Chapter 463
Chapter 463
Travis nodded, "That should be it. Are there any other suspicious points in this case?"
"Yes."
Sienna's tone was firm as she forwarded information from her phone to Travis, "Go ask about this note. I also got some other clues at the museum that need a chemical analysis."
While Kelvin hadn't returned yet, Travis didn't have to manage both sides. He quickly nodded, grabbed the photo the officers had worked hard to obtain, and headed into the interrogation room.
Meanwhile, Sienna carefully placed the mummy bandage fragment she'd brought back into the testing equipment.
Watching the numbers on the device jump around, Sienna slowly exhaled.
Soon, a long string of complicated chemical compound names appeared on the display screen.
Sterling had just started to look confused when she turned and saw that Sienna's expression didn't look good.
"Dr. Taylor?"
Sterling almost instinctively lowered her voice, but Sienna seemed not to hear her at all, her eyes fixed on the complex text on the screen.
Even in death, she would never forget this complicated chemical formula.
Because this was something the previous Q had researched—this poison actually made it into the world!
Sterling watched helplessly as Sienna turned and rushed out of the lab like the wind.
"Travis!"
Sienna's tone was urgent, showing none of her usual calm and rationality when working cases.
Even Travis was startled and quickly stood up, "What's wrong, Dr. Taylor? What happened?"
Sienna exhaled, trying hard to steady her breathing, "That Kimball—how much does he actually know about mummies?"
At this question, Travis sighed, "He's just a maintenance worker who graduated from technical school. He's never dealt with anything related to mummies. According to Kimball's statement, he went after the mummy because someone told him it was valuable."
Sienna exhaled.
She trusted Travis's interrogation and judgment, but this also proved that in this case, Kimball was just a small pawn.
He had no idea what the whole case was about, or even what the mummy meant.
Thinking this, Sienna pressed her lips together, her mind racing, "Then who told him to steal the mummy?"
Travis hadn't overlooked these minor details either. As soon as Sienna asked, he answered quickly, "He said he met them on Antique Street. They were heavily covered up—couldn't see their face."
Antique Street, Antique Street again.
Sienna furrowed her delicate brows, "Come with me to check the surveillance footage from Antique Street. There's something not simple about this place."
When a location appeared twice in a case, Travis naturally noticed something was off too.
Antique Street was a mixed bag, and the surveillance camera angles were all over the place.
The two quickly reviewed all the surveillance footage from every corner of the street but couldn't find any suspicious person matching Kimball's description.
Travis frowned, "Is it possible they chose to disguise themselves?"
"Hard to say."
Sienna shook her head, "The surveillance coverage on Antique Street isn't complete. Let's go ask around at the shops and see if there are any other leads."
Travis had no objections. The two split up and quickly questioned all the regular vendors on Antique Street.
When they met up in the middle of Antique Street, Travis shook his head.
But Sienna lowered her voice, "The owner of the porcelain shop over there has seen someone like this."
The two quickly found an empty alley, and only then did Sienna explain, "According to the owner, the person caught his attention because their outfit was too strange. But on Antique Street, there are plenty of people covering their faces, so he couldn't be sure."
Travis nodded.
After all, Antique Street was full of all kinds of people, and many had goods whose origins couldn't be closely examined.
In that environment, it was understandable for buyers and sellers to cover their faces during transactions.
But then Sienna dropped a bombshell, "But the owner said the suspicious person he saw lives in the apartment complex up ahead."
The apartment complex up ahead?
Following Sienna's gesture, Travis's eyes widened in shock, "Isn't that Kimball's address?"
Sienna nodded, her expression serious, "I can reasonably guess that this person very likely approached Kimball because of the mummy."
She continued, her tone cold, "He needed the mummy, and he needed a disposable pawn who could access it."
"Kimball was perfect—in debt, gambling addiction, plus his identity as a maintenance worker and Marlon's son."
At this point, Sienna gave a cold laugh, "I don't believe he could coincidentally discover his relationship with Marlon. Someone must have been pulling strings behind the scenes."
This was almost a certainty.
Based on their interactions with Kimball, while his values were somewhat twisted, he definitely wasn't the type of meticulous criminal who could pull off a high-IQ crime.
Given his way of thinking, even if he heard about Marlon's hometown, he'd most likely just treat it as interesting gossip.
For someone like that to investigate an unfamiliar security guard and easily get the answers he wanted—the whole thing reeked of something wrong.
Travis clearly understood this too. He nodded and suggested quietly, "We don't know where they are now. If we're not afraid of tipping them off, why don't we go up and take a look."
Sienna said coldly, "Tipping them off? From the moment Kimball was arrested, this person probably already got the news. The snake's already been startled. If we don't act quickly, we might not even catch a glimpse of its tail."
With those words, Travis understood what Sienna meant.
The two quickly left the alley and headed straight for the neighborhood committee office.
Just then, a very familiar voice called out from behind.
"Sienna, you tracked it here too?"
Kelvin's steps were steady, but with his height advantage, he reached Sienna's side in just a few strides.
Sienna nodded, "Haven't had time to share information with you yet."
"No problem, let's go together."
This kind of old neighborhood had no unified property management, but as the community committee, they knew the transient residents in the complex quite well—especially a strangely dressed adult male.
As soon as Sienna described him, a woman stood up, "I know where he is!"
She glanced at the police uniforms they were wearing, "I knew he was no good! A man all covered up like that—what decent person needs to hide their face!"
She came around from behind the desk.
"Come on, I'll take you up there."
