Chapter 247 Spring Breeze Proud
Scarlett had no idea what Ambrose was doing until she got a WhatsApp message from her good friend Briar and found out that Ambrose had announced their relationship.
She opened her phone and immediately saw his WhatsApp post, with a string of likes below it and comments.
Ruben: [Congrats, Ambrose, no longer a single man.]
Felix: [Finally made it official, wasn't easy.]
Briar: [Treat my Scarlett right, or I'll come after you with a knife. She added a note: Mr. Boleyn, don't take it personally. I just have to say something.]
Scarlett fell silent.
After reading Briar's timid comment, she turned to look at Ambrose beside her. He looked extremely pleased with himself, like a peacock showing off its feathers.
She said, "Being so public about it, aren't you going to deal with the Mitchell family anymore?"
Ambrose reolied, "At this point, there's no need to deal with them. So making this announcement is also telling them my attitude. I just want everyone around me to know I have a girlfriend now."
Scarlett had nothing to say. Everything he said made sense, so she didn't say anything more.
"You should post something too," Ambrose continued.
Scarlett hesitated a bit, "Is that necessary?"
Ambrose's expression showed visible resentment, "You don't want people to know I exist?"
Scarlett thought what he said was funny. Which of her friends didn't know about his existence?
"I only have those few friends, and you know them all. Everyone knows about you."
Ambrose's original intention in posting was to let all the men around her know that she had a boyfriend.
"Knowing I exist is one thing, but me being your boyfriend is another thing." As he spoke, he reached out to take her phone, wanting to post for her.
Scarlett quickly gripped her phone tighter, "Ambrose, do you know that being too public can lead to failure?"
Scarlett felt that since they didn't know what would happen between them in the future, it was better to date quietly. Even if things didn't work out later, they could break up quietly too. That would be better for both of them.
Plus, she felt that being too public could easily lead to failure.
Ambrose didn't believe in such things and seriously pressed her, "Did Finnian confess his feelings to you?"
Why was he suddenly asking this question?
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"Since we're boyfriend and girlfriend, you should tell them you have a boyfriend now and put an end to their restless thoughts." Ambrose was very bothered by this.
Earlier, when Finnian called, his level of concern was no less than his own. Although she wouldn't get involved with Finnian for now, who knew what would happen in the future?
Especially since Ambrose was still hiding something major from her.
Scarlett understood now - Ambrose was bothered by Finnian. It was probably because last time when Finnian confessed to her and hugged her when she got out of the car, Ambrose saw it and had remembered it until now.
When Finnian called earlier, he wasn't too happy about it either.
After thinking it over, she felt she needed to clear things up with him to stop him from being suspicious.
"Although Finnian confessed to me, we talked it through, and now we're just friends. When Finnian heard I had a problem earlier, he cared enough to help find out what was going on. That's normal. We've always been like this. Whenever I have any issues, he's the first to help me. His feelings are very pure."
Ambrose was fine until he heard that last sentence, then he started comparing.
"His feelings are pure, so mine aren't pure?"
Faced with his misinterpretation, Scarlett felt helpless. She couldn't list out all the ways Finnian had been good to her and helped her - if she did, Ambrose would probably be even more bothered.
"Anyway, my relationship with Finnian isn't what you think it is."
"Besides, everyone has the right to like someone. I can't just cut off contact with him because of that."
"I just want you to announce our relationship. I'm not asking you to cut off contact with him." Ambrose insisted.
He wanted to see how important he was to her.
Scarlett's eyes widened. Actually, she understood Ambrose's concern very well - he just wanted to claim his territory. She didn't want things to become unpleasant, so in the end, she took a step back.
"Actually, it's not that I don't want to post, I'm just worried about being too public."
She had been hurt in love before, so she worried about feelings that could disappear in an instant.
Although Ambrose didn't believe it, seeing that she did, and knowing she lacked a sense of security, he nuzzled her cheek, "As long as you don't leave me, no one can break us apart."
This was a kind of promise, promising that she held the power in the relationship.
While they were debating, Ambrose got a phone call. He picked up his phone, saw the caller's number, frowned slightly, then answered.
"The higher-ups called. Everything's been arranged. But they said Hayden was born to the Mitchell family's daughter, so I explained the whole story. The Mitchell family might find out about this later, so keep a close eye on Hayden."
It was Cody calling.
"I know."
Cody then said, "I heard you've made things official with the Mellon family's daughter. Find a time to bring her home for dinner!"
When Ambrose announced their relationship, he knew everyone would find out, but he didn't expect Cody's information network to be so fast - he knew within minutes.
Cody's capabilities really couldn't be underestimated.
"Okay, I'll talk to her about it and let you know when we set a time."
After ending the call, Ambrose took the phone from his ear and saw Scarlett fiddling with his hand, as if taking a photo.
He suddenly understood - she had agreed. The corners of his lips curved up.
Actually, having come this far, Scarlett also felt that announcing their relationship wasn't a big deal. After taking a photo of their hands clasped together, she posted with a caption.
"Starting over."
Although she didn't use the term "boyfriend," his hand was in the shot, and the meaning was clear - confirming Ambrose's position as her boyfriend.
Ambrose happily pulled her onto his lap and nuzzled her nose, "Grandpa just called and asked me to bring you home for dinner."
Scarlett was stunned. Cody found out so quickly?
"How about Saturday?" Ambrose asked for her opinion while kissing her face.
Scarlett felt that going to the Boleyn family for dinner right after confirming their relationship was a bit too rushed!
Her eyes locked on his face as she said in a muffled voice, "There are still a few days until Saturday, let's talk about it then!"
Her reaction was enough to show that she still had concerns, and he could more or less guess what those concerns were.
The difference in status.
Although they each had a child, her family had fallen from grace, and especially since Cody had said those things before, she naturally had reservations.
He wouldn't push her. Things were complicated right now anyway. After dealing with everything, they could talk about their relationship.
"Whatever you decide," he said.
Scarlett felt valued, and her heart lifted. She leaned over and kissed the corner of his lips.
This was the first time Scarlett had initiated a kiss in public. Ambrose's smile grew wide - having the boyfriend title definitely came with better perks.
So when she was about to pull away, he held her and deepened the kiss.
Sitting on his lap, Scarlett's arms unconsciously wrapped around his neck as she lost herself in the kiss.
