Chapter 263. Raphael’s Possession

Chapter 263. Raphael’s Possession
By the time night fell, Jacintha only returned to the bedroom after coaxing Jack to sleep with his new model still in his hands and changing Emma into her pajamas.

Raphael was already there, sitting on the sofa beside the bed. Her phone lay on the small table next to him.

“You got a message,” he said.

Still toweling her hair dry, Jacintha walked over and picked up the phone. It was from Albert.

“Jacintha, if you’re having a hard time, all you have to do is say the word. No matter when it is, I’ll come to you at once.”

Jacintha froze after reading it. Before she could even process the message, a faint, cold chuckle sounded beside her.

Raphael leaned back against the sofa, his blue eyes darkening. “What could a human like him possibly do for you?”

Jacintha turned to look at him. “There you go again.”

Raphael stood and walked straight over to her. “Am I wrong?”

“He only means well.”

Raphael lowered his head, wrapped both arms around her waist, and pulled her tightly against him as though he refused to let her step away. “I don’t like it.”

As soon as he said it, he buried his face in the curve of her neck. He was so tall, so imposing even at the best of times, and yet now he clung to her like a big dog jealously guarding its owner.

Jacintha was both amused and helpless. “Raphael.”

“Mm.”

“Let go of me for a second. My hair’s still wet.”

“No.”

After answering, he rubbed the tip of his nose lightly against her neck. His soft silver hair brushed her skin, making her shiver with ticklish discomfort, and she could only raise a hand to push at his shoulder. But the more she pushed, the tighter he held her.

“Keep your distance from him.” His voice was low, and there was even a faint note of petulance in it, completely at odds with that face of his. “Don’t let him come near you anymore.”

Jacintha truly had no way to deal with him.

She lifted a hand and poked him in the middle of the forehead. “You really are overbearing.”

Raphael did not deny it. “Yeah.”

“And clingy.”

“Yeah.”

“And unreasonable.”

“Yeah.” He answered, then looked at her without blinking. “So do you agree?”

Jacintha looked at the man in front of her, at that cold face paired with behavior as clingy as glue, and in the end she could only let out a sigh.

“Fine, I know.” She answered perfunctorily. “I’ll keep my distance.”

Raphael still refused to let her go. “You promised.”

“Yeah.”

Only then did he finally look satisfied. He bent down and kissed her again, longer this time, the tip of his tongue brushing softly over her lips as though asking for a little more comfort. Jacintha was kissed until she could barely breathe and could only clutch at his collar.

“That’s enough.” She pushed at his chest, her ears turning hot. “You really are a giant dog.”

Raphael carried her down onto the bed, still unwilling to move away. “That’s right. I’m your dog.”

Jacintha turned her face aside, genuinely unsure whether to laugh or scold him. In the end, she could only let him hold her like that, one hand stroking his hair while she shook her head in helpless resignation.

“All right, all right. Go to sleep.”

Raphael gave a soft hum, but his arms around her never loosened in the slightest. Trapped in the embrace of a giant silver wolf, unable to move at all, Jacintha could only keep stroking him slowly and helplessly, soothing the unease inside him.

That morning, Jacintha left Wulfhart Manor earlier than usual.

Raphael walked her to the car himself. Before she got in, he bent down and straightened her collar for her. He moved slowly, his fingers brushing lightly against the skin of her neck before finally pulling away.

“Your new assistant’s already at the studio,” Raphael said. “Lucas has people stationed there too. If anything happens, call me right away.”

Jacintha laughed. “I’m only going to work, not heading into battle.”

Raphael looked at her without smiling. “Right now, you going out is more stressful for me than a battle.”

She lifted her head to look at him, her eyes carrying a touch of helplessness and tenderness. “Don’t frown like that. It’s just the first day. I’m only going to look over the set, reread the script, and meet the partner company.”

“Will Lucien be there?”

Jacintha knew Raphael was being irrationally jealous again. In his mind, it seemed that any male who got too close to her must have ulterior motives.

Anyone else, faced with a lover’s groundless jealousy over and over again, would probably have found it exhausting—maybe even started a fight over it. But Jacintha was different. She had endless patience when it came to Raphael. She knew he truly loved her, and that being away from her left him feeling insecure. More than that, there was something strangely satisfying in being cared for so possessively, in having someone want to claim her so fiercely. It made her feel loved, and it proved that she was no longer the pitiful person she had once been.

“Lucien is the owner of the partner company, so of course he’ll be there. But don’t worry. In my eyes, you’re the most wonderful man in the world, and the one I love most. No one can compare to you.”

Raphael was visibly delighted by her praise, the corners of his mouth lifting at once. Even then, he questioned her a few more times, and only after she patiently reassured him again and again that she loved him did he finally let the matter go.

Raphael lowered his head and kissed her on the lips. It wasn’t a deep kiss, but it was obvious he had done it on purpose, as if to leave a mark behind. When he pulled away, his eyes remained fixed on her, blazing with love.

“Don’t forget—you’ve got a husband.”

“Raphael.” Jacintha raised a hand and gave his chest a light push. “Do you want me to tattoo your name on my body too?”

“Not a bad idea.” Raphael took her hand and pressed a kiss to her fingertips. “I could even tattoo your face on my body. Then everyone would know you’re mine.”

Jacintha was speechless in the face of Raphael’s madness. So instead of arguing with him any further, she got into the car. As it drove away, she saw that he was still standing there, watching after her like a stone statue waiting for his wife’s return.

The studio was not far from the city center. Because this collaboration had come together in such a rush, Lucien’s side had temporarily moved part of their team here at her request. That alone was enough to show how sincere he was about this partnership.
