Chapter 5

(Juliette’s POV)

"Sam?!" I squealed in surprise as Sam suddenly pulled my hand roughly. "What's wrong with you!"

"What just happened, huh?" he asked. I could see the anger in his eyes.

I'm sure he was just as surprised as the rest of the pack about me becoming Damian's Alpha Mate. They must be wondering how a werewolf like me who had just been Rejected, banished, and humiliated suddenly became the Luna King's King in a few days.

They were suspicious and curious as to how it could have happened.

However, seeing the shock on their faces, and their curiosity, made me feel happy. I felt like one of my resentments had been avenged. They wouldn't dare gossip about me anymore with my level being higher than theirs.

And I also wouldn't let Sam go back to demeaning and hurting me again after the evil deed he did to me.

"I don't understand what you’re saying, Sam," I said indifferently.

"Don't play with me! How did you become his Luna?" I groaned in pain as he grabbed my wrist with a firm grip.

"Let go of me, Sam! You're hurting me!" I yelled, swatting his hand away.

He looked at me sharply. Looking so angry and upset with my attitude. But I tried to act calm and brave even though I felt my body trembling. I couldn't deny that I still loved him, that there was still pain that lingered in my chest and made me feel claustrophobic every time I saw his face. The face of the partner who had betrayed me.

"Are you doing a cheap trick with me?"

"Cheap trick?" I smiled wryly. "I wonder why you're overreacting like this knowing that Damian and I have become an eternal couple. It's not even your business anymore after you so blatantly broke us up!"

"Fuck!" Sam swore loudly.

I could only swallow my saliva with difficulty. Clenching my hands together to keep my tears from falling.

"I am now Damian's Alpha Mate. So, be more polite to me, Beta Sam." I straightened up, trying to act arrogant in front of him, but he laughed instead.

"Mate of Alpha Damian? Don't make fun of me, Juliette. What tricks did you pull on him so that he would pick up trash like you to be his Luna, huh?"

Trash?

I crumpled the hem of my clothes. My heart broke at his words. It felt like a sharp spear had been driven through my chest. I was left speechless to reply to his cruel words to you.

Even after what he did to me, he didn't feel guilty at all. And now he seemed so angry because he was jealous that I had become Alpha Damian's Mate.

"How bad am I in your eyes, Sam? I thought I could forgive you in time, but I can't seem to do it."

"I don't need your forgiveness, Juliette. I made the right decision to reject you. And I have no regrets."

I swallowed hard, trying to keep my tears from falling.

"Then stay out of my business. Our relationship is over. Who I want to be with is none of your business!"

Sam laughed mockingly. "You don't even know what Damian is like. You'd better leave him. This is my last gift as your ex-mate," he said.

I looked at him sharply. "I will never leave him," I insisted.

"You'll regret it, Juliette."

"You're the one who will regret it. Damian has marked me and we are now bound. We will not be separated until one of us rejects the other."

"You have to reject him," he insisted.

I looked at him in confusion. What made him so selfish as to ask me to reject Damian? I felt like he was jealous that I had become the mate of the Alpha King, while before that I was just a lowly werewolf who was rejected by his Beta mate.

"What should I do that for? I'm Luna here. The King's mate in The River Howlers Pack. Everyone bows to me, and you have to," I snapped. I looked at him closely, assuring him that I was now more powerful than he was.

"Damn it," he cursed loudly, "you think this will work on me? In my eyes, you're still a lowly werewolf."

"I don't care."

"It's only fitting that I reject you because you deserve it. You are nothing but a cheap bitch. You must have offered your body to him so Damian wants to make you his Luna, right? Otherwise, why would Damian mark you as his mate."

My tears unconsciously fell as I heard Sam's words that sounded so painful. How could he think so lowly of me when we were previously a couple?

I don't even see any love in his eyes anymore. All that was left was hatred and anger. How far has he thrown me in his life? While I'm here still trying to heal my wounds. Trying to forget her, but I still need time. Because it's not that easy to forget even now that I've become Luna Damian.

"You disappointed me, Sam," I whispered as I wiped away my tears. I shouldn't be crying over a guy like that.

"Everything I said is a fact. And I'm disgusted that we were meant to be," he scoffed.

I couldn't say anything else. As I tried to reply to his words, I froze when I saw Damian's figure appear from behind Sam.

"You'd better watch your mouth and be polite to my Luna, Beta Sam." Damian's voice was calm, but filled with an intimidating tone.

He walked up to me and wrapped his burly arms around my waist. Pressed so tightly that I could feel the scent of his body and the way he imprisoned my body like a huge shield that made me feel safe.

"Alpha Damian...."

"I might rip that mouth of yours out if I hear you mock my Luna one more time," he threatened.

I could see Sam's fear at that moment. And somehow, I felt good seeing Sam look weak and helpless.

"I'm sorry. I won't do it again," Sam said as he lowered his head.

"This time I'll let it go, but for the second time. I'll punish you if I see her tears." I gasped in shock as Damian's hand suddenly touched my cheek, brushing away the remaining traces of my tears and kissing gently under my eyes.

My body trembled with a strange feeling and I closed my eyes as he kissed my lips. So soft, so warm, and slightly seductive. As I opened my eyes, I could see the darkness in Sam's eyes as he watched us kiss each other.

In my heart, this was my revenge.
