Vanessa's POV
"It feels good to have you in my arms after 3 months" Richard said, pulling me into his body.
It's been 3 months already?
"You mean you let someone come in between us for 3 months?" I asked.
"Cupcake..."
"I know. She's not just anyone" I said, peeling his hands off my body
So, I couldn't run away from that taunting dinner with the golden couple so I had to just join them. I also couldn't turn Richard's plea to go home with him down even though I wasn't really feeling it. I mean, I didn't like that he couldn't see the truth or see that she was lying
"Babe what are you saying?" Richard stood up from the bed immediately.
"I need to go back home. I have work to do later today." I said, picking up my dress from the ground
Don't worry guys, nothing happened.
"You're acting strange" Richard held my arm turning me around to face him. "You're mad at me cos I let her stay for 3 months?"
"I really need to go, Richard" I struggled to get out of his grip.
"I was only helping out! If anything, you should feel guilty for judging me without knowing the full story. You should feel guilty for snubbing my texts, calls, letters, even my whole existence!" Richard yelled.
"Why didn't you explain it to me?" I asked
"I tried! I tried to explain but you kept running away from it. You refused to listen. What was I supposed to do?" Richard kept on yelling.
Okay, 1 point for him.
"But still. You should've come over to my place instead of sharing the same place with her" I sighed, looking at the door.
"Did you let me in? You and I know I tried, Babe" Richard said, calmly.
"You should've just found somewhere else for her to stay." I whispered, stepping backward
"I know and I'm sorry" He said, walking close to me before engulfing me in a hug.
"I don't think she's saying the truth, babe" I said
"It's fine to think that way but trust me, she's telling the truth." Richard said patting my back.
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"Her eyes"
"That's not a good way of telling honesty" I glared at him
"Her eyes never lies" Richard smiled at me, while saying that sappy line. Ew!
"Babe she's different from the Paula you knew. I doubt if you even knew that other one. Why can't you see this" I held his hands in mine, delicately. Even though his hands were larger than mine, making it hard for mine to wrap around his fully.
"Enough!" Richard yelled, yanking my hand off his.
"You still love her, don't you?" I said, retreating my steps
"You know that's not..."
"You fucking still love her!" I yelled, holding back my tears. "All you do is see what she wants you to see" I poked his chest.
"Vanessa, I don't..."
"You don't want?" I dared him.
"I don't... I don't know what you're saying" He stuttered.
"You're not even sure." I shook my head. "Would you choose me over her?"
"Vanessa..." Richard called out
"Answer me!" I yelled
"I don't know okay? I don't know!" He yelled back.
"That's what I thought" I laughed painfully, grabbing my things and running out of the house.
"Vanessa wait!" He yelled, chasing after me.
"Get away from me! Go and get her back. You both fit!" I said, looking around frantically for Mateo. I ran towards him when I saw him. "Please Mateo, take me back home"
"But..."
"Please Mateo!" I begged, cutting off his excuse
"Vanessa don't do this" Richard said, looking between me and Mateo.
"Let me go, I beg you" I cried into my dress that was in my hand
"Vanessa" he called softly
"I hate you so much" I opened the car door and flew in. I saw Richard not at Mateo before turning his back on us
"Where to, ma'am?" Mateo asked, reviving the engine
"Where makes you happy?" I asked him
"Grave yard" Mateo said, seriously.
"What?" I turned to look at him.
"I'm kidding" He laughed
"That's too expensive. I was starting to think you were a real saddist" I cleaned my tears.
"McDonald's?"
"Nah! Take me to a beach" I smiled at him
"So you can drown yourself? Hell nah!" He shook his head
"Come on, Matty!" I pleaded
"Sir Richard will have my head if anything happens to you" Mateo said
"Richard doesn't own me" I said sternly, getting a little pissed.
"I agree but he likes you" Mateo said.
"How would you know that?" I turned away to face the road.
"Men instinct" He shrugged.
"He couldn't choose me" I said, with quivering lips. Don't cry please.
"He'll come around. It's normal to be confused at first." Mateo looked at me
"Thank you, big guy" I smiled at him in return.
"Don't give him a hard time. You've been giving my boss a hard time every since you came into his life" Mateo joked.
Have I, though?
"Really now? Whose side are you on?" I slapped his arm
"The side of her who pays me" Mateo chuckled.
"You damn right" I laughed
We both didn't say anything for a while. I used that time to reminisce on everything Mateo said.
But he is always taking her side and I find that weird. Its as if she's winning without even trying
"Where are we going Mateo?" I asked, looking at the deserted road.
"We're driving in circles. I want you to think. Besides, your still in his dress and you look funny. After 30 minutes of driving round, I will take you home" Mateo said
"Thank you" I smiled at him, ignoring the fact that he called me funny.
"I like seeing young love bloom" Mateo said
"Okay oldie" I chuckled. I looked at my ringing phone but turned it off when I saw the caller.
"Pick up. You can't leave him worried sick about you" Mateo said.
"I will call him back once I'm home" I said.
"Then text him" Mateo said
"Urghh! Fine" I groaned punching an 'I am fine but I will talk to you later' message
"Good girl" Mateo said.
"What's your love story" I asked him
"You never know what you have until you lose it" was all Mateo said to get me to shut up.
I didn't want to know any more sad shit or I'll be a crying mess again
