Chapter 27
“Good morning milady.” Valerie’s quirky voice woke Ava up.from her bed. She already entangled herself with the quilt, looking like a mess.
When Cathrina, Samantha and Valerie saw the view before them, they couldn’t help but to laugh. Ava groaned slightly and opened her eyes.
“Why do you have to come early to wake me up? She asked grumpily, making the girls smile at her cuteness.
As she sat up from the bed, her hair was everywhere. Tangled in knots as always. And there was a visible drool on her two cheeks.
Valerie quickly came to sit beside her. “Seems like someone really enjoyed her sleep. And it’s not early like you thought. It’s past 9am already ma’am.” She said smiling.
“Really?” Ava asked softly as her eyes kept closing. “Can I have a little more time? I promise to wake up soon.” She said sleepily.
“No.” Samantha said firmly. “You have to get up and have your bath milady.”
“Pleaseeeeee.” Ava drawled but Samantha kept a straight face. “Five minutes?” Ava again raised her hands to show the five signs on her hands.
Valerie shook her head at Ava as she was acting too cute and babylike. “Young master is here.” She whispered.
Her voice was a low whisper but no matter how much Ava still felt like sleeping, he eyes shot open instantly. Jumping up from the bed, she quickly ran inside the bathtub in fear, not waiting for the maids.
Cathy and Sam looked at Valeria in shock while she went on laughing at Ava. When Ava found out it was a joke, she looked at Valeria as if she was going to murder her.
“Im so sorry.” Val busted out laughing while Ava looked at her like she’s some steaks that needs to be cut. But it was too late to try and go back to bed. So she allowed the girls to strip her and got inside the bath prepared for her.
All the while, not willing to talk to Val. She could swear she felt her heart speed crazily when she heard his name. Every ounce of sleep vanished from her eyes as she scurried inside of the bathroom in fear.
How could she? Ava thought as she narrowed her eyes at Val, still angry at her. “Why are you still angry?” Val asked, pouting.
“I only did that to make you wake up.” Valeria said but Ava kept looking at her with her eyes narrowed. “But I wasn't lying, you can ask Samantha and Cathy.” Val said.
“Young Master ordered us to help with your bath. Seems like he’s coming to see you.” Val continued.
“Really?” Ava asked. “Why?” She asked again.
“I’m sorry but we are not in the position to know about that. All I know is we are going to be the ones attending to you for a while.” Samantha said.
“Seriously?” Ava asked in surprise. “Luther really asked you guys to be the one attending to me?”
Val nodded her head vigorously. “Of course, we are not lying.” Val said happily. “I’m so happy.” She said. “Me too.” Ava said, smiling at the too excited Valeria.
“Me too." Cathy shouted from the room as she wasn’t in the bathroom with them. Ava and Valeria turned to look at Samantha as she’s the only one that hasn’t talked.
Looking between their faces, “what?” Sam cried out in alarm as the two girls kept staring at her.
“Are you happy or not?” Val asked. “How am I even brought into this?” Sam asked. Valeria has been too mischievous.
“Just say it if you’re happy or not.” Val pestered as she stuck out her tongue to her. “Of course I am.” Sam half screamed at the two girls making them burst out in laughter.
“Common girl, don’t be so untight.” Val said laughing, making Samantha wiggle her nose in mock disgust. “Whatever.” Sam said, rolling her eyes.
“Okay girls, enough of the bickering. I’m feeling cold already.” Ava told them. Soon, they were done with her body care and her food was brought to her making her mouth water from the aroma she was perceiving.
The girls stayed till she was done eating, and they kept chatting and talking here and there. Valeria, doing most of the talk. As they kept talking, they heard a knock at the door and Ava’s heart skipped a bit.
Although, she didn’t show it. She had actually been nervous ever since they told her he was coming to see her. Anxiously, she looked towards the door, as Cathy went to open the door for whoever was knocking.
“Lovely morning to you Miss Ava.” A man who seems to be in his middle age came into their view. Ava thought she had seen the face before but can’t place exactly where.
She bowed her head slightly back in response to his greetings. “It’s a week already. Are you ready to get your cast removed?” The man said. “I’m doctor Martens by the way. I treated that.” He said pointing his hands towards her cast.
“Oh! Dr Martens.” She said finally remembering his face. Before she fell totally unconscious that night, she saw his face.
“Yes.” He answered. “ Mr Herald was already informed about my arrival. You need not to worry.” He said.
Dropping his bag beside her on the bed, he took hold of her hand and began to remove the cast placed on it slowly.
Because Ava had never experienced a cast being removed before, she felt it was going to be painful so she shut her eyes in anticipation which made Martens to chuckle lightly.
“You don’t need to shut your eyes.” He told her but still she didn’t listen. The girls stood aside and watched with
great interest as the doctor started removing the cast.
“There! You have your hands back.” The doctor said, tapping her hands lighty. Ava shot her eyes open in surprise. “So fast?” She asked as she quickly took a look at her once cast hand.
She didn’t think the process would be that easy and fast. “Thank you so much.” She said bowing her hand slightly in appreciation.
“You’re welcome.” The doctor responded, smiling back at her. “I better take my leave now.” He said and bidded her goodbye.
“Bye.” She waved back at him and watched as he went out through the door. Immediately the door was closed, she jumped in excitement.
“Let me touch you with my hands girls.” She said playfully as she couldn’t believe her hand was back to its normal self. No discomfort anymore.
They continued cheering happily unknown to them, Luther was already in the room. Clearing his throat slightly, he managed to draw their attention to him.
They all gasped immediately when they saw Luther in the room. The girls knew better than to stay in the room. Hastily, they left the room leaving Ava alone with Luther.
“Hi.” He said as he took his seat opposite her. “Hi.” Ava replied back, looking everywhere else but at Luther.
“Your arm?” He asked.
“Uhn?”
“How’s your hand now?” He asked again.
“Oh! It’s fine now. Thank you.” She said and genuinely smiled at him in appreciation.
“I’m glad you’re all dressed and set. We are going out.” Luther told her.
“Uhn?” She asked, confused. “Where?” she asked again.
“You will get to know soon. I’ll be right back. Take a moment to get set.” he said, to which Ava got more confused.
