Chapter 171
Jason raised his eyebrows, looking casual and lazy.
"Father? Mr. Miller, you must be mistaken. Sue's father died many years ago. She doesn't even know what her dad looks like."
While speaking, Jason didn't forget to pat my head and let out a sigh, "Don't just claim her as your daughter because Sue is pretty."
I turned to look at Jason and couldn't help giving him a thumbs up.
This guy really knows how to talk!
Can I borrow that mouth of his?
Tyler's face instantly darkened, but in front of Jason, he couldn't lose his temper.
So Tyler could only patiently explain, "I'm telling the truth. I really am Sue's father. Back then, her mother and I had some unpleasantness, which is why we separated."
I raised my eyebrows and said bluntly, "Mr. Miller, you're quite the scholar. You got caught cheating, that's why you and my mom split up, but you make it sound so nice."
"One of you cheated, the other was someone's mistress. How lovely."
Both Jason and Tyler fell silent.
Compared to their silence, I didn't care at all.
Ever since I stopped caring, I've had no reservations about what I say.
The smile on Tyler's face became increasingly awkward.
"Jason, I admit I made some mistakes when I was young, but I'm truly grateful to have Sue as my daughter. I'm sure you feel the same way, right?"
Jason let out a mocking laugh without any courtesy.
Tyler continued shamelessly, "I know you like Sue, and you two even have a child together. The wedding is bound to happen sooner or later. I'll go talk to your dad about your wedding soon!"
He smiled, "A big celebration! The wedding must be grand!"
Watching him act so entitled, I was truly impressed.
How can someone be this shameless?
If I remember correctly, this is our first meeting. Even though he has the title of my biological father, this is just too much!
I sneered at Tyler, "Mr. Miller, what right do you have to arrange my wedding? What does my wedding have to do with you?"
Tyler's tone was very natural, "I'm your dad. If your mom won't take care of it, I have to."
He said it like he was some good father.
But...
I raised my eyebrows, "You really want to take care of it?"
Tyler said, "Of course!"
I nodded thoughtfully, "If you want to take care of it, that's fine. Then divorce your wife right now, cut ties with your son and daughter, and make them all get out of the Miller Group. Oh right, you also need to write a will stating that after you die, the Miller Group goes to me, and all your assets go to me too."
With every sentence I spoke, Tyler's face grew darker.
Finally, his lips twitched, and he practically squeezed out through gritted teeth, "You're joking, right? How could I possibly do such a thing?"
"If you can't, then stop wasting my time with your nonsense. I didn't have a father before, and I won't have one in the future either."
"Sue, I know you're still angry, so I won't hold these words against you. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you properly from now on."
"Just stay away from me."
I showed no courtesy, "I believe you've already figured out that I have absolutely no affection for you as my so-called father. I'm not a three-year-old child anymore. I don't need you to make up for fatherly love!"
As Tyler's face grew increasingly dark, I added, "Besides, ask yourself honestly, do you really want to make amends? You know perfectly well what you're really up to."
He never appeared in the past twenty-some years, and I don't need him in the future either.
Just looking at Tyler's hypocritical face made my stomach churn with disgust.
Jason, who was holding me, also lost his patience and directly issued an order to leave.
"Mr. Miller, take your time leaving. We won't see you out."
Tyler hadn't achieved his goal yet and clearly didn't want to leave.
His gaze circled between me and Jason before he awkwardly said, "Alright then, I'll leave first and won't disturb you two. I'll book a nice restaurant later, and our family can have a good meal together."
Jason curled his lips, "No need. I'm afraid of indigestion."
Before Tyler reached the door, Jason added, "Don't come to our house anymore. You're not welcome here."
Tyler's steps paused, and he left quickly with a dark expression.
The living room instantly fell silent.
I was quiet for a while before looking up at Jason, "Why did you come back today? Weren't you supposed to be back in a couple more days?"
Jason looked at me with gentle eyes, "I missed you."
My heart warmed, and I smiled, "Don't tell me you dumped the work on Samuel again and ran back by yourself?"
Jason lowered his head and kissed my cheek.
"There was a problem with the work there that couldn't be solved right away, so I just came back first."
Hearing there was a problem, my heart tightened, and I asked with concern, "Will it be very troublesome?"
Jason kissed from my cheek to my lips.
"It's okay, don't worry. I'll have to make another trip before New Year's."
Jason held me, wanting to deepen the kiss.
I suddenly realized something and grabbed Jason's hand, looking at his watch.
"I forgot to pick up Jessica."
I sighed inwardly.
It's all Tyler's fault. With him causing such a scene at home, I forgot it was time to pick up the child.
Jason naturally took my hand, "Let's go together."
On the way to the kindergarten, Jason drove while I sat in the passenger seat, lost in thought.
I said the right things, but when things actually quieted down, my heart still felt heavy.
Saying I don't care would definitely be a lie.
I took a deep breath, trying my best to calm my emotions.
Just then, Jason's voice came from beside me.
"If you're feeling bad, talk to me about it. Don't keep it bottled up inside."
Then my hand felt warm—it was Jason.
He kept his eyes on the road while driving, freeing one hand to gently hold mine.
I turned to look at him, "I am a little."
My lips moved, and I couldn't help continuing, "I'm starting to wonder if I was some terrible villain in my past life. Otherwise, how could I end up with parents like these?"
Maybe I'm really that bad, which is why I can't get the family love I want.
Cora doesn't love me and sees me as a disgrace.
Tyler, who claims to be my biological father wanting to make amends, only wants to use me.
Should I say I'm lucky I never hoped for fatherly love?
Otherwise, seeing a father like this, I'd probably feel even worse, right?
Jason tightened his grip on my hand.
"Sue, this isn't your problem. Not all parents in this world love their children. You were just unlucky enough to meet these two."
He sighed, his voice deepening but his tone becoming even gentler, "But a person can't be unlucky forever. Look, now you have me, you have Jessica, Grandma and the others like you very much too. You won't lack love in the future. Love will surround you completely."
My eyes reddened a bit, "Jason, you're being so cheesy."
I turned my head to look out the window, avoiding Jason's gaze.
Tears fell uncontrollably.
Jason pulled my hand up and gently kissed the back of it with his lips.
"Don't cry. You can cry from happiness or being moved, but I won't allow you to cry sad tears because of those two people."
