Chapter 21 Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Chapter 21
Thalina’s POV

I sat on my bed massaging my feet. The scars of the old blisters lightened but I got new blisters again. I wonder if my feet will be covered with scars at the end of the training.

The silence that I am enjoying was broken when I heard a knock on my door. I crawl out of bed and went towards the door, limping.

Upon opening the door I saw Amelia. Princess Atasha probably sent her here.

“Princess Atasha asks me to hand you the invitation. She will held a party for her upcoming birthday. All high-ranking women from the kingdom will be invited so she wanted you to be on your best behavior,”

I scanned the invitation. She will really host a party.

I brought my gaze back to Amelia and smiled politely. “Don’t worry I won’t do anything that might ruin her party,”

I am not a bitch. We may not be on good terms. Well she probably treat me as her enemy but I won’t ruin her special day. I am not that pity.

“May I asked what’s the theme? I will try to find a dress that I could wear to fit her party,”

“You don’t have to worry about that. Princess Atasha already picked a gown for you,”

I don’t know if I am just overthinking but I have a bad feeling about that. She won’t sabotage me right? That was her party after all. I am sure she wants everything to be perfect.

Despite my hesitation I still nodded. “Tell her I said thank you and if she needed some help with the preparation I am willing to help her,”

Amelia didn’t say anything or even smile. She just walk away. Serving Princess Atasha must have made her like that. She probably adapt Princess Atasha’s attitude.

Instead of making a big deal out of it I shut my door close and went back to my bed.

I already showered and just waiting for sleep to visit me but before that could happen another knock on the door broke my peace.

Now I am starting to get annoyed. Can’t I have a peaceful rest? I spend the whole day being tortured by Princess Atasha and now I can’t even have some alone time.

Despite my annoyance I don’t have any choice but to face whoever was knocking on my door.

As I pulled the door open I saw King Thaddeus standing in front of my room.

“What do you need?” I asked failing to hide the irritation in my tone.

I thought he would be mad for talking to him that way but the asshole just smiled as if he was entertained by the way I greeted him.

“Do you want to go for a walk?”

I looked at him in disbelief. Is he really that clueless? All I did the whole day was to walk around the hall and now he is asking me for another walking session.

“Why? Is there something you want to talk about?” I asked looking at him with evident boredom.

He stared at my face for quite sometime as if he was studying me. A few seconds passed and he finally nodded. “There is something I want to tell you,”

Those words arouses my curiosity. How can I even fall asleep if his words will bug on my mind. I am sure if I decline I will just end up lying on the bed thinking about what he wants to say.

“I will just grabbed my jacket,”

I went to my closet and grabbed the first jacket that I have seen.

I walked towards King Thaddeus still limping.

“Does your feet hurts that bad?”

I glanced at my feet before my eyes found him again. “It’s fine I can endure. It’s not like you will carry me if I said yes anyway,”

That was meant to be a joke but my jaw dropped on the floor when he bent down, his back facing me.

“Hop on. I will give you a piggy back,”

I checked the hallway to see if anyone was around but I am glad that it was empty.

Another gossip would probably spread inside the palace. They will call me names again. I know they are talking behind my back. They are creating rumors about me accusing me of being a witch and manipulating King Thaddeus. If I really have a blood of the witch I will curse them by their ability to speak. I will keep their mouth shut for the rest of their life.

“How long do you plan to make me wait, Thalina?”

I was pulled out from my train of thoughts when King Thaddeus spoke. I just realized that he was still waiting for me to ride on his back.

“Are you sure this is okay? They might gossip that I am taking advantage of your kindness,”

He chuckled and looked at me over his shoulder. “No one thinks I am kind, Thalina. In fact by treating you this way they might see me as a warm hearted king,”

“So you are using me to make your image look good,”

The asshole nodded without hesitation. He didn’t even pretend and tell me that he was doing this because he cares.

“Hop on. My back is already hurting, Thalina,”

I was still hesitant but I know he won’t stop until he gets what he wants. He is a king after all. He will do everything to make things works the way he wanted.

I gently held her shoulder and leaned my chest on his back. I felt his body stiffen for a while while my heart pounded hard against my chest.

Can he hear it? Can he hear how my heart go crazy by our position?

He cleared his throat and held my thighs tightly before he stood straight.

All of a sudden the air feels heavy. I can talk back to him earlier but this time I don’t think I can do it especially now that my chest was squeezed on his back.

“W-Where are we going then?” I asked breaking the silence between us.

He started walking. His hand still gripping my thighs keeping me in place.

“Are you really sure this is okay? What if someone sees us?”

“And?” he asked as if he doesn’t understand what I am trying to imply.

“It’s just doesn’t look good that you are carrying me. You are still the king,”

“And you are my mate. Treating you like this is normal,”

My cheeks burn in an instant. The beating of my heart became even faster. I can’t feel the bond he was talking about but my body instantly reacted by every gestures he made.

“I hope you won’t get offended but do you have a twin?”

He stopped from walking and looked over his shoulder. Our faces was few inches away. He looked at me with furrowed eyebrows and darkened gaze while I am reminding myself to breathe.

“Why?” he sounded mad as if he was offended by my question.

I moved my head away but my gaze was still fixated on his face. “Y-You just a-act different sometimes. T-There are t-times you w-were acting like an a-asshole and then out of the b-blue you will act a-all s-sweet. You c-confused me y-you know,”

His gaze slowly turned gentle and in a fleeting moment I saw guilt crossed his eyes.

He didn’t speak. He focused his gaze back in front of continued walking.

Guilt immediately crawled on my skin. Did I say something that offended him? Was I out of line?

“Did I say something wrong?” I asked in a small voice.

He keep his silence but after a while he finally spoke. “I am scared, Thalina,”

Confusion instantly filled my system. He’s scared? Of what?

“Scared of what?” I asked confusion evident in my tone.

He put me down on a wooden bench while he took the space beside me.

The moon shining brightly on the night sky. It’s beauty was enticing to looked but my gaze was fixated to King Thaddues waiting for an answer.

“I am scared that I might hurt you if I got too close but there are times where I can’t stop myself from getting near. Wolf bond are hard to resist, Thalina,”

I can already hear the beating of my heart. It feels like my chest was enlarged and the beating of my heart became even more faster compared to earlier.

“Like what happened to your first mate? Are you scared that I will end up like her?”

He slowly nodded. His fear became even more evident.

The annoyance that I felt towards him suddenly vanished into thin air. Before I even realized I just found my hands cradling his face.

“I won’t end up like her,"

I have no idea what had gotten into me but all I know is I wanted to removed the fear in his chest. I want him to be fine.

“You won’t know that, Thalina,”

I looked at him straight in the eyes and flashed an assuring smile. “Well you have no idea what will happen to me too. None of us knew what the future holds, King Thaddues,”

“Aren’t you scared that I might end up killing you like what I did to her?”

I should be scared. I should let him go and ran away that was the most logical thing to do but I felt the opposite. Fear didn’t settle on my chest but rather my determination to stay and be with him.

“You should leave now. I am giving you a chance to go far and hide from me while I can still control my wolf,”

“Is that what you wanted to say?”

He nodded, fear still written on his face but instead of taking the chance he was offering I shook my head.

“I will stay. I won’t let my trainings to be wasted. I may appear weak in your eyes but I am strong. I can survive anything…even your uncontrollable wolf’s desire,”
