Vanessa's POV
I was packing the last pile of dirt from the kitchen when I heard a knock on my door.
I didn't even need to ask who it was because I already knew who it was. I quickly washed my hands and ran to open the door for the holiday people.
"You're early!" I said, picking my sisters bag from her.
"The earlier, the better" Autumn said, strolling into my apartment.
My sister called me few days ago, not minding if I'll turn her down or not, to tell that she'll be coming over for a week break because her husband is on a business trip and she doesn't want to stay at home alone with Joana and how I'd be of great help to her since I'm good with Joana. I couldn't turn it down anyway because of Joana. I need to bond with my girl
So I told Richard and left his place to mine, to set it up. He didn't like the idea of me leaving his place and insisted I bring them over to his place since he has another room to accommodate them. I refused though. I feel he needs break from me and vice versa... Maybe it's just me thinking that way but anyway, I won the argument.
"I'm only letting you stay because of Joana." I said, after coming back from dropping their bags in the room they're going to be staying.
They're lucky this is a 2 bedroom flat.
"Blah blah blah. She's all yours" She said, removing her from the baby carrier.
"Oh, my baby is so big!" I cooed, carrying Jo
"She walks and she babbles a lot. Also she scatters the house now. Those are the things I can remember for now. Have fun, I need to call my husband and please don't barge into my room because you might not want to see the kind of video call we engage in" She smirked. "I bought something sexy and want to show him"
"Please just go!" I rolled my eyes. "What do I do with you, princess" I smiled down at the cute child in front of me
"Nana!" She babbled
"Mama?" I smiled widely. My heart was literally about to blow. "Are you not just a cute girl?"
"Nana!" She slapped the couch repeatedly.
"Okay, I see. It's play time?" I laughed, picking her up. "Let's see the type of toys mummy got you" I started walking to her mother room but remembered. "Or not. I don't want us to be scarred by mummy and daddy"
I dropped her on the rug so she can crawl or creep or whatever. I removed the table that used to be in the living room yesterday because i don't want any mishap.
"Tata!" She yelled, beckoning on me, as if to tell me to come
"Tata!" I mimicked her.
I went into my room quickly to grab the new teddy I bought for her that had this chip in it that sings when you hit it. I just hope she doesn't get scared
I give it to her, gauging her reaction for a while to see if she doesn't like it, but surprisingly, she does. That should buy me some time to go microwave something for Autumn to eat.
"I'm done" Autumn said, strolling out
"Better. Watch over your child while I microwave us something to eat"
"You cooked?"
"Nah, I stole it. It's sweeter when it's stolen. Ever heard that?" I smirked at her.
"Now I'm hearing it. But I'm fucking snitching on you if I see a cop anywhere near here" She smirked, following me
"Gee, thank you sis" I rolled my eyes.
"You're welcome." She opened my fridge. "Wow!"
"Thanks to Richard" I muttered
"What was that?" She threw a handful of grape into her mouth.
"When he heard you guys were coming over, he decided to fill my fridge with healthy food and fruits" I elaborated
"Richard?" She smirked. "What's the deal with that hottie though?"
"Dating"
"Shut up!" She pushed me lightly
"Okay then" I figuratively zipped my lips
"How good is his bed game?" She bit her lips
"Mmmmm hjmmk hjjfd" I said, pretending my lips is still zipped
"You can talk now. I've scattered the zip" She cleaned my mouth dramatically.
"Oh goodness! This is going to be a long week" I face palmed myself
"I'm waiting for your answer, young lady!"
"Are you not a married woman? I fear for Edward sometimes" I served the food on the island
"Nana!" We heard Joana yell
"That's your call" I laughed
"You'd think I'd feel special but then she calls everyone that" Autumn groaned. "Watch this though." She said before clearing her voice. "Baby J! Baby J!!! Over here! Come to mama!" She clapped at Joana who was creeping
"Nana!" She smiled, standing up and taking gentle steps until she got to her mother
Oh, my heart melts!
"She just can't stop being cute!" I cooed
"She's behaving herself because she's just coming today. Wait until it's bathing time tomorrow." Autumn picked Jo up and pecked her
"I won't be surprised. Like mother, like daughter" I laughed sitting down to eat
"What do you mean?" Autumn asked, placing Joana on the island while she sat on the stool.
"She might fall!" I yelled
"I'm waging her with my arms. Chill, Aunty Vanessa" She chuckled
"I don't have the energy to answer to your in-laws and your parents please" I sipped water
"Do I still have parents? Are you sure?"
"I doubt." I laughed, now remembering that I haven't spoken to my parents for a long while now. I called but got no call returned. I tried at least. I think they texted though after 5 days but I didn't bother reading it.
"I think I'm ready to have another child" Autumn said out of the blue
"In few months time Jo will be a year. Hold on a little" I advised
"I can't be celibate for that long"
"Like you're celibate" I scoffed
"What do you mean? Do you have evidence?"
"No but I can swear you're not." I smirked
"I'm celibate if I still use protection" She shrugged
"Tebate!"
"Oh no!" I laughed. "Is she trying to say celibate?"
"Yes, I almost forgot to tell you that she kinda repeats whatever sounds interesting to her. She forget it after sometime though" Autumn laughed
"Oh boy!" I laughed.
"I'm really trying to avoid profanities" She groaned
"I love that!"
"I knew you would love that but I don't really fricking care because if anyone makes me so mad, I'll goddamn use it"
"It'll interest you to know that children learn the bad words first" I smirked
"Tell me about it!" She groaned loudly
"Tebate!" Joana yelled again, making us laugh out loud.
