Chapter 263 Not Seen as a Man
Elizabeth returned to the Sherman Group and immediately got busy.
For two days straight, she didn't get home until eleven at night.
The company name change required handling business registration, tax matters, and many other procedures, so it would still take time before it officially became Seraphina Enterprises.
Back at home.
Elizabeth leaned back on the sofa, exhausted.
Jacob warmed up some milk and brought it over to Elizabeth resting on the sofa. "Ms. Penrose, here's your milk. I'll be going now."
After all, it was quite late, and he felt awkward staying any longer.
"You've worked hard today too. Go ahead." Elizabeth took the milk and thanked him.
Jacob straightened up, his smile bright. "It's nothing, Ms. Penrose. Get some rest early, you'll be busy again tomorrow."
Elizabeth nodded slightly and watched Jacob leave before slowly drinking her milk.
After finishing the milk, she went to shower and dry her hair.
Even though she was mentally exhausted, she still couldn't feel sleepy.
With no sleep coming at all, Elizabeth had no choice but to lie in bed staring at the ceiling.
Elizabeth lay in bed staring at the ceiling.
Meanwhile, Chris and the others gathered tonight to discuss their strategy.
"Are you guys really willing to just watch the Sherman Group become that whatever Seraphina Enterprises?" Chris asked coldly, his tone full of anger and resentment.
Otha frowned, looking somewhat helpless. "Of course we're not willing, but what can you do? She's not going to easily give up the shares she holds."
A flash of cruelty crossed Chris's eyes as he said coldly, "We can find a way to force her, make her know what we're capable of."
Rocco really wanted to sigh. "Her tactics are even more sophisticated than we imagined."
That woman Elizabeth wasn't stupid.
Chris thought for a moment. "I don't believe she can be on guard all the time. Everyone lets their guard down sometimes. We just need to wait for the opportunity."
He refused to believe otherwise.
The next morning.
Elizabeth came downstairs frowning, feeling somewhat uncomfortable with her dizzy and foggy head.
Her phone rang, and she answered the call.
"Elizabeth." Freya's voice came through the phone.
Elizabeth frowned, not expecting a call from Freya. If she'd known, she wouldn't have answered. "Mrs. Nightingale, what is it?"
Hearing Elizabeth's cold voice, Freya paused, her voice carrying a hint of pleading. "Do you have time recently? Could you come back to Majestic City with me to see your grandmother? Her health isn't good, she can't handle any shocks."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and said coldly, "Sorry, I won't be going."
When you cut ties, you cut them completely.
With that, she hung up without hesitation.
Freya didn't expect Elizabeth to refuse so decisively. Freya felt like she couldn't breathe.
Freya covered her eyes and started crying.
Russell shook his head helplessly. "We can't keep hiding this from Mom forever. When we go to Majestic City this time, let's tell her in person."
"I carried her for ten months and went through so much pain to give birth to her, and she's this heartless? Is Seraphina's situation all my fault? Who told them to make enemies with others?" Freya really felt wronged.
"Madam, please don't cry. The doctor said you need to rest properly." Russell thought about Elizabeth and Timothy's brief marriage and sighed helplessly.
On the other side, after hanging up on Freya, Elizabeth just sat on the sofa trying to clear her head.
Elizabeth heard the doorbell and got up to answer it.
Outside the door, Jacob stood there, holding up the breakfast in his hand, his face wearing a sunny smile. "Ms. Penrose, I heard the breakfast from this place is really good."
Elizabeth took the breakfast bag and glanced at the address printed on it.
This breakfast shop was quite far from here, at least a forty-minute drive.
She said flatly, "Mr. Grant, you don't need to go to such trouble next time."
Jacob shook his head, his smile still bright. "It's no trouble, just a drive."
Elizabeth said, "Thank you."
Jacob scratched his head. The young man, looking like a fresh white poplar, still had youthful energy. "I'm glad Ms. Penrose likes it."
After breakfast, Elizabeth went to the company.
Elizabeth got out of the car and walked into the building.
The company employees who saw her all nodded in greeting. Elizabeth smiled faintly and nodded back at them.
After entering the office, Robbie immediately followed, handing her a document. "Chairwoman Penrose, these are the urgent matters that need handling today."
Elizabeth took the document and carefully looked through it, then looked up at Robbie. "Thank you for your hard work."
She took another document from the desk and handed it to Robbie. "Give this document to Mary. This is the five percent share I promised her earlier. Keep an eye on Maddox's situation at all times."
Robbie nodded and took the document out of the office.
He saw Jacob sitting in his chair spinning around, and helplessly reached out to stop the spinning chair. "How's it going, is the work suitable?"
Jacob stood up and returned the chair to Robbie, smiling. "Of course I'm adapting well. Robbie, are you free at lunch? There's something I want to ask you."
Robbie nodded.
Seeing Robbie nod, Jacob happily returned to his own seat.
At lunchtime, Jacob bought a cup of coffee to bribe Robbie, and the two of them stood in a deserted corner.
Robbie drank his coffee. "Go ahead and ask."
Jacob looked serious and got straight to the point. "Robbie, is Ms. Penrose really divorced?"
A moment of silence.
Robbie really didn't expect Jacob to ask this question.
He glared at Jacob and warned, "You little punk, don't get any ideas. You and Ms. Penrose are impossible."
Jacob smiled. "Okay then."
Robbie threatened, "If you don't listen, I'll suggest that Ms. Penrose fire you."
Jacob gave Robbie a reassuring look, then hung his head. "Robbie, don't worry. Ms. Penrose doesn't even see me as a man right now."
"Does she see you as a woman then?"
"Of course not, she sees me as a boy."
Robbie instinctively glanced downward, then mocked without mercy, "Jacob, good thing you're self-aware."
Jacob was speechless.
Solstice.
Joe first had someone investigate Sarah's background.
Looking it over, there really didn't seem to be any problems.
He took the information to Timothy.
Timothy briefly scanned it and nodded, but still instructed, "Tell Dennis not to let her deliver documents anymore."
Joe nodded and went out to make the call.
At that moment, Dennis in the ElizaTimo Group chairman's office suddenly received this message from Joe.
He thought Sarah must have done something wrong when she delivered documents to Timothy last time.
Dennis pressed the intercom. "Ms. Palmer, come in for a moment."
Sarah walked into the office.
Although she had just joined the company, her abilities were quite good.
Dennis looked at her and said gently, "Ms. Palmer, go report to the testing department in a bit."
Sarah was stunned when she heard this, confused. "Chairman, did I do something wrong?"
Dennis shook his head, still maintaining his smile. "No, Ms. Palmer, you've done very well. This is just a company arrangement. Just go to the testing department."
Although Sarah was confused, she still nodded. "Okay, I understand."
She left Dennis's office, completely puzzled.
Sarah returned to her seat and packed up some personal items, preparing to report to the testing department.
On the way to the testing department, Sarah was still thinking about her work performance during this time.
Why was she suddenly being transferred?
Border Ridge City.
Three days later.
The Sherman Group was officially renamed Seraphina Enterprises.
The new company name had been announced publicly.
Elizabeth looked at the new company name on the official website, and her eyes softened.
Suddenly her phone rang.
Elizabeth looked at the caller ID—it was Eric—and she answered.
Eric on the other end of the phone first greeted her politely, then got straight to the point. "Ms. Penrose, do you know about the Ascend Global Tech Summit? This conference will be held in Solstice next Wednesday."
Hearing the location "Solstice," Elizabeth paused for a moment, then said, "I know about this summit."
Eric said in a low voice on the other end of the phone, "I hope Ms. Penrose can make time to go to Solstice next Wednesday."
He continued, "The ElizaTimo Group's chairman Dennis will be attending this summit. For our cloud project, it would be best to go to Solstice and meet. To complete our cloud project, we need the servers developed by the ElizaTimo Group."
