Chapter 16

Vanessa Vargas

I walked to the guards by the elevator.

"Do you know where Spade is?" I asked.

"Casino, playing slaps." He answered.

"Thank you." I smiled, going into the elevator, up to my place.

Then I changed, into the best fucking pant suit that made my tits look amazing.

I put my hair into a ponytail, putting on light makeup and heels without a closed toe as I had my toes done as well, then I began to the elevator.

I admired the gold bracelets bringing out the red color of my nails.

I got to the main floor, walking out of the elevator and behind the receptionist desk since there was a huge line.

"Sorry honey." I told her.

"You're just fine." She smiled and I nodded, going through the double doors where the riot was.

Music blazing, alcohol, smoking, talking.

It was becoming an aesthetic for me.

Even if I partook in none of it.

I walked to the table I saw Spade sitting at, one hand holding cards, the other resting over his crotch area as he was sitting with his legs open, relaxed.

"Sir." I said and he looked up at me, I pulled his card from my top and handed it to him.

"Is that what you bought yesterday?" He asked.

"Yes." I smiled.

I turned to grab a chair but he stopped me, pulling me onto his lap.

I fell with a small gasp, his arm around my waist immediately.

"I'm done boys." He set his hand down.

"This is for big money! You can't just stop because your hoe is here." One stood and I frowned.

Spade laughed.

"My what?" He asked, his hand tightening around me.

"You're bitch."

"Keep my seat warm mia amata." He whispered in my ear, sliding from under me and settling me into the seat.

He walked to the man, pulling a gun from his belt as he held it to the back of his head.

"Stand and walk outside." He ordered and it was merely silent except for the music as he put his hands up, both of them leaving.

"Only a moron would say that to you. Everyone knows your his Ace. That guy must've been new here." One of the guys looked at me and I just sat there.

The doors opened, Spade walking back in, blood spattered along his dress shirt and face.

He took off his coat, wiping his face clean.

He came to me, lifting my chin.

"You alright, Ace?" He inspected my face as if I were the one hurt.

"I'm fine." I nodded.

"Want a drink?" He asked.

I was confused.

"Water?"

I then realized I was a tad shocked and my throat was dry.

"Please." I nodded.

He walked away, tossing his jacket to a guard who took it, leaving immediately to maybe burn it?

He came back with a bottled water.

"Stand." He offered a hand and I stood, he sat, pulling me back down.

He opened it for me before handing it to me.

"What happened to Daphne?" I asked.

"She's still here, just not as much." He answered.

I nodded.

I had questions but had no idea what was appropriate to even ask.

He pushed on my stomach softly so I'd lie back on him.

My head was resting on his shoulder.

"I don't believe that was necessary." I mumbled.

He didn't answer, his hand that was around me on my forehead, smoothing my hair back as he kissed my temple.

"You plan on using the toy again tonight?" He asked.

I shrugged and he chuckled, kissing my cheekbone.

His hand moved, resting on my hip.

"You look absolutely beautiful in this top." He touched my bare stomach where the cloth didn't cover.

"I like it a lot." I answered.

"Let me see the nails." He held his hand out and I set my hand in his.

They were short, almond shape, a deep red.

My toes black, it compliments what I've been wearing lately.

"I also got a pedicure." I lifted my legs.

He looked and hummed.

"Happy?" He asked.

"Yes, thank you." I whispered.

"Qualsiasi cosa per te amore mio."

Anything for you, my love.

I had no idea what he said but I could fall asleep to it. Or get myself off.

Both would be fine.

"Why do you speak it if you know I have no idea what you say?" I asked.

"Because you like it." He answered, bringing my hand to his lips, kissing each knuckle.

I just sat there, letting him do what he wished.

It felt good. Feeling butterflies, not worrying about my next microwave meal, or when bathing could happen.

But I didn't know the side of the man who killed many people.

I only knew what he wanted me to see.

So before anything, I wanted to know i'd be safe without knowing that side of him.
