Chapter 66: My doppelganger

Fiona’s POV.

The news of my death wasn’t compared to how fast the news of my return spread. I always knew she had something in her cupboard, but what could that be? Now I realize the extent they were willing to go just to see me dead, they meant business and yes, they wanted me dead. I walked from side to side in Jeremy’s Living room while I reminisced on the whole drama at Hilton last night.

“Calm down Fiona, we all knew they would come to that, at least Gladys was smart and fast enough to counter their plan, you would have been dead by now,” Jeremy said as he leaned on the wall with the beer in his left hand crossed to his right.

“Fiona you need not worry, at least we got rid of the whole mess, you just have to be very careful around Susan and her company, but this whole thing baffles me, how come they didn't even get to keep you for questioning maybe for a day or two?

Instead, they went for the kill immediately.” Gladys voiced out.

“Well, I am also shocked at that, imagine if that was an actual human being, so she would have died just like that?”

Actually, our plan wasn’t an easy one, there was a lot attached to it. Gladys was a master planner and I give her respect for that, she has saved my life twice now and I owe her a lot.

***Flashback to Yesterday (Before the Birthday party) ***

“Hello, Gladys, are you guys ready? We will soon be on our way.” I spoke calmly from the phone as I prepared from my room.

“Yes, I am almost done, it could take maybe 30 more minutes.”

“What? But you know my presence at the occasion is highly demanded.”

“Fiona, you have to buy time, make sure you don’t leave the premises till you receive my signal, and make sure you aren’t followed by anyone else except your convoy.”

“That’s not going to be an issue, Gladys,” I assured her as I ended the call when the maids entered. This was actually what led to me placing the gold lining at the door and she had it torn, she wouldn’t have done it, I did that on purpose to buy time because Devan had already asked me to be on time.

While the convoy moved I realized her text came through and had the convoy turned, little did they know I had a plan with my team. The vehicle stopped and I turned to Christo who was seated at the other side of the vehicle.

“You all wait here for me; I’ll be right back.”

Christo wanted to come in but I never let that happen, all I needed to do was walk into the house so fast and complete the other side of the ritual which required my blood and also a few hair strands from me.

“Hey, how is it going?” I asked, shutting the door behind me.

“It’s going fine and thank the gods you’re right on time. Hope no one else is coming in here?”

“Not at all, no one’s coming in, it’s just me in here,” I replied.

“Good, now give your hands.”

“What?”

“I said give them to me, we don’t have much time to waste.”

I stretched forth my left hand, she held it and within a twinkle of an eye, she cut through my palm with her sharp blade, not so deep anyway.

“Aww.” I moaned in pain.

“Hey, don’t draw attention here, you have no idea what would happen if those wolves find out I am here with you especially Christo, you know he and I have an unfinished score on his nephew’s death.”

“Hmm, I understand such a risk.”

“Don’t bother much, now, close your eyes.”

“My eyes?”

“Fiona, you ask lots of questions; just do as I say.”

I watched as my blood dropped slowly into a calabash and right there, she unwrapped a molded piece which looked just like a human, made of just clothes, she held my hands and began a quick incantation.

It didn’t take long before I opened my eyes and behold, standing right in front of me was a replica of myself, like I had a twin.

‘Oh my goodness’, I said in awe.

“Fiona, I just did a Replica spell, and trust me, it took me a lot, we have to make sure this whole thing counts, she has only 5 hours to be back, I also made a connection spell in line with that so you would get to monitor her actions while she’s away.”

“So, you mean this other me would be the one to go to the party instead?”

“Yes, there’ll be no need for you to be present, it could complicate issues, all they need is an Isabel, and I told you, I’d give them one, now they have one.”

“But it must interest you to know that she has limited time, in the course of the party, they have no tangible plan to offer, you command her from this point and she does as you say.”

“How would I do that?”

“Hmm, you just say the word, tell her what to do and she’ll be right at it, it wouldn’t take much time, as easy as A, B, C.”

I watched my doppelganger or say, Replica stand so stiff like an electric pole before me without even uttering a word.

“Why isn’t she talking?” I asked, trying to walk around her in circles. And how am I sure she wouldn’t mess things up?”

Gladys laughed. Don’t bother much, all you have to do is talk to her and you’ll see, at this point, it lies not in my power but beyond, the original person would take on from here.”

I turned to her and smiled.

“Isabel, Go and play.”

She turned to me like I just gave her life, she smiled just like I would.

“Playing has always been my thing, our thing.” She left while we both watched her with smiles.
