"Yes, it's possible. But I'm wondering if my brother intentionally disappeared of his own free will. I don't know what kind of situation he was in, but he was definitely preparing to leave. He even wrote a will and signed a valuable document." Dave made another alibi.
Arthur himself listened to it all while nodding his head as if he believed what Dave was saying. Inwardly, he continued to mock and curse his scheming half-brother. It took a lot of effort for him not to get carried away.
"Hopefully there will be good news about your brother soon, Mr. Greens. If this all happened because of someone's foul plan, I hope that person will be rewarded soon," Arthur then said with emphasis.
Eve and Dave almost choked on their own saliva at Arthur's words. However, both of them were able to control themselves well and soon looked normal. If Arthur hadn't experienced that sneaky traitor himself, he probably wouldn't have thought that the two people in front of him had done it.
The atmosphere became a little awkward. Arthur himself was getting sick of dealing with Dave and Eve. Luckily, the waitress came to serve them their food, so the atmosphere thawed out a bit.
It wasn't easy, but Arthur handled himself well. He was able to follow the conversation with Dave and Eve casually, as if he was not the one who was thrown into the abyss by the two people.
"Once again, I thank you, Mr. Wang. Without you, my fiancée would have suffered a loss." Dave expressed his gratitude to Arthur again after they finished eating. The man really seemed like a virtuous man.
"It's nothing. There's no need for that," Arthur said as he reached for the drink in front of him and took a small sip. He was still bothered when Dave referred to Eve as his fiancée. Not out of jealousy, but because it reminded him of how those two had played him raw.
"By the way, your company is a construction company, Mr. Wang?" Eve interrupted.
"Yes, it is. I came here because I wanted to discuss some projects with a client."
"Honey, didn't you say Great Food is planning to build a new factory. Has the construction company been selected?" Eve turned to Dave.
"Not yet. It's just about to go out to tender," Dave said.
Arthur smiled inwardly. Without her fishing, Eve herself was casting the bait to Dave.
"It seems quite good that we can work together in the future, Mr. Greens." Arthur replied casually.
"Yes, that's right. Maybe Mr. Wang's construction company can participate in the tender too, so there is a chance for us to work together."
Arthur nodded. His path to approach the Great Food Company was already slightly open. It was just a matter of widening the entrance a little to make it easier to pass through. And it seemed like the right tool to do that was the woman in front of him right now, Eve.
Dinner came to an end. Dave left his business card with Arthur, and Eve secretly left a piece of tissue with his contact number on it. An asymmetrical smile immediately appeared on Arthur's lips when he saw the line of numbers. Apparently, Eve had taken an undue liking to the newly-acquainted Arthur Wang. It was a very cheap gesture that Arthur never knew he had.
"Mom, it's only fitting that you disliked Eve so much all this time. Turns out she's nothing more than a bitch," Arthur muttered as he crumpled the tissue angrily.
Arthur didn't bother to keep the tissue because he knew Eve's contact number by heart. She had been the most important person in his life, to the point where he had neglected his own mother. Never mind the contact number, Arthur even memorized Eve's shoe number and clothing size. It was amazing how much he loved the cunning girl.
Since his first mission of the system had been successfully completed, tonight he seemed to be able to rest. Arthur quickly returned to his hotel room and changed into more comfortable clothes. While washing his face, he unconsciously observed her face for a moment.
"Even a face like this can make a woman interested? Tsk, seriously." Arthur grumbled resentfully. Arthur Wang's face was indeed quite handsome. But still, to him of course his old face was much more charming.
"What an easy woman. How could I ever think of making her my wife." Arthur grumbled again.
Arthur came out of the bathroom and checked something using his laptop. Moments later, he reached for his cell phone because he was intrigued to call Eve. He wanted to know how she would react.
Arthur entered Eve's contact number into his contact list. Then when the night was a little later, he sent her a message.
'Miss Blooming. It's me, Arthur.'
It didn't take long for the message to be read and Eve replied immediately.
'Just call me Eve.
'Alright, Miss Eve.
'Don't use Miss. Eve instead.'
Arthur laughed mockingly as he read Eve's reply just now.
"Gosh, is she really like this with all men?" Again Arthur could be heard grumbling.
'Yes, Eve. Just call me Arthur.' Arthur typed another reply to Eve after letting out a rough breath.
'Can I call you something other than Arthur? Artha for example. The name Arthur reminds me of something I don't want to remember.'
Arthur frowned slightly as he read the new message.
"You're very brave, Eve. Even with the man you just met, you're already showing this kind of attitude. Did you perhaps think that Arthur Wang could be your next prey?" Arthur muttered in a mocking tone.
'I'm sorry if you mind.' another message came into Arthur's cell phone.
'No, go ahead. But I feel like it's a nickname.' Arthur replied.
'If you think that way, no problem.
'Don't get me wrong, Eve. I don't want to fall in love with a girl who has a fiancé.'
'I don't know if it's right for me to tell you this. But the truth is, I was forced to become Dave's fiancée. My circumstances don't allow me to refuse Dave's wishes, even though I don't like him.'
"Hahahaha!" Arthur laughed very loudly as he read Eve's latest message. It turned out that all this time he had fallen for the seduction of a very venomous female snake.
'Then what do you mean by telling me this? I'm just a strange man you met this afternoon.' Arthur replied back.
There was no further reply from Eve. perhaps she had taken offense to the last message Eve had sent.
However, all of a sudden Arthur's cell phone rang, revealing a surprising call from Eve.
