“What should we do Nicolas?” Geoffrey asked. “Get out and tell them who I am and that I’m on my way to my plane. But first find out who they are.” When Geoffrey got out, I could see the fear in Lesley’s eyes as well as Kevin’s. “It’s going to be okay don’t worry you two we’ve got you.” “You don’t know my husband.” “I’ve seen enough men like him in my life, just be calm.” “Nicolas, they want to inspect the vehicle.” “Fuck no.” I ripped my door open and came face to face with a man a head taller than me, bold with a few scars in his face, he looks like he was carrying a gun. “I’m Mr. Brown. Who are you?” While I was speaking to the guy the other security guys got out of their vehicles and walked towards me, all of them had their hands on their guns even Rika was ready for action. “Who we are is none of your concern.” The bold guy said. “Well, you not searching any of my vehicles if you are not FBI, CIA, DEA, NYPD or any other law enforcement you are not getting in my vehicles.” I said with my chest puffed up I might not be bigger than this man but I’m going to show him I’m not afraid of him. “Well, we are not letting you through until we searched the vehicles.” The bold guy said again.
Nicol got out of the SUV I almost got a heart attack. “What’s taking so long love, you know we need to get to the doctor as soon as possible, she won’t live much longer.” Okay let’s go with this story. “I’m sorry love it’s just these men want to search our vehicles.” “Oh God please no you will kill our child with your germs just let us go, what are you in any case DEA because we have no drugs with us, FBI? Who gives you the right to keep us from our plane?” Nicol stepped forward and pushed her finger in the middle of big bold guys chest. “My child is busy dying and you want to search our cars, what kind of monsters are you?” She said pushing him and crying. The big bold guy looked at Nicol and then at me. “Can I at least see some Identification?” “I want to argue with you because my child needs to get to the plane as soon as possible and I want to tell you you have no right to anything but here look.” He showed my card to the others and all of them nodded. “Okay you can go.” “Why thank you very much.” I said sarcastically. Nicol got back into the car and I followed her.
“That was dangerous Nicol.” “Well what else would we have done?” “Well now someone has to fly with them and carry Kevin. Let me make a call.” I called Rika that was in the car behind me with one of the other men. “Nicolas?” “Can I speak to the guy next to you.” “Yes, off course.” She gave the phone to the guy next to her and when he answered I could hear he was old military. “Sir what can I do for you?” “Do you have a wife, kids or someone that will be looking for you in the next few days?” “No sir why?” “I need someone to fly with the package and pretend you are a family; they will be keeping an eye on us.” “Sir.” He started “I’ll pay you 500K.” His quiet for a while before he said. “Yes, sir I’m available.” “Thanks.” When I disconnected the call Lesley’s eyes where so wide “You can’t I won’t be able to pay you back or should I say not immediately.” “Lesley don’t worry about it all that is important is that you and Kevin get on that plane safely.” “But it’s too much.” “Please except it.” “I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you?” “You and Kevin stay safe that is all we want.”
When I looked back at Kevin and Nikki, Nikki was holding Kevin’s hand clearly this was affecting him a hell of a lot and I don’t blame him I mean to run away from your own father. We approached the airplane; Rika went to stop on the side of us the men won’t see. The guy I just hired walked to our side “Sir, I’m Johnathan.” “Nice to meet you Johnathan this is Lesley and her son Kevin which you will have to carry the men back there thinks my child is very ill.” “No problem, where should I get off?” I looked at Lesley. “Lesley that is all up to you, when you decide where you want to go Johanthan can go with and make sure the 2 of you are settled or you can drop him at another airport then my pilot can bring him back when he comes back from dropping you two.” “We’ll talk about it on the plane.” Lesley said.
“Nicolas the other SUV’s are moving in this direction.” “Fuck you guys need to leave. Kevin come.” Before Kevin got out of the SUV he gave Nikki a quick kiss on the mouth “I’m going to miss you, Nikki.” “I’m going to miss you to.” She said hugging him. Kevin got out and Johathan picked him up; Nicol grabbed a blanket that was in the car for some reason and threw it over Kevin. “Okay guys go before they get here.” We watched as Lesley, Kevin and Johnanthan disappeared into the plane, as soon as the plane’s doors was closed, Rika and the other men and George and us drove out of the airport like a bat out of hell. We didn’t want them to stop us or they’ll know. As soon as we left the airport premises I looked back. “Thank fuck.” “What?” Nicol asked “We are not being followed I think our plan worked.” “We can only be sure when Johnnathan returns.” Nicol said. “They are in the air sweetheart he won’t get to them now.”
We heard small sniffles coming from the back. “Sweet pea are you okay.” She sniffed again. “Come sit here between your mom and me.” She climbed over the seats and curled into me. I didn’t want to ask what is wrong because that would be a stupid question. So, I just held her. Nicol was holding her had. After a while she pulled away from me and said “I can’t believe he went through all that alone.” “He had his mom sweet pea.” “Yes, but still.” “It’s okay they will be okay.” “How do you know that?” she asked crying again. “I just know sweet pea I just know.”
