Chapter 12: Disgust

Selena's POV

“Wait! Mira! Wait for me!” I grabbed the young lady's wrist to stop her from running away from me.

I pulled her to face me and I was shocked to see a red mark on her cheek. She looked away to cover it up, but I halted her. I look into her face with pity, especially since her cheek was swollen like she was slapped more than two times.

“Tell me. Did Jessica hurt you?” I asked.

She removed my hand from her and moved away from me, “No. It was an accident. I was cleaning the stove when I accidentally dropped the pot and slipped."

I frowned, "And you got a red mark on your cheek that almost looked like a hand?"

"Yes. And why are you asking? I don't need to explain myself to you, especially since you're not our Luna. So if possible, stay away from me. I don't want to get involved with you!" She replied with almost anger and disgust in his eyes.

“I'm not asking you to explain yourself, Mira. I just want to know who did that to you because even though you lie to my face, I know you were hurt. Are you afraid to tell me the truth?” I questioned.

She scoffed, “Why would I be afraid of you? You are not our Luna, and never will be. Miss Jessica is the rightful owner of that position, so stop pestering me.” Mira turned around and was about to leave when I grabbed her hand to stop her again.

She pulled it violently before slapping me unexpectedly. My head spun to the right after receiving that hard slap from her, but I noticed the shock in her eyes as if she didn't want to hurt me. However, it immediately disappeared and she stood like she didn't regret it.

“You deserve it! You are so annoying! I told you to stay away from me but you are so stubborn,” she said, can't stand properly.

I ignored what she did and answered, “I was just trying to teach you how to stand for yourself, but you are refusing my help.”

“Because I don't need your help. Didn't you hear what I said? You are not our Luna. So why are you still bothering me after I admit the crime I committed?”

“You know the answer to that. You are forced to admit that crime even though you didn't even do it.”

She laughed, “I don't know what you are trying to prove, Selena. Therefore, I don't want to get involved in your life. I don't want people to think we're connected just because you are talking to me, and you are forcing yourself to me.”

I frowned and looked at her with disbelief. I don't know why she is treating me like this. She is looking at me like I'm some sort of a sickness that is dangerous. I moved closer, but she stepped forward.

“Don't come near me.”

“I'm just trying to protect you. You know to yourself that you didn't do anything bad, but you admit the crime it didn't even do just because you are terrified of Jessica. I told you I will have your back!” I'm trying to convince her but instead she replied with a mocking laugh.

She shook her head before wiping her eyes like tears came out on it. “Are you trying to be funny? Why would I need to be saved? I don't need your protection. As long as I'm in Alpha Kael's territory, I'm protected. You don't know me, so don't talk to me as if you know me.”

“I'm just trying to be your friend and—” she cut me off.

“I don't want you to be my friend. I don't need a friend, not even you. You are disgusting and I don't want to be seen near you!” She yelled. “So, please! Stay away from me and stop pestering me!” After saying those painful words, she ran away before I could answer.

I don't know why I expect much from her. Maybe because I could win her trust, and befriend her. However, I was left heartbroken. I was forcing myself into someone that didn't like me or will never like me. I became a people pleaser, and that was wrong.

My deep thoughts interfered with the clapping. I wiped out the ears that skate my eyes before turning around and wasn't surprised to see Jessica. She was smirking while clapping her hands, after that she moved closer but kept her distance from me.

“Why are you forcing yourself to her? It doesn't mean she's an Omega, you two will get along. Have you forgotten that she is from our pack? No matter what you do, Selena. No one will accept you,” she murmured, pouting and mocking me.

“You hurt her, right? I saw the red on her cheek. You slap her because I stand for her. You were hurting weak people, Jessica.”

She shrugged, “As long as no one wants you here and no one would believe you, you will not have proof to prove that I hurt Mira.”

I clench my fist, “This is not the end. I will stand for those who are weak enough to stand for themselves, and I will make sure you will regret hurting them.”

“How? You don't even belong here, Selena.”

“I don't need to. I have so much experience, Jessica. An experience that you never had because you grew up with a golden spoon on your tongue.” I stepped closer and murmured, “Don't forget that Alpha Kael is on my side. But don't worry, I will never use him against you. I will just prove to you that even though no one wants me to be the Luna of this pack, I can be the better Leader who will support the Alpha.”

“You!” She gritted his teeth.

“I once was a weak she-wolf. Everyone called me curse for killing my mother a childbirth, disgust me for staying alive, lock me up to iron cage and torture me until their satisfied. But my weak era is done because it's time to rise from the dirt, and I will bring those who will believe in me.”

She snickered, “So you will collect garbage.”

“No. I will gather the people who never received kindness from the Luna they wanted by their Alpha's side. I will be their salvation,” I promise.
