CHAPTER 46: WOULD SHE EVER FORGIVE ME

CHAPTER 46: WOULD SHE EVER FORGIVE ME

Enzo POV

Oh Diana” I said I stroked her face while she was asleep, my heart beating with each strokes on her face, I couldn’t explain how I felt but I knew I had a strong feel that words couldn’t describe.

I stretched out as I checked the time it was 4am I got up and glanced at her once again as I saw few blood stains on the bed, “I can’t afford to share you Diana “ I said to my self as I walked out of the door heading to my room and hoping that Diana wouldn’t hate me for this.

I stepped out of the room and exhaled, letting the fresh air fill my lungs. A sudden warmth washed over me as I made my way back to my room.

Memories of last night kept flooding my mind, vivid and unrelenting.

The romance , the way our eyes met across the room, the quiet moans that lingered long after everyone else had gone. It all felt so untrue yet real , like a dream that refused to fade after waking.

I ran my hand through my hair, trying to shake it off, but my chest felt tight. Not in a painful way more like something was stuck there. Something unsaid.

I laid on my bed with memories full of the nights before and decided to put on my alarm by 7:am

Ugh, the alarm blared to life, its obnoxious "Grrrr!!! Grrr!!!" piercing through my dreams and jolting me awake. I slapped at it blindly, my hand swatting at the snooze button like it owed me money.

Finally, the annoying sound stopped, and I could roll out of bed. I stumbled into the bathroom, still half asleep, my eyes squinting against the harsh morning light that seemed to be mocking me.

As I stretched, a loud "Awwwn" escaped my lips, and I yawned so widely I thought my jaw might actually dislocate. I arched my back, feeling the satisfying crack of my spine as I reached my arms up towards the ceiling.

My body felt like it was made of lead, and all I wanted to do was crawl back into bed and hide under the blankets.

My stomach growled as I made way for the kitchen to prepare toast and omelettes , I hadn’t prepared my meal in a long time and I wondered why I was doing this now

Preparing the meal my mind raced to Diana as smiles crept on my face

Placing the toast and omelette carefully on the tray I decided to take them up to Diana room as the door yanked open

“What are you doing in the kitchen ???” Francesca burst in with her eyes scanning everywhere

“ I need to take this to Diana “ I said calmly to her , I was in a good mood and I didn’t really want anything affecting it at this moment.

“ why are you doing this for her, can’t you see she is turning you into a weakling ???” She burst out

“Why don’t you let me find out all these accusations my self” I said as I made way to leave the kitchen with the tray in my hands

“Don’t tell me you prepared this meal for her yourself “ she said as she looked me directly into my eyes

“You hardly even prepare your meal yourself , talk less of someone else !!!” She shouted as I left the kitchen without answering her questions while I headed to Diana room.

Opening the door, Diana was sitting there with a straight face and no smiles

“I brought you breakfast I said calmly to her as I saw a light smile on her cheek”

“I thought you abandoned me” she said as she looked so innocent

“Why would I do that Diana “ I said as I watched her chew her toast slowly, scanning the room I could see the sheets were already packed

“ the laundry would take care of that “ I said as  she replied with a nod, in less than no time she was done with her meal

“ what do you want from me” she said as I looked at her shocked , I wasn’t expecting her question at all.

“I’m going to be very brief with my explanations I said calmly to her”

“Your father killed my people, and I got my revenge by doing same, you were kept here as an exchange for the one who helped in bringing your parents down, but unfortunately for me I found myself having feelings for you”. I said as I saw a tear roll down her eyes and at that moment I felt a great sympathy towards her.

“Who’s that girl” she asked

“The one who  wants you in exchange , his name is Carlos and that his sister Francesca”

“Did last night mean nothing to you” she said as I could see how weak she felt and at that moment I felt she wasn’t lying about her amnesia.

“It meant something Diana, as I said I got feelings for you, and no one would take you away not even Carlos, so you just have to be safe here and do not leave “.. I warned quietly

“Aren’t you just a monster like him?” She blurted out

“It’s revenge Diana, I have no ill feelings towards you and you being kept here is to make you safe “ i said as I left the room immediately.

I stepped out onto the veranda, the warm sunlight hitting me like a slap in the face as I lit up a cigarette. I took a long drag, feeling the nicotine kick in as I thought about Carlos.

This whole thing was getting out of hand, and I needed to deal with it before it blew up in my face. But first things first, I had to make sure Diana was safe. She didn't deserve to get caught in the middle of all this.

As I exhaled, my mind started wandering to her.

“Would she ever forgive me? Or would this new her still be consumed by hatred? What was the point of punishing her, anyway?” I'd gotten my revenge, and it didn't feel as sweet as I thought it would. If anything, it felt hollow.

And then this thought hit me  maybe we could just move on from all this. Maybe we could be together, forget about the past.

It sounded crazy, I know. Too much had happened, and the wounds ran too deep. But the thought stuck with me, taunting me with its simplicity.

Could we really put all this behind us? Or was I just kidding myself? I took another drag of my cigarette, the smoke swirling around me as I pondered the impossible.

I called out his name, "Franco!!!!" He responded with a curt "Sir!!!" I gave him the message, "Tell the laundry lady to go pick up the sheet from Diana," and he replied with a prompt "Right away, sir." As he spoke, I continued puffing on my cigarette, the smoke curling lazily into the air.
