Chapter 33

Reena (Clarissa)POV:

I sat at the table, sipping my drink and trying to blend into the background as the drama unfolded before me. Everyone's attention was now focused on the two men, but I guessed people were more interested in Silverton, since he had tried to challenge the Feral Alpha. Fear and worry were written on the people's faces, and they tried not to breathe loudly, as if someone challenging the Feral Alpha could lead to all of their heads rolling on the floor.

Alpha Zion, the host of the party, came to our table immediately, his face etched with panic. "I guess you are unfamiliar to Alpha Dante because he's seeing you for the first time." Everyone could see that the old man was trying to settle the matter amicably.

He turned to the Feral Alpha and said with a smile, "Let me formally introduce you two. This is the billionaire of New York City, Alpha Dante of Starlight pack, and Alpha Dante, this is Alpha Silverton, the recently crowned Alpha of Moonlight pack."

Silverton's expression didn't change, and he wasn't very happy with the way the old man had introduced him either. "Nice to meet you," Silverton said, forced to retreat.

"Same," Alpha Dante replied with a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement.

The old man left shortly after, and the atmosphere returned to normal. All this while, I sat there, sipping my drink and pretending as if I didn't notice what was going on.

Silverton soon turned to leave, but the Feral Alpha's taunting voice stopped him. "Won't you introduce the lady beside you to me?"

As soon as I heard this, I stiffened in my seat and tried to stay less visible. I knew that wherever this topic was heading, it wasn't good. I saw Emily's face brighten up as she heard this, and she raised her shoulder smugly. I guessed she was feeling special because the Feral Alpha had asked who she was.

Silverton looked back with a smile and had his hand on Emily's waist. "She's my Luna."

I felt my chest tighten, and my heart resurfaced, the drink turning bland in my mouth. It wasn't because I felt jealous, but because I remembered that I had once considered these two people mine. How could I have been so foolish to trust these two?

The Feral Alpha's question caught me off guard again. "She's not your mate?"

Both Emily and Silverton's eyes met mine, and I hurriedly looked away. I didn't feel any pain from their betrayal anymore. I felt bland. Emily's eyes were filled with jealousy and irritation. I thought Silverton was really ashamed of what he had done, but he replied hurriedly, "I rejected my mate for her."

This man had really crossed the level of shamelessness. Everyone turned their eyes to him when they heard him, and some clearly didn't hide their annoyance. "Wow, people are trying hard to find their mate, but you rejected yours. Wow!" some of them whispered.

Some people clearly supported what the Feral Alpha had said, because they started murmuring loudly. I couldn't stand this; the people were talking about me loudly. I couldn't stay here any longer.

I stood up and turned to the Feral Alpha. "I want to visit the restroom."

The Feral Alpha nodded with a smile. "Sure."

Beta Leo stood up, his eyes scanning the room before focusing on me. "I'll escort you to the restroom, Reena."

I nodded and followed Beta Leo, trying to escape the drama and intrigue that seemed to follow me everywhere. But I knew that I couldn't hide forever. Eventually, I would have to face the music and deal with the consequences of Silverton's actions.

"Who is this lady? She looks a bit familiar." Silverton's words made me stiffen, and I quickened my pace, following Beta Leo.

"Clarissa!" The Feral Alpha called, making me stop in my steps. My palm started to sweat, and I felt uneasy. Fear and panic were visible all over my face. I gritted my teeth and rubbed my sweaty palms together to hide my nervousness.

I turned around and put on a fake smile on my face, becoming the center of attention once again. "Alpha Silverton said you look familiar!" The Feral Alpha stared at me with a questioning gaze. My mind was in turmoil - what was the Feral Alpha hinting at, and why was Silverton trying to make me a scapegoat? Can he just leave me alone for a while?

I looked at Silverton with a warning smile. "Well, I think you must be wrong because I've never seen you before." I knew this was risky, lying right in the face of the Feral Alpha, but what could I do? Silverton had put me in this situation.

With that, I left their midst to the washroom while Beta Leo waited outside for me. I walked briskly into the washroom and shut the door loudly with a bang. I stood behind the door of the restroom, holding my chest and trying to calm my nerves. I was so scared back then. What if the Feral Alpha had already found out that I was lying? Would he kill me in front of the whole crowd?

The door to the bathroom opened, and there was Emily with her hands folded. "No one can surpass you in lying? How could you deny not knowing Silverton?" I washed my hands with water and ignored her completely. Her eyes turned red because I ignored her, and she came to stand in front of me.

"Don't act high and mighty just because you are the Feral Alpha's toy, you know? And I have to praise you, your habit of seducing men is great. Since when did Silverton reject you that you've found another man?" I turned to her with a mocking smile and replied.

"Of course, a slut will always call other people a slut."

I think she was very angry and couldn't find another word to refute me. "You!"

I turned to her with a mocking smile. "Good dog, don't stay in other people's way. Let me out." I told her because she was blocking the door.

"Never mind, I know that you are still jealous because I snatched Silverton away from you. But Silverton told me to inform you that a waiter will give you a drink, and you must make sure the Feral Alpha drinks it."
