Chapter 195: Sorin's Ambience
"Which one is yours?" Valerie asked with wonder.
Marianne smiled and pointed up to the third one, the one of the two in the middle of the formation, "that one."
Valerie gasped, seeing how beautiful the island looked.
"The Fates live in the ones at the top." Marianne stated, pointing to the single island at the highest place in the sky.
"Can I see your home?" Valerie asked giddily.
Marianne chuckled, seeing her enthusiasm as she nodded her head. "Of course, that's why I brought you here, darling."
Valerie felt excited to see more of the islands from above, seeing as they weren't visible from where she was standing.
The place was so beautiful that she had absolute no words to describe it and she couldn't help but wave eagerly when she caught eyes of some of the fair folks watching her.
Marianne chuckled at her antics before she took a step back and waved her hands in the air and Valerie felt her feet lifting off of the ground.
"Woah..." Valerie breathed as Marianne's magic began to levitate her and her mother's grin never lessened as she too began to float in the air.
Marianne used the wind to carry them higher and Valerie's eyes were bright with wonder as she looked around her, seeing more of the fae lands as they got higher.
For as far as she could see, she saw beautiful spring grasslands spreading and all forms of houses were scattered here and there. There was a cluster of glass buildings in the distance and the light from the suns seemed to glimmer from them.
"Those are the shopping squares. The creative hubs." Marianne stated, pointing towards the glass buildings.
The sky was a myriad of shades of blue, almost as if someone had painted it by hand and sparkled it with the flying fair folks and floating wagons.
Valerie felt like she was in paradise.
They came across the height of the first island and Valerie's eyes widened to find a crystal castle built on it with a few smaller homes but mostly, it was filled with greenery and strong fragrances of flowers tickled Valerie's senses.
"That is the palace of the Goddess of spring." Marianne told her with a pleased grin on her face, "and the Goddess of summer." She added.
Valerie could see just from the palace and the theme of the island that their domains had just fused together to create the most beautiful myriad.
"It's stunning." Valerie whispered with awe as she gazed delightfully at the wines covering the crystal palace and the way the sun danced on the surface.
Marianne smiled as they continued to go higher and then came the second island which left Valerie breathless.
Instead of having a palace on it, this one was solely built of water and the water fell into oblivion from it's edges.
And when they came directly on top of it, Valerie gasped when she saw that beneath the surface of water, the most beautiful palace was built with brass and sand and glass. Inside the water were mermen and other small fishes.
"Let me guess, God of the sea?" Valerie asked with a fascinated grin on her lips.
Marianne nodded her head, "Uzekiel." She informed.
Valerie smiled before looking up at the third island that they were now approaching, which she knew to be her mother's.
As they approached her home, Valerie began to see slight glimpses of it and somehow, she was certain that it was the most beautiful one until now.
And she was not wrong.
The island was ethereal.
Covered in snow, the entire island had tall mountains which glimmered like stardust. There was a river of starlight, shimmering as if there were pieces of glass under the surface, and it circled around a magnanimous palace lile a serpent before falling into nothingness from the edge of the island.
The palace was an exact replica of the palace in Escalara, made with marble streaked with crystal and gold.
Valerie saw glass domes and metal spires around the palace towers as Marianne made her magic take them closer to the snowy surface of her island.
The vegetation was scarce, and there were crystalline figurines on the ground, scattered like stars all over the place.
The entire place was fitting for a Moon Goddess and Valerie was surprised beyond measure.
