Chapter 61 Chapter 61
“I’ll miss you.”
I could only swallow as I watched his back as he hurried away, with Roen following him. If Doctor Apolinaris hadn’t suddenly squealed on the other end of the line, I probably would’ve forgotten that I was even on the phone.
“Was that your hubby? Ackkk! Mr. Lavarre is actually so sweet! I thought he was just cold and distant in photos. It’s really different in person. When will I get mine, Doc?”
I couldn’t help but laugh because I didn’t even know how to answer her.
“Oh my, Doc? Is what I’m hearing real? You’re laughing? My God! So Doctor Jade actually knows how to laugh. What kind of ritual is a businessman doing to you to make you that happy?”
“H-huh? Ah… um, nothing. I’ll just wait for the location, time, and date, okay?”
“Sure, Doc. See you!”
Good thing, Doc Apolinaris didn’t tease me any further. Because I would rather not be rude and suddenly end the call if she kept prying.
I stood up when I heard the sound of a car engine. From the balcony, I saw Hendeix glance once more from where I was standing, then wave while smiling.
“I won’t see him again the whole day,” I whispered as he finally disappeared from my sight.
“Good morning, Miss Jade,” Roan greeted; she had apparently been standing behind me for a while.
“Good morning.”
“Your car will be here an hour later. For now, your breakfast is served in the dining room downstairs while your bath is warm and ready. Whichever you’d like to do first, you can tell me,” she said, full of professionalism and smiling.
“I think I’ll eat first,” I replied because I was already feeling hungry. Oh right, I also hadn’t eaten last night because when I woke up, Hendeix and I were sharing a different kind of meal. I needed to fill myself up because later, when he gets home, he might plow me again. I need strength. I need to make it up to him! I can’t fall asleep on him again!
“All right, Miss Jade. Come with me.”
I followed Roan, and I almost drooled at the amount of food laid out on the table. I sat down, and she placed a napkin over my lap.
“How about you? Have you eaten already, Roan?”
“You don’t have to worry about me, Miss Jade,” she answered before setting a hot black coffee on my right.
“Are you sure you don’t want to eat with me? I can’t finish all of this. Come on, don’t be shy. Eat with me. I don’t want to eat alone.”
“Then I’ll tell Mr. Lavarre to eat with you next time.”
“No? Don’t be sarcastic with me, Roan. You see, it’s just the two of us here in the Sky Villa. Are we really going to eat separately?”
“A server should not eat together with the boss.”
“Well, I am not your boss, Roan,” I said firmly.
“But you are the wife of our boss, Miss Jade. Please respect my position, as I also respect the boundaries I should not cross.”
I could only sigh because there was nothing I could do. He’s even more stubborn than Hendeix. I can still coax Hendeix, while her? Nothing at all. Her heart and principles must be made of hollow blocks.
“All right. I’ll just eat then.”
I sipped the soup that had been prepared for me. I think it was asparagus. There was also bread and butter, which I ate as well. There wasn’t anything too heavy prepared, so my stomach wasn’t shocked. It seems they also know what I prefer, because I’m not sloppy when it comes to eating. As a doctor, I monitor what I intake. Well, except for alcohol. But it’s been about a week since I last drank, right? A miracle.
After I finished eating, I took a shower and changed clothes. The car arrived right on time, so I went through my things there.
“You’re the one I’ll be using to go to the mountains, so you better behave, okay, baby? I’ll be in big trouble with Hendeix if something happens to us. Doctor Apolinaris already sent the location, and I forwarded it to Hendeix so he’d know, but he hasn’t replied yet. He’s probably busy. I’ll talk to him again later. Anywayyy, I’ll have you car-washed today! Do you want that?” I said with a smile as I talked to my car. After my relationship with my ex, it was the next one I held onto. This one would surely sulk if I didn’t properly say goodbye. The next medical mission will serve as our last date.
“Where are you going, Miss Jade?” Roan asked when she noticed me starting the engine.
“I’ll just have it cleaned, including the interior. I’ll also have the engine checked, in case it breaks down.”
