Chapter 9

(Freya's POV).

"Good morning, Luna."

"Morning, Gabriel."

When I came down to the first floor. I already saw Gabriel in the living room waiting for me. He immediately bowed to me when he greeted me.

It felt a little strange to see someone bowing and saluting me while I was usually ignored by people. They didn't even care that I existed and looked down on my existence. And now, I had the power to make them respect and fear me.

Is this what it feels like to have power? Is this what Damian and Sam have always felt?

"Where's Damian?" I asked him because when I woke up Damian wasn't in his room.

"Alpha Damian is doing something. He'll be back soon," he informed me. "He told me to pick you up and take you to the training area."

It seemed like Damian was true to his word that he didn't want me to get hurt and was making sure I stayed safe.

"Are there many werewolves learning to fight?" I asked stupidly. I could see the corners of Gabriel's lips lift. Only briefly, before his flat face returned.

"Yes, Luna. If you don't feel comfortable joining the other werewolves. We can practice in front of the house if you like."

I shook my head quickly. "No! I'll be practicing in the training area. I don't want them to think that I'm an arrogant Luna. Besides, I'm just not used to my current status yet," I confessed to him even though I felt a little embarrassed.

"You'll get used to it soon enough, Luna," he said. There was absolutely no mocking smile or anything else. I had never met Gabriel before, so I felt that he was quite different from other werewolves. Or was it because he was Damian's significant other, so he was nice to me?

Gabriel and I went to the training area and there I saw that many werewolves who were busy practicing fighting started to stop their activities when they realized my presence.

I felt so intimidated and embarrassed as they all looked at me with different eyes. Some were confused, some were annoyed, and some of them seemed to ignore my existence.

But Gabriel kept walking right beside me and whispered. "Ignore them, Luna. They're nothing compared to you."

I looked up to stare at Gabriel who wasn't even looking at me when he said that. Even though he said it with a flat face, I felt a little calm and comfortable. It made me feel more confident.

"Luna. You're here."

We stopped as three male werewolves blocked our way and greeted me kindly.

"Oh, yes. I want to learn to fight and Gabriel is going to help me."

"Yes. Alpha Damian told us that you would be coming to train today," said the man with cropped hair.

"He asked us to treat you well and take care of you," the short blond man spoke up. His smile was even brighter than the sun that day.

And one man who was shorter than them seemed to just bow and give a greeting with a smile. I looked at Gabriel who was staring at me.

"They are the people Alpha Damian trusts to take care of the training area," Gabriel explained.

"You could say that we are the teachers who teach them all," the blond man spoke with a hint of laughter and humor.

"Very well. We won't bother you anymore. You can start your training with Gabriel," the short-haired man said.

"Uh, am I allowed to know your names?" I asked. Because it was my first time seeing them. Maybe it's because I've never been in the training area since it's a very private place and no one is allowed to come if they don't have to.

"Of course, Luna. We're very honored that you asked our names. I'm Rafael," the man with cropped hair replied.

"I'm Chaiden, Luna," the blond man said, "and he's Raye."

I furrowed my brow as Chaiden pointed at the shortest man among them with his hand. I felt confused because he didn't introduce himself and just stayed silent with his eyes continuing to stare at me intently. I was a little uncomfortable with his gaze which was so deep as if it penetrated my mind.

"Luna, he can't speak," Chaiden said.

"Can't speak?!" I was so shocked that my voice rose. "But how?" I asked incredulously.

"He used to be a Rogue. And he used to work as a Rogue for hire. Damian found him dying and with his tongue cut out brought him here," Rafael explained.

I didn't know anything like this happened here. Even Damian as the Alpha of the Pack was humble enough to save a Rogue and bring her to his pack. I thought Damian was just a cold, unforgiving Alpha, but he had a good side that I never knew.

"Luna," Gabriel called.

"Yes?" I immediately turned to Gabriel, a little shocked that I had been daydreaming.

"It's time to practice fighting," he reminded me.

"Oh, yes. I'm sorry," I said.

I walked after Gabriel and that day, I practiced controlling. Gabriel said that it was the most important way to fight when I met a werewolf whose level was higher than mine.

"You have to dodge because you know for sure that you will lose if you attack them directly. Because they are stronger and fiercer than you. Always look at their attack patterns and when they are caught off guard, you should immediately take the opportunity to attack them."

"Akh!"

"Like this time."

I collapsed to the ground as I focused on listening to Garbriel's explanation and suddenly he attacked me very quickly.

"You have to stay focused even though this is just a practice, Luna. If you don't, you'll lose your life right now," he warned.
