CHAPTER 128
"Wow, that is really a good hit for your age, I hope you join the school team next year when you are eight. I handed her the ball and told them to go play but no so close the the pack house. They ran off talking about how I had not yelled at them for breaking the window. Robert came out of the pack house and stood beside me.
"How many times did dad give us trouble for breaking that window?" He asked.
"To many to count," I laughed. We both went back inside. I called the maintenance guys to come fix the window. Rachel came into the office carrying a bunch of envelopes. I cringed.
"Rachel do we have to do this now?" I asked.
Sho looked around the office.
"Colt, I can see your so very busy" she said sarcastically.
"Alright, you know I hate these things at least we are not hosting this year." I said.
"About that...." Rachel started. But I cut her off.
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" I told her with my Alpha voice.
"Don't try and intimidate me with that tone Colt you know it does not work. I will just tell Sasha no then, and you can deal with the fallout. Forget the rest I'm not going anywhere with you. Stop being an ass." Rachel yelled at me and stormed out of the office. I threw my hands up in the air.
"I can't win." I told Robert.
"Against Rachel, nope your in the doghouse now." Robert laughed.
"None of the children are home, I don’t even want to be apart of the holidays." I groaned.
"How are Tyson and Nancy doing anyway?"
Robert asked.
"I'm not sure they have not called in a few day." I told him. I got up not saying anything to him and went out back stripped and shifted I needed to go for a long run. I needed to fix my mood. We ran along the border sniffing the air as we ran. When I reached the north - west corner I started to smell something strange. I followed the smell the closer I got the more putrid the smell was. I linked Robert where I was and bring warriors. Something was not right. I did not go any further. I waited for the others to show up.
"What the hell is that stench, Robert asked when he reached me.
"Dammed if I know. But I was waiting for you before crossing the border. I don't like the feeling I'm getting." I told him.
"I don't smell wolf or rouges. Robert said.
"Me either, lets go in twos and leave doubling back surrounding the area." I told everyone in a link. When we surrounded the area we found warm ashes. But not anyone around. They must have caught our scent and took off.
"Make sure this fire is out good, then return to your posts." I told the warriors. Robert and I headed back to the pack house. I would double patrol in that area and see if whoever it came back. A week later we still had not figured out who had been there they had camped at two other places just on the other side of the boarders. Rachel was still mad at me. Even after I told her to do whatever she needed to do to help Sasha. Honestly I think she missed the children home for the holidays. I found her down in the family room decorating the tree alone. I went in and picked up some of her fancy decoration and started helping her. She looked at me, then went back to putting another decoration on the tree.
"I remember before we had Quin we would spend days together decorating all the trees in the pack house I miss doing it." I said to her smiling. She looked at me with her eyebrows raised.
"It is true, when the children got old enough, I kind of got pushed out and you and the children had such fun decorating for Santa I was happy to watch." I told her.
"Why did you not say anything." She asked
"I ended up busy with more runaway and homeless children; you all did not seem to miss me. So, I just left it, can you pass me the silver bell, honey? So as I was say I just left it but now the house is empty. Quin is in the Castle with Sasha and their Family, Nancy is in Paris until the spring, and Nella is busy with whatever she is doing. It just does not feel like the holidays. “ I told her hanging the last Christmas ball on the tree. Rachel sat down in a chair.
"You know now that you have said all that your so right, why am I even putting up a tree. Who will look at it. We have to go to the castle to see the grand pups." Rachel said I could here the sadness in her voice.
"I didn't mean to upset you my love, I'm sorry. You and I can sit in here and enjoy it together." I said trying to get her to smile.
Come on let's go work on all the other trees love. And you can tell me what Sasha needs help with." I said taking her into my arms and kissing her lightly.
NANCY'S POV
I woke up early and check to see if my package were going to be delivered today. I had a surprise for Tyson we my not be at home, but we were going to have our own tree. I order decorations off of amazon and handprint kits enough to do all three pups to send home to everyone for Christmas. I got Stella a bracelet that said best friend.
I used the black card my father had given me. A while a go when I was is school, I would pay him back when we got home.
I went down to make coffee, but Ginger was already up and had it made.
"Good morning, Ginger thank you for making coffee," I said as I poured myself a cup.
"Your welcome Nancy, I was hoping we could have a minute to talk." Ginger said quietly.
"Of course, let's sit on the couch. What is on your mind?" I asked. We both sat down and she looked nervous for some reason.
"Nancy my parents are going to visit my aunt and uncle at another pack for the holiday." She said.
