Chapter 14: His only choice
Brandon is back! Diana was so angry that she fell to the ground and looked at him with tears in her eyes. "I came to see you because I was worried about your health. But when I got here, Victoria said she was the mistress of the Duncan Family and that I was a shameless third party. She told me to leave."
Brandon's eyes narrowed.
He strode over to Victoria, who was standing inside.
"You said you're the mistress of the Duncan Family?"
Victoria instinctively felt a little scared of him and involuntarily shrank her neck.
He came back quickly. Could it be that he came to see Diana? He really does care about her.
It seems that the two of them have been together for a long time. Although she could anger Diana by saying that she is Brandon's legitimate wife, Victoria knew in her heart that Brandon just didn't have time to get a divorce.
"I...I originally..." Victoria wanted to argue in front of Diana, but Brandon slapped the table with a loud bang.
The sandalwood table trembled slightly. Victoria looked at his angry face and immediately shut her mouth.
"You should know very well what your purpose is here, mistress of the Duncan Family. Do you even deserve to be here?"
Diana's face, which had been somewhat angry, suddenly brightened.
Victoria was indeed trying to provoke her, and Brandon didn't even acknowledge her as the young mistress. Brandon glanced at the crying Diana.
But now was not the time to punish Victoria. He could only take a deep breath and say to the people around him, "Take Miss Evans back."
Diana stood up with a look of grievance, looking at him unwillingly. "You must take good care of yourself, and Victoria lives with you... You must be careful. I... I'll go back first."
Her words implied to Brandon that he couldn't be trusted, reminding him that when Victoria lived with him as a vegetable, who knew what would happen now that he was conscious.
Brandon received the message and, thinking of Diana's kindness to him earlier, looked at her again and said, "I know."
But Victoria did need to be by his side for him to feel at ease.
Seeing that Diana had left, she gave Victoria a fierce glare. It was really worrying to have the two of them living together.
As she watched Diana leave, Victoria was still silent, thinking about what he had said - that she didn't deserve it.
Although she knew very well that their identities and statuses were different, Victoria still felt unhappy when Diana exposed her in front of everyone. She was just a designer hired by him, and it was understandable that he would humiliate her for the sake of his beloved. But that person was Diana, who used to be so good to her but betrayed her friend in the past. It made Victoria feel uncomfortable. Brandon noticed the change in her expression, and couldn't help but take a deep look at her, seeing that the radiance she had when drawing earlier had disappeared.
However, Victoria obediently followed his order to go back to her room and do what she was supposed to do. As Brandon turned around and left, Victoria cursed him from head to toe.
He was such a heartless and cold-blooded man, no wonder he was once in a vegetative state. Why couldn't he just stay unconscious forever?
When she returned to her room, Victoria still felt uneasy. She thought it would be better to get the divorce certificate as soon as possible instead of dragging it out like this. She decided to go to the study to find him, but when she arrived at the door, she heard two voices inside.
It was Elijah talking to him about something.
"Sir, Miss Griffin's design today was truly breathtaking. Everyone who saw it was amazed," Elijah said.
"Okay, the design is good. Let's start planning according to her design," Brandon said as he returned and saw the scene. He didn't get too angry with her because her design had gained everyone's approval.
The project team, which had been lifeless, now had high morale. They all felt that this design would become the latest landmark building in High City.
Many people also expressed their desire to meet this mysterious designer.
"Thanks to Miss Griffin,
President Larson must be very angry. After he heard the news today, he searched for a long time just to find out who the designer was. He must be surprised. Under his monopoly of all designers, we thought our project would not be completed. Who would have thought that we would meet Miss Griffin? It's fate. Miss Griffin is our savior now," someone praised.
Although it was not an exaggeration, Brandon still pursed his lips as he listened. Outside, Victoria, who had overheard all of this, remained calm on the surface but was already in turmoil inside. She had thought that he appreciated her talent and had reluctantly given her this opportunity.
Now she finally understood that she was his only choice.
It took Victoria a long time to come back to her room and slowly figure it out.
No wonder he paid her so generously and let her stay here to draw designs for him.
But for someone who had done him such a favor, he said she was unworthy and treated her so badly.
Ha, now he should be begging her, shouldn't he?
Victoria suddenly didn't want to get divorced for the time being.
In the study.
Brandon was still looking at all the plans for the Bay project. From waking up until now, it was the first time he felt so happy.
However, at this moment, there was a light cough at the door.
Standing at the door, Brandon looked proud with a slightly raised head, wide deer eyes, and a hint of a smile on her lips. She looked at him without any reservation, and when she saw his eyebrows twitch, she felt a sense of satisfaction.
He frowned and put away his joy, "Who let you come here? Didn't I tell you to stay in your room and draw? Don't run around."
Yes, these days he had been ordering her around with such a commanding tone, as if he was high above and she was as lowly as dust, and had to be slaughtered by him.
Who did he think he was?
"I don't feel comfortable drawing in that room. I want to change the place."
Brandon really thought he had misheard.
He stood up with a cold smile, his tall figure suddenly showing his majesty.
"Do you think you have the right to choose?"
