worried about losing their appearance fees and possibly facing penalties.
Their panic quickly turned to anger. Several of them lunged toward Blake, trying to restrain him. He fought back fiercely, but it was an evenly matched struggle that wouldn’t end well.
Eventually, they overpowered him. For the first time in my presence, Blake was forcibly pinned to the ground, tears mixing with dust on his face. It was like watching an angel lose its wings and transform into a demon – a necessary but brutal humiliation.
“Don’t worry, miss. This is nothing. No need to call management,” one model said proudly. “We’ve got everything under control.
Despite being pinned down, Blake still clutched the microphone tightly, somehow maintaining his innate dignity. He laughed softly and called out, “Anna! Just admit you’re lying to yourself!”
Shut up!” One of the models snapped. “The lady hasn’t even agreed not to call management yet, and you’re still talking? I’ll make you shut up!”
The model raised his foot, aiming directly at Blake’s face – specifically his mouth.
I jumped up without thinking. “NO!” The shout tore from my throat, raw and desperate.
Everyone froze, staring at me. The room fell silent.
I felt something coppery in my throat as exhaustion washed over me. I collapsed back onto the sofa, struggling to breathe.
Blake looked at me, silently mouthing: “Please, just say you’re lying to yourself, okay?”
I shook my head and covered my eyes with my hand. I could have sworn I heard his voice whisper, “Save me…”
~That damn hallucination. My mind was in chaos.
I suddenly stood up and staggered toward the exit, not even saying goodbye to Emily.
“Anna!” Emily called after me, but the models blocked her, demanding payment for the drinks.
I ran until my strength gave out, finally leaning against a large tree on a street in Back Bay to catch my breath.
The roar of an engine grew louder, and a sports car pulled up in front of me. Blake jumped out.
Before I could react, he grabbed my hand and practically dragged me to his car. He didn’t even buckle up before accelerating to a dangerous speed.
My face went pale. I felt sick to my stomach and fumbled for the seatbelt, terrified.
Blake was completely out of control – red–eyed, staring straight ahead, ignoring my existence.

Blake, are you insane?” I yelled.
No response. He just drove faster.
*Blake! If you want to die, don’t take me with you! STOP! Let me out!” I screamed in fear.
The word “die” seemed to trigger something in him. His pupils constricted. I’d rather die with you! he finally spoke, pushing the car even faster
I realized provoking him would make things worse. I tried to sound calmer. “Okay, I won’t ask you to stop. Just slow down. Wherever you’re taking me 11 go. We haven’t seen each other in so long we could talk on the way.”
–
He ignored me completely. I wondered if he could even hear me.
“Anna, we should have died together at Seth’s wedding,” Blake suddenly announced. “That way we could be together forever and give Seth a wedding hed never forget!”
The car accelerated to its limit.
**
He’s completely lost it. He doesn’t want to live and doesn’t want me to live either. Seth was already forced into marriage what more does Blake want
For a moment, death almost seemed like a relief.
“Fine! Let’s just die together!” I broke down, tears streaming down my face. I covered my abdomen with both hands and screamed, “Die with your child! We’ll all go together!”
Blake was stunned. “What did you say?”
He turned his head, his face changing from pale to flushed. “Anna, say that again!”
I remembered the doctor’s visit where I’d learned I was pregnant again. It had happened during that time overseas during New Year’s when we hadn’t used protection. The doctor warned my body wasn’t ideal for pregnancy – likely related to that tea Caroline had given me years ago.
–
I’d been so careful since finding out canceling work, constantly anxious. As a soon–to–be single mother, I felt scared and alone, but I was determined to have this baby. I had planned to hide it from Blake, divorce him, move away, and return after giving birth.
I refused to repeat myself, just glared at him.
‘Anna, say it again. What did you just say?” he pressed.
The car gradually slowed.
“It was that time, wasn’t it? It had to be!” he muttered to himself. His face lit up with joy. “Anna, I’m going to be a father!”
I sighed with relief but turned away, not wanting to speak to him.

of our near–death experience, partly from feelings I couldn’t express.
The car pulled over on a quiet street in Back Bay. Blake/turned my body toward him and cupped my face, wiping my tears with his thumbs.
I rejected his comfort, trying to push his hands away
“I’m sorry,” he said. “Are you feeling unwell anywhere? I’ll take you to the hospital!”
I tried to open the door to leave.
Blake cornered me, his tone pleading: “We have a child now. We can give our baby a complete family. Please don’t divorce me, okay?”
