Chapter 471
Chapter 471
To make someone feel pain, remorse, or guilt, you at least need to make them realize their mistake first.
Only when they truly believe they've done something wrong can they genuinely apologize and feel regret.
But from what she could see now, Domingo didn't think that toying with Savannah's feelings, or even cheating while married, was wrong at all.
His attitude was more like he was proud of it—he thought these girls would "fall in love" with him because of his amazing personal charm.
Sienna let out a breath, "Do you know where Savannah died?"
Domingo's expression froze. His eyebrows knitted together, and his body pulled back slightly in a somewhat guarded and defensive posture.
"How would I know? I already told you I didn't kill her."
Sienna didn't bother arguing with him, "At that hotel, in the very room you two always booked."
Sienna pressed her lips together, "She transferred all her money to her parents, only keeping enough to book the room for one day."
Faced with Sienna's nearly emotional expression, Domingo still looked noncommittal.
Sienna could only slowly shake her head, delivering her final judgment, "If you don't have anything else to explain, we'll file charges with the court based on your statement."
Only then did Domingo show a hint of fear, but Sienna had long lost any sympathy.
"You cheated during your marriage and raped a woman. We'll provide your statement to your wife as well."
At these words, Domingo's eyes went wide, "What right do you have! You're destroying my family!"
Hearing this, even Kelvin couldn't help but laugh coldly, "You destroyed your own family. What does that have to do with the police?"
Kelvin stood up, "When you were cheating on your wife, why didn't you think about your family?"
Before he finished speaking, Kelvin had already pushed back his chair and turned to leave.
Sienna also coldly threw out a line, "When Savannah died, why didn't you think you were destroying someone else's family?"
The two left one after the other. The officers began organizing the records to prepare for prosecution, while Sienna frowned.
She looked at the documents in her hand, rubbing the rough edge of the paper, "Travis, do you know that saying?"
Travis turned his head, looking puzzled, "What saying?"
Sienna's expression turned serious, "Cheating happens either zero times or countless times."
Travis couldn't help teasing, "What, is Kelvin daring to cheat? I'll go beat him up for you!"
"Travis, I'm not talking about him."
Seeing Sienna about to lose it, Travis got serious, "You think this Domingo might have gone after other girls before?"
Sienna nodded, "Look, in such a short time, he switched between two mistresses, and one of them even developed such severe psychological trauma from his put-downs that she chose suicide."
"But this Domingo."
Sienna's tone was icy, "During questioning, I couldn't sense any panic or regret from him at all. If he hadn't had similar experiences before, how could he be so indifferent when facing someone's death?"
As Sienna finished speaking, Travis seemed to suddenly remember something, "There's another thing."
He furrowed his well-shaped brows, "When he raped Savannah, it seemed way too smooth. You know, if it was the first time doing something like that, a normal person would have some hesitation, but he..."
Exactly!
Whether it was Domingo's choices or his subsequent actions, everything seemed like he was already very familiar with the process. He could easily manipulate a girl, not to mention hiding his whereabouts from his wife and child at the same time.
Thinking of this, Sienna suddenly looked up, "We need to dig deeper."
Her expression was extremely cold, "Investigate Domingo's past right now, see if he's done similar things to other women."
According to normal sentencing for rape, Domingo's sentence should be three to ten years.
But for Sienna, who had personally examined Savannah's body, such a sentence clearly wasn't satisfying.
Travis naturally understood what she meant. The man paused briefly, "Now we have the previous girl and Savannah. If Domingo has a prior record, that should be enough for a harsher sentence."
Sienna laughed coldly, "I can't accept a sentence of 'at most ten years.' If we're prosecuting Domingo, it should be 'at least ten years.'"
Faced with Sienna's tough attitude, Travis nodded, "Dr. Taylor has spoken—how could we let this Domingo get away with it?"
With those words, the entire police station sprang into action following Sienna's order.
Kelvin stood to the side, taking it all in.
Soon, information related to Domingo was placed on Sienna's desk.
Sienna glanced down, and her expression changed.
"Business contacts?"
Travis looked over and nodded casually, "We did find Domingo's business contacts, but we checked them out and found they have nothing to do with this case."
As he spoke, Travis reached out and flipped a page in Sienna's documents, "Look at the next part. That's the women Domingo has been in contact with. We found several who very likely suffered from Domingo's abuse."
Sienna smiled, "Let's make sure he spends the rest of his life in prison!"
Travis gave her a thumbs up.
After the case wrapped up, New Year's was approaching. Kelvin and Sienna both started taking time off and barely went to the station.
But with nothing to do, Simon was getting restless again, staring at the dusty food cart in the warehouse deep in thought. Chris's heart jumped when he saw this, and he immediately started thinking of solutions.
Emerald City was especially cold this year, and Simon's health wasn't good. Sienna wouldn't even let him go to the company, so if he set up a stall at the police station entrance, Sienna would scold him again.
Just then, Rhett came to Emerald City on business. Simon sent Chris to host him, and before leaving, Rhett extended an invitation, saying he wanted to go to Thalassia, and if Chris and Simon were free, they could join him. He'd cover the expenses.
Sienna naturally had no objection and sent them all to Thalassia.
It was warm and sunny there, with flowers blooming—staying there would be good for Simon's health.
But on New Year's Day, while Kelvin was cooking in the kitchen, there was a commotion outside. Simon and Chris had returned.
After just a few days?
He went out to greet them, "Why didn't you stay in Thalassia longer?"
Simon smiled, "Because I promised Sienna we'd spend every holiday together from now on."
Sienna ran over to him with a smile.
The house was lively, full of people.
Even though Simon had been in this kind of atmosphere for so many years, he still loved it.
He hoped the people he loved would always be by his side.
