Herman didn’t even bring the car to a proper stop in front of the bridal store before Nikki opened the door. “Jeez Nikki wait for Herman to stop.” “I’m excited.” “Me to but you don’t see me jumping out of a moving car.” “Mom please the car was already in park.” Oh, we are starting like this, wonderful. When we walked into the store an assistant came to us, “Good afternoon can I help you?” “Yes, my mom is here to get a wedding dress.” Nikki said barely standing still. “Sorry she’s just excited Nicol Green I have an appointment.” “Yes, off course Miss Green. Follow me.” We walked after the lady to the dressing rooms where a rail of dresses was waiting for me. “We looked at the style you wear on line and came up with a few we thought you might like if there is nothing here, we can obviously look at the other dresses. We just thought we can start here or do you have something in mind?” “Oh no I have nothing in mind, thank you very much.” Nikki walked to the dress with the biggest skirt and took it out, “Mom this one you would look like a princess.” “Can I first look at all the dresses Nikki?” “Yes, but fit this one first.” She insisted. “Nikki calm down let me first at least look at the rest.” “Fine.” Nikki said going to sit on the chair, clearly, she made up her mind of which dress she wanted me to wear.
I took out a Mermaid cut dress it was very pretty, but I think my belly will show if I wear a dress as tight fitting as this, but I wanted to fit it in any case just maybe you can’t see I’m pregnant. Then there was an A-Line wedding dress that was so soft it showed a bit of cleavage but with this dress you wouldn’t even see my belly except for that perk I loved the dress. “Let’s start with the Mermaid cut.” I told the assistant. She came with me into the dressing room and helped me into the dress, it struggled to close at the back but the assistant was quick to say, “We can alter that in no time, don’t worry about it.” I walked out to show Nikki, she pulled up her nose but did say “Turn around mom.” I turned for her and then I saw myself in the other mirror and saw how my belly looked I looked bloated, yes, I’m not bloated but pregnant but still I don’t want my photos to show I was pregnant. “No not this one.” I said before Nikki could say anything. “I agree, I bet you mom you going to choose the one that I picked.” “We’ll see.”
I went back and the assistant helped me out of the dress and into the A-line dress. I must say when I looked at my self in the mirror I was in love, the dress fitted perfectly and the lace was perfection, the assistant did say the lace came from Paris, so there was that. I don’t know how I’m going to tell Nikki I found my dress, I really really loved this one. When I came out of the dressing room even her jaw dropped. “Mom, you look beautiful.” She said getting up from the chair. “You really think so.” “I really do; I thought this dress is going to be to plain.” Nikki said. “Really Nikki?” I asked confused because with all this lace this dress is nothing but plain and the train it was absolutely stunning. “I want you to look like a princess that’s why I like the other dress.” “Okay I’ll fit the other dress but I really like this one.” “Okay we’ll see.” Nikki said smiling at me. I went back into the dressing room got out of the A-line dress and got into the dress Nikki loved since the moment she saw it. The assistant said it was a Vera Wang, clearly Nikki has her father’s taste when it comes to price tags. I must admit it was a gown with a modified sweetheart neckline a strapless bodice, and it had a soft pink ribbon accenting the waist. The dress has a full voluminous skirt made of tulle and the corset style bodice had delicate lace details.
When I had the dress on finally, I must admit I felt like a princess and the fact that the ribbon was pink was clearly a sign that this dress was made for me. I was torn in two the A-line dress or this master piece of Vera Wang. I called out “Are you ready Nikki?” “Yes, come out come out.” When I walked out of the dressing room she jumped up “Yes yes yes I knew this would be the one, look mom.” She showed me her phone “it’s almost the same dress as what Kate Hudson wore in Bridal Wars.” “Oh, it is almost exactly the same.” I said stunned. “I love it mom you have to get this one. You just have to.” “I love this dress angel but I love the other one to.” “Mom, please you need to get this one then it would almost be the same as in the movie. I look at the assistant and asked “can you keep these two until Monday I’ll even put a deposit on both if I have to?” “It’s not necessary Miss Green I’ll keep both until Monday for you. What time?” “After 4 pm please.” “No problem I’ll make the booking. The great thing of the two dresses you chose there is no need for any alterations.” “That is wonderful because the wedding is in 3 weeks’ time.” “Oh goodness then you are very lucky you found this Vera Wang they are normally the first to go.” “I am very lucky you are right.” I made sure she put the two dresses in the back and made the appointment in the book before Nikki and I got back in the SUV. “Now we have to look for a dress for you and I still need to ask JP if he’ll be my best man.” “Don’t you need bride’s maids or something like that?” “No, you are my bridesmaid.” “I’m to young mom.” She moaned. “Oh no you are not; don’t you want to stand there in front with me and your dad?” she thought for a little before she said “I do.” And then she laughed at her own joke.
