Chapter 110: When She Crossed The Line.

Ginnie

The ballroom glittered beneath hundreds of crystal lights.

Everywhere I looked, men and women moved through the room dressed in expensive gowns and tailored suits. These were people whose names carried enough influence to open doors across Bleeding Rose.

Tonight was the launch of the new company Adrian had invested in alongside Varkos.

I walked beside Adrian with my shoulders straight, my fingers resting lightly against his arm.

He looked effortlessly charming in a black tuxedo, carrying the quiet confidence of a man who had never needed anyone's permission to enter a room.

As we made our way through the entrance, I immediately felt the weight of dozens of eyes turning toward us.

The whispers erupted almost instantly.

“Look at her dress.”

“God, that must be worth a fortune.”

“I still can't believe that's Ginnie.”

“Five years ago, she was a human slave working at the Blood Moon Pack Villa,” someone whispered, followed by a quiet laugh. “And now she's married to a billionaire.”

“Life really does change overnight.”

I ignored the stares and whispers,  keeping my expression composed as we continued walking.

Five years ago, I would have lowered my head under this kind of attention. Now, I simply lifted my chin and walked beside Adrian.

“You're quiet,” his voice pulled me back.

I glanced at him.

“So are you.”

“I'm observing.” His eyes swept briefly across the ballroom. “Everything.”

Despite myself, a faint smile curved my lips.

Ever since the night Adrian had collapsed in my arms, something had changed between us.

But it was in a good way.

I quickly pushed the thought away and let my eyes wander across the ballroom.

And then I saw them.

Varkos.

And Kenna.

My breath caught for the briefest second.

They stood at the other end of the ballroom, looking exactly like the powerful couple everyone expected them to be.

Kenna wore a stunning gown that hugged her figure, diamonds resting against her neck. Varkos stood beside her in a perfectly fitted suit.

As though sensing my gaze, his eyes found mine across the ballroom. The moment Kenna noticed me staring, a slow smile appeared on her lips.

She deliberately moved closer to Varkos, sliding one hand through his arm before pressing herself against his side.

The message was clear.

He's mine.

Something cold settled inside at the sight of her possessiveness. I quickly pushed the feeling aside and looked away.

But from the corner of my eye, I could still feel Varkos watching me.

Fine.

If he wanted to watch, then how about I put on the best show for him?

I leaned toward Adrian's ear, my lips brushing lightly against it.

“Everyone is watching us,” I whispered. “We should act like the perfect couple tonight.”

Adrian's eyebrow lifted slightly. Before I could react, his arm slid around my waist, pulling me closer.

“Like this?”

A faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips.

“Perfect.”

Slowly, I turned and met Varkos’s gaze.

Even from across the room, I could feel his stare intensify. His jaw clenched so tightly that I almost expected his teeth to crack.

Without warning, Adrian leaned closer and whispered something in my ear. A laugh escaped me, echoing through the ballroom.

For one dangerous second, I forgot that I was pretending.

I was still lost in that warmth when a commotion near the drinks table caught my attention.

A young human servant was walking toward Varkos and Kenna with a tray of champagne, her hands trembling slightly.

She looked nervous.

Probably new.

She had barely stopped in front of them when the tray slipped from her hands. A glass of champagne crashed against the floor, while another tipped forward and spilled across Kenna’s gown.

The servant froze.

“Oh my God.” She immediately dropped to her knees. “I am so sorry, my lady. I didn't mean to. Please—”

“You worthless human slave!”

Kenna’s voice cracked across the ballroom. The entire room fell silent as she looked down at the champagne staining her expensive gown before slowly lifting her eyes.

The expression on her face made the servant instinctively step backward.

“You dare to ruin my dress.”

“I—I’m sorry.”

“Do you know how much this costs?”

“No, my lady—“

“Of course you don't.” Kenna’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “You could never afford such a dress even in your next life.”

Slowly, she stepped closer, her gaze traveling from head to toe across the servant with open disgust.

“You’ll surely learn your lesson in the dungeon.”

The servant's face went pale.

“No, please!” She pleaded. “Please, my lady. I beg you. It was an accident.”

“I don’t give a fuck—“

“Kenna, that’s enough.”

Varkos’s voice cut through hers before she could finish. She turned toward him, her expression filled with disbelief.

“This human filth has to pay for ruining my dress.”

His eyes hardened.

“Let it go.”

“No!” The word cracked through the ballroom. “I’d rather die than let it go.”

Without another word, Kenna turned and clapped her hands. Two guards immediately stepped forward.

“Take this thing away,” she ordered, pointing toward the servant.

My stomach twisted as I watched the guards move toward her.

I couldn't stand there and watch another human slave be humiliated and punished for something that had clearly been an accident.

Before I realized what I was doing, I stepped forward and positioned myself between the guards and the trembling servant.

“Let her go.”

Kenna’s head snapped toward me.

“Stay out of this.” She spat. “This doesn't concern you.”

“It concerns me when you're about to punish someone for an accident.”

A murmur swept through the ballroom. Every eye turned toward us, as though they were watching some kind of soap opera.

Slowly, Kenna stepped closer until there was barely any space between us.

“Who are you to tell me what to do?”

“I think anyone with basic decency can tell the difference between an accident and an act of defiance.” My jaw tightened. “So you better let it go.”

A humourless laugh escaped Kenna.

“You don't have authority here.”

“And you need to learn that people aren't yours to destroy because you're angry.”

For the briefest moment, something flickered across her face.

Surprise.

Perhaps she hadn’t expected me to challenge her in front of everyone.

“You came back here pretending to be some powerful woman because you married a billionaire.” Her expression hardened. “But I know what you really are.”

She leaned closer until only I could hear. A cruel smile curled across her lips.

“You’re nothing but a gold-digging whore with a new husband.”

The words hit me like a slap.

For one second, I simply stared at her.

All I could hear was her voice

Gold-digging whore.

My hand moved before I could think.

SMACK!

The sharp sound of my palm striking her cheek echoed across the ballroom. Kenna’s head snapped to the side.

For a second, nobody moved.

Slowly, Kenna turned her face back toward me. Her eyes were wide with disbelief, one hand slowly rising to her cheek.
