Chapter 87
The next morning, I dropped Jessica off at kindergarten first, then headed to work.
The car slowly pulled into the underground parking garage.
As soon as I got out, a dark figure rushed straight at me!
"Sue! You bitch! I'm going to kill you!"
My body reacted before I could think, dodging her slap.
I had to thank Brian for that—being around him meant dealing with plenty of trouble from his women.
Only then did I see clearly that the person charging at me was none other than Victoria!
Compared to the elegant and dignified Victoria I'd seen before, the person in front of me now looked like a complete mess.
Her face was sallow, her hair disheveled, and her bloodshot eyes were glaring at me.
"Victoria, if you're sick, go see a doctor. What are you doing here, looking for me?" I frowned and asked in a low voice.
She still hadn't paid for throwing coffee at me in public or exposing Jessica and me online, and now here she was coming to find me.
"It was you... It must have been you plotting behind the scenes, right? If it wasn't for you, why would Jason have me fired? It must be you!" Victoria got more and more worked up, her voice getting louder and louder.
Her shrill voice was so piercing that it made me frown in discomfort.
"What does Glacier Corp's business have to do with me? Can I control how Jason manages his employees?"
"Bitch! Still making excuses! If you hadn't shamelessly climbed into Jason's bed, why would he even look at you?! I'm going to teach you a lesson today!"
Victoria screamed and lunged at me!
I dodged to the side, grabbed Victoria's long hair, and slapped her hard across the face!
The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the underground garage.
Victoria's face turned to the side.
She touched her cheek in disbelief and asked, "You dare hit me? What did I say that was wrong?!"
Without hesitation, I slapped her again!
The anger I'd been holding in came pouring out.
I didn't care if she had a problem with me, but she shouldn't have gone after Jessica!
"If you like Jason so much, go chase him yourself! Don't come here and act crazy in front of me! You really thought I wouldn't dare hit you, huh!"
I sneered and gave her two more slaps!
Fear flashed in Victoria's eyes. She tried to struggle, but I yanked her hair and slammed her face against the rough wall.
Victoria screamed, her voice incredibly shrill. "You bitch, now you've finally stopped pretending, haven't you? I'm going to tell Jason! You actually dared to hit me!"
"Say whatever you want to Jason, I don't care." I sneered.
Just slapping her wasn't enough. I kicked her knees twice.
Victoria fell to the ground.
I never thought Jason and I had any future anyway, so of course I didn't care what she'd say about me.
What made me angry was that she exposed Jessica online.
That was my little girl I'd carefully raised. When had she ever been wronged like this?
Even growing up in a single-parent home, I'd done everything possible to protect her from harm.
And then Victoria went and exposed everything online!
Victoria screamed in pain, glaring at me with hatred.
"You bitch, you... Ah!"
I kicked her and sneered, "If you don't know how to talk, I don't mind teaching you!"
Without giving Victoria a chance to speak, I kicked her again.
Victoria's eyes filled with tears from the pain. She swallowed the curse words on her lips and said instead, "I'm going to tell Jason about this. The Cooper family will never allow a bitch to marry into the Cooper family. You'll pay for hitting me!"
I actually laughed when I heard that.
"Then hurry up and go. You keep talking about Jason. If you're so capable, go find him. Why are you here, bothering me?"
I gave Victoria one last hard kick and let go of her hair.
Without hesitation, Victoria scrambled away.
I stared coldly at Victoria's retreating figure, feeling nothing but irony.
Sudden applause rang out.
Brian emerged from a corner, looking at me appreciatively. "Ms. Wilson, you looked really fierce just now. I've never seen you like that before."
He paused, then added, "But you looked really beautiful like that. Very captivating."
I felt a bit embarrassed.
I hadn't expected Brian to witness me hitting someone.
My face felt a bit hot as I said awkwardly, "Sorry you had to see that, Mr. Ethan."
"That's nothing to be sorry about."
Brian suddenly became serious, looking at me earnestly and saying word by word, "Actually, I'm glad to see you like this. At least this way you won't get bullied, and you're a DT Corp person. DT Corp will back you up."
A warm feeling spread through my heart. I smiled at Brian gratefully. "Thank you, Mr. Ethan."
"Let's go up together."
As soon as I entered the company, I immediately felt several strange looks directed at me.
"Did you all see that thing online before? Who knew Ms. Wilson not only looks pretty but is also so calculating!"
"That's Mr. Cooper we're talking about! Ms. Wilson actually had a relationship with him before. Now she's working at DT—could it be that Mr. Cooper got tired of her and dumped her?"
"Obviously... she even secretly had a child. No wonder she never wanted to talk about kids before. So that's why..."
The voices weren't quiet, and I heard every word.
I pressed my lips together slightly, trying not to let it bother me.
Since this had been exposed online, it naturally meant I'd be talked about at work.
Compared to my calm, Brian actually frowned and scolded coldly, "Don't you all have work to do?! The company didn't hire you to gossip! Get back to work!"
Everyone immediately fell silent and returned to their workstations, burying themselves behind their computers.
I followed Brian into the elevator.
After the elevator doors closed, only the two of us remained.
"Don't pay attention to what they say. They only talk like that because they don't know you." Brian comforted me.
A faint smile appeared on my face as I shook my head. "It's okay, Mr. Ethan. I don't care what they say."
Compared to when I was holding baby Jessica and looking for work everywhere, what did a little gossip matter?
It wasn't going to cost me a penny of my salary.
The elevator suddenly fell silent.
I stared at the rising numbers.
Suddenly, I heard Brian ask quietly, "Have you ever regretted having Jessica?"
"No regrets." I shook my head without hesitation. Thinking of Jessica's happy smile, a genuine smile appeared on my face too. "Jessica is the best gift the world has given me."
