Chapter 94: The Scapegoat

Chapter 94: The Scapegoat
Officer Marcus took the file, glancing through it, his face darkening. The chat logs were detailed, complete with transfer receipts and an illegal drug order number—a complete chain of evidence.

“Miss Lillian Marlowe,” Officer Marcus closed the folder and looked at the girl slumped on the floor. “Why did you purchase a neural stimulant? And why did you consult on methods to make a dog attack right before the incident?”

Lillian trembled, looking at Sienna. “Sienna… I… save me…”

Sienna’s expression shifted rapidly. She stared at the file, her mind racing. Kevin wouldn't present this unless the evidence was solid. Lillian was finished. If she tried to save her, she would drag herself into prison.

The next second, Sienna suddenly covered her mouth and let out a scream.

“Lillian! How could you do this?!” Sienna pushed Lillian’s hand away, stepping back as if touching something filthy, collapsing into Damian’s arms. Tears instantly streamed down her face.

“Damian… I didn’t know… I thought Pearl was just startled…” Sienna cried. “Lillian complained to me that she hated how Evelyn bullied me and wanted to teach her a lesson… but I scolded her! I thought she was just talking, I didn’t know she was this crazy!”

“You’re lying!” Lillian’s eyes widened. “It was you who told me to…”

“Are you still trying to slander me?!” Sienna cut Lillian off, pulling out her phone and showing screenshots of several chat messages. “These are my messages with Lillian from a few days ago! Look, I kept telling her to calm down and respect Evelyn! She was the one blinded by greed, saying that if Evelyn was ruined, I could take her place, and she would get rich too… It’s my fault, I failed to control my sister, and she made a terrible mistake… Evelyn, I’m so sorry. I apologize for Lillian, please forgive my negligence…”

Lillian knelt on the cold floor, watching the sister who used to care for her now throw her under the bus like a stranger. Those chat screenshots were clearly fakes Sienna had prepared as a backup plan—a perfect scapegoat!

“You bitch!” Lillian exploded. She leaped up, trying to attack Sienna. “It was you! You gave me the drug! You told me to let go of the leash! You said if Evelyn was disfigured, Damian would marry you!”

“Enough!” Damian roared, blocking the enraged Lillian and shoving her hard onto the ground. “Sienna is so kind; how could she have a sister like you? Blaming your own sister after you made a mistake? You are hopeless!”

Damian turned to the police. “Officers, the matter is clear. This is Lillian Marlowe’s personal action, and Sienna is innocent. Sienna is a victim, deceived by her own sister.”

Lillian lay on the cold floor, staring in despair at Damian defending Sienna.

Officer Marcus didn't hesitate anymore. He stepped forward, pulled out handcuffs, and click, secured Lillian’s wrists.

“Lillian Marlowe, you are being arrested for suspicion of criminal assault.” Two officers took hold of Lillian and forcefully dragged her toward the elevator.

“Let me go! I’ll expose her! Sienna is the mastermind!” Lillian struggled fiercely, losing a shoe, her hair a mess. She stared at Sienna, hatred burning in her eyes, her screams echoing down the hall.

“Sienna! You used me! You’ll get what you deserve! You will pay for this! You’ll go to hell!”

The screams faded as the elevator doors closed, and silence returned to the corridor. Sienna leaned against Damian, still trembling slightly, pretending to be traumatized.

“Damian… she’s my only sister… even though she did this, I’m still heartbroken…” She buried her face in his chest, concealing the cold, satisfied smile on her lips.

Damian stroked her back, comforting her softly. “Don’t be sad. It’s not your fault. Her heart is vicious; a little lesson is what she needs. You’re too kind, that’s why she manipulated you.”

Damian then looked up at Evelyn, who remained silently in the wheelchair. There was no guilt in his eyes, only the self-righteousness of having resolved the matter.

“Are you satisfied now?” Damian said coldly. “The person who hurt you has been arrested. Sienna was also tricked. She even apologized to you on Lillian’s behalf. Can you stop looking at her with such hate?”

Evelyn sat in the wheelchair, watching the conclusion of the farce. Her arm throbbed faintly, the seeping blood on the bandage having dried to a dark red. She looked at Damian and Sienna clinging together. One, the blind, protective executioner; the other, the venomous plotter.

Evelyn had seen the flash of cold satisfaction on Sienna’s lips. This whole ordeal, while seemingly resolved, was just a sacrifice of a scapegoat. Sienna walked away unharmed, having earned even more of Damian’s sympathy.

“Satisfied?” Damian asked.

Evelyn’s voice was hoarse. “Damian, do you truly believe that someone fresh out of school has the audacity and connections to buy illegal drugs like that? Without a mastermind, would she attack me out of 'jealousy'?”

“Enough!” Damian interrupted impatiently. “The police have closed the case! The evidence is there! Why do you keep fixating on Sienna? When did you become so petty?” He straightened Sienna’s jacket. “Sienna is traumatized and needs rest. This matter is finished. No one is to speak of it again.”

With that, he wrapped his arm around Sienna and walked back toward the VIP room, not sparing Evelyn another glance.

Only Evelyn, Sophie, and Kevin, who had been standing silently nearby, remained in the hallway.

Sophie was shaking with anger. “That is shameless… those two are utterly shameless! Lillian was just a fall guy!”

Kevin adjusted his glasses, watching Damian’s retreating back, then looking at Evelyn’s pale face.
