Chapter 70

Chapter 70

Jason leaned against the doorframe, his head lowered.

He looked up when he heard me coming, his deep gaze landing straight on me.

"Where were you?" Jason's voice was low, his eyes full of inquiry as he looked at me.

I felt a bit baffled. What was our relationship anyway? Why did I need to report to him?

Meeting Jason's obviously darkened eyes, I didn't argue back.

"I ate out with Jessica today," I answered softly.

"Who else was there?" Jason pressed.

Was this guy really pushing his luck?

But since I'd already explained once, answering a couple more questions wouldn't hurt.

I sighed and said, "Just the two of us."

If I didn't answer, who knew what shocking things Jason might say.

Jessica was still here, and I didn't want her to hear anything weird.

Jason's expression instantly softened and brightened.

A pleased smile curved his lips as he smoothly took the bag from my hand.

His movement was so natural that I only realized what happened when my hand was empty.

I gave him a long look and pulled out my keys to open the door.

Jason naturally followed Jessica and me inside, taking out his own slippers from the shoe cabinet and putting them on.

Jessica had just finished a trial taekwondo class and was covered in sweat.

As soon as she got inside, she headed straight for the bathroom to shower.

Jason followed behind me, his burning gaze impossible to ignore.

After putting everything away, I sighed quietly and turned around.

Jason couldn't stop in time, and we collided directly.

Jason took the opportunity to hold me, looking down into my eyes. "Are you throwing yourself into my arms?"

I gritted my teeth silently and pushed Jason away forcefully. "Weren't you the one who bumped into me?"

Jason let me go, his eyes downcast, looking at me pitifully and aggrieved. "I'm so hungry, I haven't eaten anything yet."

I paused, silent.

Jason's thin lips pressed together slightly, his gaze growing more pitiful. "I want to eat your cooking..."

He'd always loved my cooking before.

I hadn't expected that even now, nothing had changed.

I couldn't help but soften.

"Wait then." I dropped that line and headed to the kitchen.

Jason followed me into the kitchen.

He reached out to wrap his arms around my waist, but I slapped his hand away without mercy.

"If you want to eat, get out. Don't make trouble for me here," I warned coldly.

Jason immediately pulled his hand back and leaned against the kitchen doorway, watching me.

Since Jessica and I had already eaten out today, there weren't many fresh ingredients at home.

I simply made him some egg noodles.

When the noodles were done, a rich aroma spread through the kitchen.

"Let me carry it myself." Jason stepped forward to take the bowl.

I nodded slightly. "Go ahead and eat then. I still have work to do."

With that, I went straight back to my bedroom and opened my laptop to handle work files.

I heard the bathroom door open outside.

Jessica must have gone to find Jason.

She really did love her dad.

Looking at it this way, letting Jason spend more time with Jessica was still worth it.

I pulled my thoughts back and focused on work.

When I'd finished most of my work and closed my computer, about to tidy up the living room, when someone suddenly knocked on the bedroom door.

I opened the door to find Jason standing there, looking at me seriously. "The noodles were delicious, thank you."

"You're welcome. Since you're done eating, you can go home now," I answered calmly.

But Jason not only didn't leave, but he took another step forward.

Seeing him about to enter my room, I quickly blocked him. "Wait! What are you doing coming into my room?"

"I missed you," Jason spoke directly.

Those short, straightforward words hit hard against my heart.

My breathing hitched slightly, and I instinctively turned my head away to avoid his gaze. "Jason, don't say things that make people misunderstand."

"I'm serious." Jason grabbed my hand directly and pressed it against his chest.

The next moment, his lips covered mine.

"The door..." I stared in shock, my muffled words swallowed by the man.

Jason's other hand wrapped around my waist, and with a long leg kicked back, the bedroom door closed directly.

In the private bedroom, only the two of us remained.

Jason gradually changed from gentle at first to extremely aggressive.

I trembled my lashes and slowly opened my eyes, catching his deep gaze unexpectedly.

My soul seemed to ignite along with my body.

My legs went weak, and I nearly collapsed into Jason's arms, completely drained.

He held me tightly, step by step, leading me backward toward the bed.

All of this felt so long-missed yet familiar.

Every cell in my body was cheering, celebrating this intimate contact after five years.

My brain was in a fog, leaving me unable even to refuse.

The voice in my heart was so obvious.

I was happy because of Jason's closeness.

"Sue..." Jason's eyes were heavy with desire.

He called my name in a low, hoarse voice, especially stirring.

My originally muddled brain suddenly cleared for a moment, and my hands suddenly found strength—I pushed him away with all my might!

The heat suddenly withdrew, and an undeniable sense of loss rose in my heart.

Jason looked at me, confused. "Why?"

He licked his dry lips. "I can feel it—you want me too."

He said it so matter-of-factly, but my heart ached as if cut by a knife.

"Jason, we already broke up." I took a deep breath, looking at Jason almost pleadingly. "I don't want to maintain this unclear relationship. Can you please let me go?"

I'd been trying so hard to make myself determined to let go of the past, to let go of Jason.

But every time, Jason would appear before me, igniting the spark in my heart again and again.

We ended five years ago!

"I never thought of it as unclear. I've been seriously pursuing you all along. Let's get back together." Jason spoke with unusual firmness.

He crouched by the bed, looking at me seriously and persistently. "I love you—I did five years ago, and even more so now. Whenever I see you, my heart and my brain are beyond my control. Now I can give you anything you want. Let's get back together, okay?"

The more he said this, the less I understood.

"Jason, we're already over. Don't you understand?"

"I'm the one who decides about things between us," Jason spoke with certainty.

His gaze fell on my lips, his fingertips caressing the same spot on his own thin lips. "And just now when I kissed you, you didn't push me away. I think that's progress, a sign that you're gradually accepting me."

I pressed my lips together tightly, a sense of powerlessness rising in my heart that I couldn't refute.

What did it matter how firmly I spoke?

My body had been deeply in love with him for five years.

My eyes stung, and I looked away, my voice strained. "But everything is different now..."
