Chapter 113
Richard was talking while slipping away like greased lightning.
Jason swept him with a cold glance and uttered two words from his thin lips, "Sit down."
Richard's movement froze like someone had hit the pause button.
He sat down reluctantly with a bitter expression on his face.
Jason personally picked up a piece of spare rib for Richard, "Try it, I made this specially. If you don't trust me, don't you trust Linda? Linda supervised all of this."
Linda stood far away. Hearing this, her lips moved as she muttered something under her breath.
I was too far away to hear clearly, but I figured it wasn't anything nice.
Richard stared at the spare rib for quite a while, but ultimately couldn't bring himself to be so heartless.
"Ryan..." Richard looked at Ryan pleadingly for help.
Ryan had a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, but showed no intention of helping whatsoever.
"This is specially picked for you by Jason. When do we ever get this kind of treatment? Stop being picky and just eat it."
Richard didn't want to eat it.
His gaze suddenly fell on me, and his eyes immediately lit up, "Jason learned to cook specifically for Ms. Wilson, so of course Ms. Wilson should take the first bite!"
Before I could say anything, Jason said calmly, "You guys eat first."
Richard's mouth twitched, and he couldn't help complaining, "Wait, you're using us as guinea pigs?"
"Don't put it so harshly." Jason raised his eyebrows, his gaze fixed directly on Richard.
Richard hesitated several times but couldn't succeed.
He put the spare rib in Ryan's bowl, "You try it first!"
Ryan stayed silent, Ryan smiled, Ryan didn't move.
Watching them pass it around, then looking at the food that was getting cold, I frowned.
If it got any colder, it wouldn't be edible.
The thought of wasting food made me uncomfortable.
So I picked up a piece of spare rib myself and put it in my mouth.
Everyone's eyes focused on me.
Richard stared at me wide-eyed, seemingly not expecting me to actually eat it.
"How is it? What does it taste like?"
I chewed and swallowed calmly, then nodded, "Not bad, it just doesn't look very appetizing."
As I spoke, I picked up a piece for Richard and sincerely suggested, "Try it, it really tastes pretty good."
"Really?" Richard looked at me suspiciously.
Ryan also picked up a piece of spare rib at this moment.
Jason raised his eyebrows and asked, "How does it taste?"
"Aside from a bit too much salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, and a bit too little sugar, there's nothing else wrong with it," Ryan answered calmly.
Hearing this, I couldn't help but laugh quietly.
Richard didn't catch on either. After hearing Ryan say this, he nodded along, "Your cooking is good, I won't trust anyone else, just you!"
With that, he gently bit off a small piece of meat.
"You guys!" The next moment, he widened his eyes and looked at Ryan and me with an unpleasant expression.
"What's wrong? Doesn't Jason's personally cooked food taste good?" I blinked and asked with feigned confusion.
Richard couldn't bring himself to say it.
But Jason was now looking at me sadly, "Sue, you're my person, how can you serve food to another man? I'm so hurt."
I looked at him speechlessly.
"Then you eat too." I casually picked up two pieces for Jason as well.
Only then was Jason satisfied.
His eyes bright, he looked at me, "You didn't deny it just now, I knew you'd already accepted in your heart that we're a couple!"
I glared at him.
But what kind of person was Jason?
Completely unfazed, he happily took a bite.
Then his expression changed, and he reached for my bowl, "It's terrible, don't eat it. I'll take you out to eat."
Richard looked at Jason, then turned to Ryan and said, "See? He doesn't care about us at all; he just can't bear to let Sue eat this stuff."
"Would you rather have him care about you?" Ryan said with a half-smile.
Richard thought about it and shivered all over, shaking his head vigorously, "Never mind, just thinking about it gives me goosebumps."
I blocked Jason's hand, "Let's just eat at home; going out is too much trouble."
I had to work tomorrow, and I didn't want to make things complicated today.
Jason said, "But this is terrible."
I took another bite and shook my head very sincerely, "Actually, I think it's fine."
As long as there was food and I could eat my fill, I was already very satisfied.
Whether it tasted good or not wasn't really important.
But hearing my words, the way Jason looked at me changed.
He seemed to feel sorry for me.
Looking around and finding the other two seemed somewhat reluctant, I stood up helplessly, "There should be leftover ingredients in the kitchen, right?"
"Yes." Linda nodded.
"Then let me cook. We'll just have something simple," I said as I walked into the kitchen.
Linda followed closely behind to help me.
With Linda's help, it took me half an hour to prepare three dishes and a soup.
The rich aroma drifted out from the kitchen, and I clearly heard Richard's voice, "Smells so good!"
As soon as the food was brought out, Richard couldn't wait to grab some.
Jason stopped him, "What's the rush?"
"Well, it's because I'm hungry..." Richard muttered quietly but still put down his fork as told.
Only after I sat down did Jason say, "Eat."
At these words, Richard eagerly picked up his fork.
The moment the food entered his mouth, his eyes widened, "Delicious! You're such a good cook!"
Even Ryan, whose expressions weren't usually very obvious, looked full of appreciation.
I smiled, "I'm glad you like it."
Jason first served me plenty of food before he started eating leisurely himself.
Whenever he saw my bowl was running low on dishes, Jason would immediately serve me more.
At first, I didn't quite understand why.
Until I saw Richard's eating speed.
If Jason didn't serve me food, I might end up eating only plain rice in the end.
All the dishes would be gone.
I stood up to clear the table, but Linda stopped me first, "I'll clean up, you go chat with Mr. Jason."
I came out of the kitchen.
I looked around but didn't see Jason, and even Ryan and Richard were nowhere to be found.
Jessica hadn't come back yet, so I wandered to the courtyard behind Old Cooper Mansion.
The courtyard was beautifully decorated.
Walking along the corridor to the pavilion, I discovered there were quite a few fish here.
Colorful koi were swimming leisurely in the water.
I sat by the edge, mesmerized for a moment.
"Want to feed the fish? There's fish food here." Jason's voice sounded behind me, and then a box of fish food was placed in my hand.
