Chapter 56 I Truly Like Her Sincerely

Chapter 56 I Truly Like Her Sincerely

Yara and Owen remained silent.

True, Flora's two injuries weren't deliberately caused by Ava, but they were closely related to her. Even if they could understand Ava's position, they ultimately couldn't truly feel Flora's pain. The words of forgiveness shouldn't come from them—the decision was in Flora's hands.

In an instant, everyone's eyes fell on Flora.

Ava's lips parted slightly, wanting to say something, but thinking this action might pressure Flora, she quietly closed her mouth again, just keeping her head down waiting for Flora's response.

Robert in the crowd suppressed his impulse, standing quietly without stepping forward.

The hospital room fell silent for a moment.

Flora looked at Ava before her. After a long while, she slowly smiled and gently reassured her: "You don't need to apologize. I chose to save you. These past days you've been taking care of me wholeheartedly, even more attentive than a nurse. I've seen it all and remember it all."

"If anyone's to blame, it's only the kidnappers and Vivian."

"Flora..." Ava pressed her lips together, her eyes reddening, deeply moved.

She knew their relationship had improved quite a bit these past few days, but she had targeted Flora multiple times before, and this time almost caused her permanent disability. Even knowing Ava had truly reformed, Flora probably wouldn't easily forgive and accept her. But she hadn't expected Flora to not only believe she would change, but also remember her efforts and speak up for her.

She had been such a jerk before!

Deeply moved, she couldn't help but want to hug Flora, but mindful of her injured hand, she could only restrain herself and hug Flora's other arm, acting affectionately like a little sister. "Flora, you're so good. From now on, I'll listen to you! I'll be your most loyal sister!"

Flora smiled and patted her head. "I know a bit about medicine. When I fought back, I avoided vital areas. With proper wound treatment and these two days of careful care, it's mostly healed."

Ava pouted, silently disagreeing.

Today the doctor said her injury had worsened, but to avoid worrying them, she swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue, only secretly resolving to work twice as hard taking care of her from now on.

Seeing Ava and Flora getting along so well, Robert had mixed feelings. He stepped forward first, handing the property deed to Flora with a guilty expression: "Flora, Ava has caused you quite a bit of trouble during this time. I really feel bad about it. You must accept this gift."

Flora glanced at the property deed and accepted it without hesitation. "Thank you, Uncle Robert."

The Loomis family always gave generously, and with Robert feeling guilty toward her, this property was surely worth a fortune.

With this in mind, Flora opened the property deed. Seeing it was a riverside mansion worth tens of millions of dollars, her smile deepened.

When this development first went on sale, she had gone to look at it, but due to the high price, she had hesitated several times and couldn't bring herself to buy it. She hadn't expected that after all this, she would still get it.

The other uncles also gave their get-well gifts one after another. Though not as valuable as Robert's, each was worth a considerable sum.

The VIP single room was quite spacious, but with so many Loomis family members, standing there made the large room feel somewhat crowded.

While Flora chatted with people, Alexander quietly walked to the doorway to take a call from his agent.

Just then, Michael and Susan, who were passing by to do physical examinations, saw the room full of people. Seeing everyone well-dressed and distinguished-looking, Susan couldn't help but mutter: "Which patient is this? So blessed to have so many visitors."

These people clearly weren't simple, but they didn't recognize any of them. Michael and Susan didn't know a single one.

Their staring was too obvious. Alexander at the door sensed something unusual and looked over questioningly.

Michael quickly pulled Susan away, afraid of causing trouble.

There were many wealthy people in Emerald City. Though the Smith family was affluent, their assets were nothing compared to truly old-money families.

Michael and Susan left hastily, but Gavin, who had returned, still noticed them.

After confirming they were just passing by, he withdrew his gaze and looked toward Flora's room.

Seeing the door open with quite a few people gathered inside, he paused slightly, hesitating whether to go in.

And in that moment, Ava saw him standing at the door.

"What are you standing there for? Come in." She lifted her chin slightly, her voice soft.

As she spoke, everyone noticed him standing at the door.

Gavin walked into the room under everyone's gaze, calmly greeting each person: "Hello Mr. White, hello Mrs. White, hello uncles."

Ava said politely: "Don't be so formal, be more natural, or people who don't know might think you're here to negotiate a marriage."

She leaned close to Yara, seemingly whispering, but her voice clearly carried throughout the room: "Aunt Yara, you'd better watch out for this guy. He kissed Flora yesterday. I think he likes Flora."

Hearing this, Yara and Owen sneered inwardly.

Wasn't that easy enough to see?

Out of courtesy, Yara pretended to stop Ava, telling her not to meddle in adult affairs as a child.

Ava knew Yara and Owen loved Flora dearly. Even if they weren't entirely satisfied with Flora's choice, they would consider their daughter's feelings and wouldn't deliberately interfere.

But she had another trick up her sleeve!

She hurriedly tugged at Yara's sleeve, urgently reminding her: "Aunt Yara, he's Flora's ex-fiancé."

Ex-fiancé?

He's a member of the Williams family?

This successfully raised Yara and Owen's suspicions. Owen stopped being indirect and asked Gavin straight out: "Do you truly like Flora? Or is it because of the family alliance?"

Gavin looked serious and answered earnestly: "Mr. and Mrs. White, please rest assured, I truly like Flora and want to pursue her. It has nothing to do with the alliance."

Remembering how casual her daughter had been when mentioning the engagement, Yara pressed further: "You were engaged for several years. Why has your relationship developed so slowly until now?"

If it was just a perfunctory business alliance, why would he suddenly pursue Flora?

But if it was genuine, given they were both in their twenties, the relationship shouldn't have only progressed to kissing.

After her pointed question, everyone looked at Gavin with scrutiny and wariness.

On this point, Gavin was completely open and honest: "Flora and I were indeed just putting on an act before."

"But after her identity was revealed and the engagement was broken, by chance, I got to know the real her and was completely attracted to her. I gradually developed real feelings, and recently decided to officially pursue her." His gaze was sincere, his tone frank.

This explanation was barely reasonable.

The Williams family was very powerful, and Gavin had a good reputation in their circles—upright character and outstanding abilities.

But in the White family's eyes, he still wasn't good enough for their daughter.
